was just wondering if anyone else had a song or tune that sums up their dressing . My song is hymn to her by the pretenders as it has some apt lyrics

Ah, one of my favorite topics, I can never resist however many times it comes up. (I've been continually amazed at how many CDs continue to listen to 'guy music,' even hard rock, however femmed they dress. When I started going 24/7, everything on my ipod went to female vocalists. I actually consider the tunes as important as the makeup.) Pretenders - good choice; I ought to check more of their stuff. My stuff includes Britney Spears (shopping for clothes), Joni Mitchell (sunny day walks) and Annie Lennox (rainy day walks) - plus Nancy Sinatra's fab version of 'Day Tripper,' of course!

"Get Your Gunn" by Marilyn Manson is quite apt, when he sings "You want me to save the world: I'm just a little girl."
Another favourite, whilst not about anything transgender, is quite fun - "Biology" by Girls Aloud. I tend to listen to either that or "Not a Woman" by Britney Spears when crossdressing.

I'm probably dating myself but I have always loved the song "I Enjoy Being a Girl" from the Broadway Show Flower Drum Song.
The words are
I'm a girl, and by me that's only great!
I am proud that my silhouette is curvy,
That I walk with a sweet and girlish gait
With my hips kind of swivelly and swervy.
I adore being dressed in something frilly
When my date comes to get me at my place.
Out I go with my Joe or John or Billy,
Like a filly who is ready for the race!
When I have a brand new hairdo
With my eyelashes all in curl,
I float as the clouds on air do,
I enjoy being a girl!
When men say I'm cute and funny
And my teeth aren't teeth, but pearl,
I just lap it up like honey
I enjoy being a girl!
I flip when a fellow sends me flowers,
I drool over dresses made of lace,
I talk on the telephone for hours
With a pound and a half of cream upon my face!
I'm strictly a female female
And my future I hope will be
In the home of a brave and free male
Who'll enjoy being a guy having a girl... like... me.
When men say I'm sweet as candy
As around in a dance we whirl,
It goes to my head like brandy,
I enjoy being a girl!
When someone with eyes that smoulder
Says he loves ev'ry silken curl
That falls on my iv'ry shoulder,
I enjoy being a girl!
When I hear the compliment'ry whistle
That greets my bikini by the sea,
I turn and I glower and I bristle,
But I happy to know the whistle's meant for me!
I'm strictly a female female
And my future I hope will be
In the home of a brave and free male
Who'll enjoy being a guy having a girl... like... me.
A little silly but the title says it all----------I ENJOY BEING A GIRL

Lets don't forget the song LOLA.
Ah, I am trying to! If there's one piece of pop culture more belittling to TGs than Rocky Horror, it's that godawful freakshow of a tune by the Kinks.

Almost anything off Transformer by Lou Reed...yeah the hint is in the title!!! The single most focussed album that I love which deals with transvestism, transgenderism and all the issues around them...the ultimate CD concept album, and I've loved it since I first heard it in about '73...
who doesn't know this.....
Holly came from Miami FLA
Hitch hiked across the USA
Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her legs then he was a she
And she says..Hey Babe..take a walk on the wildside
yeah, Holly Woodlawn, Jackie Curtis and Candy Darling.....
about this period of his life Lou was living with Rachel (named at the and of the song Coney Island Baby...this one goes out to Lou and Rachel and all the kids at PS 182)...Rachel was a transvestite....

When I got into my car last Saturday, dressed, to go to the Tri-Ess meeting Aerosmith's "Dude Looks Like A Lady" was playing on the local radio station as soon as I turned the key.
This would have been the song I would have chosen even if that had not happened.

OK If I had a song I'd say it was "Talking to my angels" from Melissa Etheridge. Her music got me through some really hard times in the early to mid 90's.
Probably dealing with learning who I am.
But I'm coming out from Diana Ross makes me laugh when I'm in mixed company and hear it......
Here's the lyrics to the Melissa Etheridge song..
Talking To My Angel
Melissa Etheridge
Don't be afraid...Close your eyes
Lay it all down...Don't you cry
Can't you see I'm going where I can see the sun rise
I've been talking to my angel and he said that it's alright
I've always had to run...I don't know just why
Desire slowly smoking under the midwest sky
There's something waiting out there that says I've got to try
I've been talking to my angel and he said that it's alright
This town thinks I'm crazy...They just think I'm strange
Sometimes they want to own me...Sometimes they wish I'd change
But I can feel the thunder underneath my feet
I sold my soul for freedom...It's lonely but it's sweet
Don't be afraid...Close your eyes
Lay it all down...Don't you cry
can't you see I'm going where I can see the sun rise
I've been talking to my angel and he said that it's alright

One of my faves, and I know it's been mentioned in other threads, is Madonna's "What It Feels Like For a Girl." Really sums up how I felt growing up. I like Madonna's popular "Material Girl" and "Like a Virgin." - Both great songs for me when dressed.

