I highly recommend shaving down there as long as you can keep it up. First you have to give yourself a close trim. Then gently use a razor with lots of gel and go slowly. At first you will get a few cuts and bumps but if you keep shaving your skin will get use to it and you will be fine. Also moisterize. I have been doing this for years. I shave every day and the effort is worth it. The feeling is just so wonderful and eventually you will never want hair down there again. Trust me. Now go try it.

I shave from the neck and have for the last year. If you start it takes a little time to get used too. I had a rash for a month till my skin got used to it. Now i would never go back. Just remember to go slow and take your time. I applied lotion after for a while but dont anymore.

Ok:: once had a Vasectomy and it was quite itchy for a while. The gel sounds better than the saving cream. If it feels has good there as it does on the legs it will try it tonight,,,Thanks

No razors for, thank you!

Seriously, I've been shaving my crotch for about twelve years. First, use an electric trimmer (like a barber uses) they have small ones, like beard trimmers, to get the hair as short as possible. Then use an electrick shaver, one with a microscvreen head, the triple head ones tend to nick you, so stick to the screen type. I never get irritation or nicks, so it's shave and go.

Been shaving there for, wait I'm out of fingers, 16 years! Use no dull razors. Shave in the shower. Don't loose your balance though. I use aloe strip 3 blade Schick disposables, they work well. BIC's cut too close and cause me discomfort sometimes. Never used an electric. Like our faces & legs, to each their own.

The itchies occur in the underwear leg band region for me if I skip days. And for you girls thinking SRS, its good experience to learn just how much hair you have there as you'll need to have all this hair removed before surgery (Electrolosis there? Ouch!). And for those CD's who still have regular old sex with a partner, you'll love clean up afterwards; no hair to have to go shampoo clean. But maybe thats more than you wanted to know. ;-o

LOL, I just did it this past weekend and the first 3 days were exactly that - cactus like.

Used gel and the 3 blade Shick brand new blades, but that's twice in a lifetime, both times itchy. I think if you do it enough that goes away.

I shaved everything else too. Baby smooth. Now I have to find an extra hour every other day to stay that way :undecided

I've been removing hair from various parts of my body for years - my scrotum & shaft for 28 years and recently my back & arm pits. (Why did I start? A different story for a different time.) There have been times that I let the hair grow back all the way, but I always go back to removing it. Hair is not the same from one part of your body to another and hair is not the same from gurl to gurl. So what works on your face may not work on your tush, your legs, or your armpits, but for me a good gel shave cream & multi-edge safety razor has worked fine for my sensitive areas as well as my beard (However, my wife likes to use VEET on my back). Obviously, when I first started shaving (an inexperienced clutz) I frequently suffered with nicks & razor burns, but now it is second nature and hardly ever get a razor bite. BTW - it does itch for the first week or so, but your skin gets use to it. I shave down there daily - at the same time I shave my beard and my arm pits. (I have a shower mirror & shave when I shower.)

I've tried all the methods - Nair, electric razor, waxing - all with the same results - at first there are nicks & bumps. However, if u don't get too zealous they will eventually go away. My advise is to do what you are comfortable with. In my experience there are four essentials: 1) First time, regardless of method - use electric clippers (or scissors) to de-bulk the long hair; 2) use a good shave gel & multiblade razor; 3) shave in the direction the hair grows (usually toward your feet - after a few weeks your skin will be conditioned and u can experiment with shaving up or across the direction of growth - just be ready for the initial razor bumps). 4) Wash the shaved area with abrasive scrub or mild oil-free soap to exfoliate the pores . The bumps get red & pimply because the pores get clogged and an exfoliative wash keeps the pores open. (My best success is with Neutragena's RAPID CLEAR) If u have bumps, don't shave them the next day- let them rest (heal) for a day or two, otherwise you'll just nick them again & again. Also, I've used after-shave lotion with good results.

The rough, thick pubic hair (above & around the genitals) is tuffest to shave w/o causing razor bumps - so generally I don't do this area.

I hope u find this advise helpful. Most of all - if my advise doesn't work for u try a different method. But don't give up early. You'll find a hairless tush is very sensual and your SO will enjoy not gagging on the "pubes". Let us know what works best for you.

