i finally got the ok for hormone treatment.i will be getting the info from which doctor i go to at my next therapist meeting.the psych said she would find out who i can go to in the area and get these hormones.i can't wait ! things are so miserable lately i am so full of anxiety i will be happy when i start my first one ! things have reached the point where i can no longer do my job and nor do i have a social circle.how long do most people wai tbefore they can feel results and then see results.i have heard after 3 months ,it's irreversible from what has been done, prior to 3 months it's more in the mind.i'm not sure about a t-blocker though?i'll see how it goes.

You'll "Feel" results within a month, in the emotional state, you may expect some serious mood swings at first so start low (Which I'm sure your doc will recommend).
After 3 or 4 months you'll have buds and feel tenderness behind the nipples.
You'll feel a pea sized knot behind them also, which will gradually increase to something like a silver dollar under your nipple, this is normal.
Depending on your age though, at 41 I've only gotten an A cup in the past 10 months...
But I love the emotional factor, things are much much calmer and I'm less likely to bite someone's head off while on them.....
I did it backwards, I'm glad you did it right - I'm actually going BACK to get my formal evaluation very soon.....kinda late but I'd rather have it and do it right in the event I can transition further....

I'm really excited to hear about your progress. At your age, you should see some good results.

I thought T-blockers were pretty essential.

Michelle I think you will want the T-blockers. Without them the hrt will not give you the results you want. Good luck girl.

based on what i have heard about t blockers is:they are not nearly as effective as removing the testes, but they do some what, not that much of making the estrogen more effective than what it would be if no t blockers were there.i have heard it is given in high doses to make it do a descent job.i will be trying the bioidentical estrogen, which comes from a company that strictly does natural hrt, thats it.i can't wait.i'll take the t blocker thing a step at a time and see what the doc says.

I have read the opposite on this from a couple of medical journals online.
I will see if I can dig them up.
why, is because removing the testes removes the primary source of testosterone but the pituitary gland can still produce T.
Now I'm not a medical anything, so I could be wrong about what I read...
But having used them, they are quite effective.
Been reading up on the T lowering effects of estrogen as well and I've noticed that it HAS in fact cut mine about halfway - no morning suprises in the past 6 months - but it's there if I want it....and not if I don't.....
Do pay attention if you take the Cypreterone acetate though, on the eunuch archive site I read of a few others that had depression side effects and it's serious. I had a bout of serious depression the last time I took them, and the vehicle accident and stress of that did not help. I don't get depressed so I knew something was wrong and stopped taking it. The depression went away in about 2 weeks and things were back to normal inside of a month.
BTW - I just requested a schedule for my formal evaluation, read the criteria etc and I see why it's a necessity - glad to be doing that...
I have a good feeling about it!!!
I'm learning a lot by this site :)

If you don't choose castration, you will need a T-blocker to lower your testosterone to the point where your body's hormone receptors will be able to switch over to using estrogen, as long as there is sufficent testosterone in your body, it will continue to use it, in the XY body, estrogen only works in the absense of testosterone of sufficent quantity. Women have a small amount of testosterone in their bodys, but not enough to affect their estrogen receptors, normally. Spiro is a better and safer T-blocker then Androcur, with much less side effects.

I read somewhere that if you take T-blockers, your penis shrinks. And if you considering SRS that uses the penile inversion technique it would affect the depth of your neo-vagina. This would have an impact if you do plan to have sexual intercourse with a man in the near forseeable future.
This was the research I done a year ago, this is as best as I can remember it. I could be wrong however. Maybe our post-op sisters can tell us a bit more.
I'm personally on 2.5 mg premarin, 4mg progynova (estradiol valerate) even after a year I'm not getting much results except with some lumps behind my nipples, but then I am not on any T-blockers so that could be why. I guess it all depends on the results that you desire.

... isn't it pointless taking female hormones if you are not complimenting them with T blockers? I understand there may be medical reasons why it is a requirement for some people's health, but otherwise, what's the rationality?
Ummm, this comment is from an ignorant TG.:D

Which is why I hope I am wrong, so I can actually start taking spiro to compliment with whatever I am having. Just a little concern about the SRS procedure, achieving minimal depth.

Your testicles will shrink not your pinis. True it will make you unable to have an erection, as long as you take it in high doses (but erections and testicles should return to near normal in about a year, if you stop taking it). If you are castrated, you may need to take a anti-androgen for as much as a year. Spirotone is a better and safer T-blocker then Androcur.

Your memorry has slipped a little, but it only shows that your human. If you are circumcised, it will affect the depth of the vagina.

You should try a T-blocker and progestrone too.
That's my :2c: .
