Hi Everybody,
I'll be traveling to Jackson, MS next week on business. Of course, any time out of town is a good time to dress up, but I'm a little worried about Jackson. Any advise? I'm not musch of a club/bar person. Just shopping and ordinary restraunts for me. Any particualr part of town I should favor or avoid?
Thanks,
Rhonda

Hey Rhonda, I just moved out of Jackson to Florence. Jackson is not a good place for CD'ers. Crime is waaay up and the mayor is a joke. I work at a hotel in Ridgeland. If you'd like to pm me, I can tell you whether or not the hotel you will be at is good or not

I'm within a stone's throw of Jackson myself. Vicksburg is just west of Jackson, (about 40 miles) and the biggest attraction there is the Riverboat Casino district.

I'm sure Alyson can help you more with the places to avoid for a CD though.

Welcome to the Delta!

i don't know, i don't think it was Jackson, but i know Johnny Cash and June Carter had a hit that was "hotter than a "pepper sprout"" in Jackson.

Thanks for the info everybody. Allyson, I don't know where I'll be staying. I'll just find someplace when I get there (I'm driving). Any suggestions? I prefer a motel where I can park in front of my room and avoid the front desk while I'm dressed.

I started to say in my original post that Jackson seemed to not work out too well for Charlie Daniels in Uneasy Rider. Hoping for no flat tires and for sure no flat spares (I'll check)! Maybe I should have asked where I'd be most likely to avoid "ol' green teeth". Didn't want to be disrespectful to the good people of Jackson, though. After all, regardless of where we live, we all have that element in our community. If I have any trouble, I wonder if that "undercover agent for the FBI" bit would work???

that is one heck of a song, but now the cop car would have a blue light instead of a red one, its nationally accepted that blue = cop, amber/yellow = emergency, green = go, red = stop

Well, I would say stay at my hotel but all the rooms there are inside. I can't really think of any good(safe) hotels that have rooms on the outside. If you want, when you get in town, you can call me on my cell (I'll pm you the number) and I can give you some ideas. There are 2 hotels next to mine that have outside doors, but I don't know if I'd want to walk to them dressed. Now, I'm not saying something will happen, but I thinnk I may be the only CD in this town

All I know is the last thing I wanted was to get in a fight, in Jackson MS on a Saturday night.

I can tell ya this much...MS policemen have absolutely the biggest attitudes I've encountered.

I warn ya, don't speed in MS! Hell, I have family "in high places" in the sheriff's department here in Louisiana, and when my ex got a speeding ticket there, there was *no* chance of "gettin it fixed".

When I'm traveling through MS (which we do a lot going to FL) I'll keep the needle two or three ticks under the posted limit just to make sure!

Hey Vanya, as long as you stay with the flow of traffic, you should be ok.