Kisses,
DaveAllen (a CD with a male ID)

First off be sober! I've been shaving from the nose down for years, the main thing to remember is to use a new razor. It takes time for you to get use to it. I shave once a week and now that my body is use to it I don't get as many nicks and scraps like the first time, my legs looked like a side of beef hanging in a meat locker and I was very careful not to wear anything that would rub them.

I've been doing that for years. It used to itch when the hairs came back, however that has stopped after the first couple of times (guess the body area got used to it). Although, I do it because I dislike body hair in general, I also like to be reminded of how it felt pre-puberty. Cheri.

If your shaving with a blade, I might suggest that you try the Gillette Power Fusion. It is the most comfortable shave I have ever had. I shave my head, face, legs, etc..., all in the shower every morning. I don't use shave cream. I use hair conditioner. Hair conditioner works very well and I have no need to moisterize afterwards.

I shave my penis base and scrotum with a disposable razor in the shower with soap. To avoid the scratching/itching just don't shave on the sides where your scrotum touches your leg. Trim there with scissors but don't shave. From the front no hair can be seen by you in mirror or by your partner. Its your secret.

I shave completly , no body hair from the neck down, my wife loves it, I have found the best way is to shave regular (every week), your body becomes used to it, so i dont itch any more, also I use a rasor that I have used on my face first, a slightly used razer doesnt nick me anywhere, I am also fortunate that I hardly have any body hair anyway, and even after a week, there aint a lot to shave off lol. I go on holiday three times a year, and nobody even bats an eyelid about me having no body hair, I dont even think about it anymore when on public view. So girls shave regular keep it smooth and shiny !!!!!!

Yes; I shave may whole body every other day in the shower or tub except in the pubic area. I used to do that too with no real discomfort. I just got away from it. The only problem is I wear control panties 24/7 which essentially is a gaff so you need to stay cleaned. The back is a problem that my wife clears for me once in a while.
It's a real challenge isn't it ladies?

It seems like there are lots of shaving threads at the moment. It must be that time of the year...

Dry shaving (http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=535591#post535591) works in the genital area, too. But for safety's sake, I advise using an unmodified razor in this region. :)

I hadn't shaved "down there" for years, but just started recently when I learned to tuck. One of the functions of pubic hair is to reduce friction, so a shaved scrotum tends to stay where you want it to stay, which helps to keep the tuck stable.

Yeah, I shave everywhere... accidentally including my nipple most recently. There was quite a nasty cut, and it still hurts like hell every time I'm out in the cold. Thankfully it's still attached! So my tip - don't shave your nipples if you live in a cold climate. Oh yeah, and happy thanksgiving to all the girls across the pond!

Trim the hair as short as possible with scissors or trimmer first. This will save some pain later. I use an electric shaver for that area and my back, it's easier to handle for me. It's realy no big deal, but you gotta keep up with it, it'll be easier the next time.

I shave every day in the shower. Use a triple bladed venus that has a flexable head to follow the contures. Soap it up and go to it. The same is true for your pits and boobs.

can anyone tell me about shave down there,, is there a methhood, or any avice on this delicate subject. do's and don't's...:o

I use a set of hairdressing clippers, no guard, just the straight blade. It cuts the hair very short, but still leave a little bit. (tried shaving but the re-growth is soooo itchy it almost drove me nuts not to mention the ingrown hairs).

Also bought one of those personal shavers from the bodyshop. Apprently all the porn industry use them (but buy a good brand).

In so far as my testicles, I simple follow the same lines.

The key to using this bodyshaver is to apply talc powder, it helps it glide over the skin better.

(I shaved my legs yesterday for the first times in years, just run the clippers over them usually. I'm itchy as a bear that's rolled in posion ivy, I'm regretting my implusive desire of yesterday now).

Anyone got a cure for shaver rash and ingrowns?

If you can afford it, give waxing a try. DO NOT attempt this yourself, but make some calling, or visit this site www.waxwaxwax.com to hunt down someone who will give you what's called a male brazilian or sphynx. Count on it costing upwards of 100 bucks, but the growback is much sparser than with a shave or nairing.

Good luck, whether you're waxing or shaving, and don't forget to exfoliate every couple of days.

I use a Gillette Venus razor... The head pivots so there are fewer or no nics. I also use Skintimate Moisturizing shave gell everywhere except one place... Just running water in the shower. A lot of gels/creams have substances that tend to give a little burning sensation to really sensitive areas.:p

I've only been shaving below the neck for about 4 months. I try and shave the body hair about once a week. I am not too thrilled with VEET...nasty smell, uneven results, like chemical warfare on your skin.
I heard good things about the "Phillips body groom" (electric) so I may try that.