There's a neo-traditional country band from SF, Red Meat, that does a song that fits me to a T. I think the title is "She's the girl with the biggest hair & the longest nails." I have to play that disc everytime I hit the road en femme, which seems to be every other day now. I love it!

I agree with Karren, what I feel inside cannot be decribed in lyrics or any words for that matter. Besides, most songs about "us" has been written by people who are not like "us" and merely describe what they have seen or heard, not what they have felt. Songs about love on the other hand, well just about all of us can relate to them is one way or another.

Shania Twain "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" but Lola is the ring tone on my cell phone, going to sometime change it to "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley from the movie Kinky Boots.
I have two i sing, Happiest girl in the whole USA & I am woman hear me roar!
Don't forget a verse from the Beatles song Get Back, "sweet Lorretta Molly thought she was a woman but she was another man".

Scottie: Yes, Melissa Etheridge rocks!
One song sums it up for me... not about crossdressing per se but about gender... "When I Was a Boy" by Dar Williams.
Its last verse runs in part:
"...and so I tell the man I'm with
about the other life I lived
and I tell him 'you're top gun
I have lost and you have won,'
and he said 'oh, no, no, can't you see?
When I was a girl,
my mom and I, we always talked
and I picked flowers everywhere that I walked;
And I would always cry,
now even when I'm alone I seldom do -
And I have lost some kindness,
but I was a girl too,
and you were just like me
and I was just like you.'"
I met Dar earlier this year when she played at a women's benefit concert - and had my picture taken with her!

"We Are The Champions" by Queen
Amazing band when you think of it. 'Queen' was pretty brazen back then, most of the jocks had no clue. I recall an interview with Freddy Mercury in '74, he was praising Lizi Minnelli - talk about a hint. The best was Viagra using 'We Are The Champions' as a jingle, all those macho dudes marching together through suburbia - it was such a 'gay travesty' and no one really noticed!
Oh yeh... The U.S. Navy hired the Village People to tour bases when the song 'In The Navy' hit the charts, then someone hipped the brass and the gig got cancelled. Crazy world.

Well, just got back from WallyWorld and had to try on my new top and skirt.
So, here I am checking myself out in the mirror, and these song lyrics came to mind.
I feel pretty,
Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty, and witty and gay,
(Maria, West Side Story)
I often add my own line
"It's a pitty,
That a man should be feeling this way"

Lets don't forget the song LOLA.
Another vote for Lola. Growing up during on summer that song played out of a jukebox that could be heard over the sand at Point Pleasant Beach down at the Jersey shore, spent a month listening to that song, but never took the words to heart until a few years ago.

I have posted this before in one of my previous posts (I admit it, I am mostly a lurker). Anyway, I always though this song had some tg content, even though it is sung by a gg.
I'm so tired, of playing
Playing with this bow and arrow
Gonna give my heart away
Leave it to the other girls to play
For I've been a temptress too long
Just. .
Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be ee, a woman
I just wanna be a woman
From this time, unchained
We're all looking at a different picture
Thru this new frame of mind
A thousand flowers could bloom
Move over, and give us some room
Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be ee, a woman
I just wanna be a woman
So don't you stop, being a man
Just take a little look from our side when you can
Sow a little tenderness
No matter if you cry
Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be ee, a woman
Its all I wanna be is all woman
For this is the beginning of forever and ever

ANDROGYNOUS
Here comes Dick
He's wearing a skirt
Here comes Jane
You know she's sporting a chain
Same hair revolution
Same build evolution
Tomorrow who's going to fuss
And they love each other so
Androgynous
Closer than you know
Love each other so
Androgynous
Well don't get him wrong
And don't get him mad
He might be a father
But he sure ain't a dad
She don't need
Advice that they send to her
She's happy with the way she looks
She's happy with her gender
And they love each other so
Androgynous
Closer than you know
Love each other so
Androgynous
Mirror image see no damage
See no evil at all
Cupie dolls and urine stalls
Will be laughed at the way
You're laughed at now
Now something meets boy
And something meets girl
They both are the same
They're overjoyed in this world
Same hair revolution, unisex, evolution
Tomorrow who's gonna fuss
And tomorrow Dick is wearing pants
Tomorrow Jane's wearing a dress
Future outcasts and a they don't last
And a today the people dress the way
That they please
The way they tried to do in the last century
And they love each other so
Androgynous
Closer than you know
Love each other so
Androgynous
Androgynous
Androgynous
Don't you get it
Androgynous
I think of Sher when I hear this song...Silver Girl/ Stevie Nicks...........part of the lyrics are in my sig.
