With my forms in, I am a 44 DD. I'd like to hear if any of you use pocket mastectomy bras? And if you do, what styles do you like. Are they underwire? I have a "jiggle" pocket bra, but it really isn't engineered to handle larger breastforms.

So far, my best fitting bra was a seamless cup cheapie from Big Lots. The girls sit up nice and proud in it, but I'd like to find something more comfortable for 12+ hour days. As mastectomy bras are more costly, I'd like some pre buying guidance.

I wear a pair of $450.00 silicone breast forms, and I would never trust them to anything BUT a mastectomy bra! A mastectomy bra may cost a bit more than another less expensive bra, but there's no getting around the fact that a mastectomy bra is made specifically for holding breast prosthesis forms. The way I look at it, after I sacrificed and made the initial investment, I'm sure as heck gonna wear my forms in the proper type of bra...and BTW, not all mastectomy bras are ugly, old wamanish-looking things. In the end, maybe I do sacrifice a bit of "frill" for the sake of practicality, but who besides me ever sees my silly bra, anyway? did that make any sense? I guess what I'm saying is that you'll have to experiment. Take a look at all the options and varieties available and then decide for yourself what type of bra you like best. In my case, I place more emphasis on having breasts than I do on what my bra loks like.

Thanks, Michelle,
That's what I wanted to hear. I feel very protective about my "girls" and fret about the underwires. I've seen some nice ones, and they aren't all white and "ugly" anymore.

I'm going shopping....as if I needed any encouragement. You can be my enabler anytime!