It is a lot more work than you think. There are always little spots you miss.

As for the "twig and berries", you will love the newly obtained smoothness down there.

Best thing I have found, as far as razors go, is the Schick Silk Effects razor. It has wires over the blades , it seems to keep the skin from being caught at all. Been shaving with it since september of this year and have never cut myself once.

Once I did shave I wondered why I had not done it sooner. Guess I have been lucky, never once have I gotten the itches.

I am trying to get the nerves for a full body wax

Talc powder with a disposable razor works well too. See the link to Dry Shaving in my earlier post in this thread.

The best cure for shaver rash and ingrowns is prevention. :) Also, once you shave regularly, your body won't react as much to being shaved.

But fortunately, there are some things you can do to ease your pain & red spots. Good old Aussie Tea Tree oil is an excellent remedy. It helps the healing process, kills bacteria & soothes the itchiness. It may sting a little bit for the first few seconds, then you get this nice "glowing" feeling. Don't use it pure, use the water-soluble 15% stuff.

You could also try IsoCol rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol), available cheaply in any supermarket. It kills bacteria & soothes the itching a bit. Another thing which soothes & heals shaving rash is Aloe Vera, especially if you can get it fresh.

To prevent (or at least reduce) shaving rash, exfoliate & clean your skin well before shaving. I recently got some cheap exfoliating gloves in Coles & they work well. Use something like Tea Tree oil and/or IsoCol on your legs both before & after shaving.

As a before & after shave, I dilute the 15% Tea Tree oil down to about 1 part oil to five parts water, and use it in the bath, so I'm already wet. It doesn't need to be too concentrated to do its job. :) The IsoCol, I generally use straight.

To eliminate shaving rash, you need to get rid of bacteria and the oils & dead skin they live in. Most ingrown hair is caused by excess skin over the follicle interfering with the newly emerging hair, so that's another good reason to exfoliate.

I really suggest you read my article on dry shaving, that I linked to above. Dry shaving really helps to reduce and even eliminate shaving rash, razor burn & ingrown hairs.

Hope this helps,

Robin

Well, I've been shaving everything 'down under' for at least 10 years now. Since, I learned it is necessary for the proper tucking effect since only taping does a 100% proper tuck. I first did it, because I was associating with exotic dancers, and they the few I was intimate with liked the hair free oral experience as much as I did. That is a good excuse to use with your SO if you think they might not approve otherwise!

I read many good suggestions. For the first time, there probably will be red spots, bumps, etc. If you use an Aloe Vera (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aloe_vera) body wash, or other exfoliating (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exfoliation_%28cosmetology%29) body scrubs for a few days before shaving, you might be able to avoid the first weeks discomfort associated with first time shaving.

What I like best about shaving is the cleanliness in the area. Hair harbors dirt and germs, and although some had said they itch more with shaving, I have the opposite effect of no groin itch since I started shaving there! Another good reason to regularly shave there.

I shave in the tub, the same time I shave my legs. I find the Aloe Vera body wash I use works fine for shaving with. I am one that bathes, then showers.

A couple of other things you may try to avoid the red bumpy syndrome:

1) Use a clan dry towel, lay it over the area, and pat dry. Do not rub. Same for drying your legs after shaving.

2) Use a clean washcloth soaked in hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and dab (no not rub) everywhere after drying.

3) If you have a tan, and don't want to chance bleaching some of it out, do step 2 right after showering, then shower the H2O2 right back off, then pat dry with a towel.

4) Use a lotion after shaving. I like Aloe Vera products, and I use a 98% aloe lotion afterwards. However, don't use a lotion if you plan to do a tape tuck anytime soon. The skin needs to be dry and oil free! I use an Aloe Vera gel for places other than my legs. It does not remain oily! I especially like it on the rest of my body after tanning.

I shave from nose to toes, have eyebrows waxed. If I could find a good salon, would have more areas waxed. When shaving crotch for the first time, it was only itchy for a few days, then no more itching while shaving every few days. Chest hair is the toughest to get really smooth. I use a little nair for the stubble. I get assistance for the back and the fuzz on my backside. I find the experience of being shaved by others to be very sensual and satisfying.
