This might be kind of a dumb question, but; I don't have an adams apple. Not visible, nothting there when I feel my chin, nada.
Ok, so I am not a freak of nature, but; how many Genitic Men have Adams Apples? I can't be all of us.
Oh, and what the heck does it do?

Me have FAT Neck - NO visible apple, BUT, me thinks me can feel one, a small one but me thinks it's there.
Me thinks the Apple is like a bird's plummage - men should use it to attract women. Well, maybe not. I have no idea what it's for. I hope someone can educate us.

Every male has an adams apple, if you don't have one then you're female. To cut a long and boring biology lesson short an adams apple develops during the male puberty years as the hormones make the voice box enlarge and as such deepen the male voice.
This enlargement causes a "lump" to form in the throat also known as an adam's apple. So to answer your question the adams apple is the voice box and secondly every male has one.
And they also come in different sizes a bit like shoes!

Yes! I have that lump in my throat to signal that I am an Adam not an Eve!
Adam could not swallow that Apple! :heehee:
It is not too noticable, but it is there.
In the winter I will wear a t-neck, I see some gals wearing chokers, that might help cover em up?

Mine is barely noticeable as well, strange that most of the girls that have replied in this thread seem to have a small Adam's apple as well.
Just a coincidence or.........?

I dont think MY adam's apple is discernable either. Of course BOTH men and women have them, But they are larger on men.
But its just like every other paramater from hand and foot size, to heigth to physical stregth. There is a BIG overlap between the sexes in all of these---although THE biggest adams apple, hand, foot, etc will belong to a man and the smallest to a woman, Many , Many people, regardless of biosex, will have features that fall within the 'overlap" area.
Sexual organs not withstanding, however:p :D

Lucky for me, my Adam's apple is not very noticeable, but like all Adam's apples it is "the projection in the front of the neck formed by the largest cartilage of the larynx." From a quick Google search, I found the following: "When the larynx grows larger during puberty, it sticks out at the front of the throat. This is what's called an Adam's apple. Everyone's larynx grows during puberty, but a girl's larynx doesn't grow as much as a boy's does. That's why boys have Adam's apples. Most girls don't have Adam's apples, but some do. It's no big deal either way."

I am sure I have one in there somewhere, but you have a neck that is distinguishable for the apple to show.

Michelle..... no question is EVER dumb! I don't have even the slightest visible and I always thought I didn't have one. All my uncles had one including my father. I'm not female, only in my dreams!!, but if people say we males do have one then I'm blessed I guess!

One of the (few) benefits of being a little plump (like me) is the adams apple gets hidden. It also adds to the breasts but that's for another thread! LOL

I have an adams apple that is noticable. I throw it up toward my chin and then it is not noticable. Incidently, that is how I change my voice to female.
I have practiced muscle control so I can do this easily. At first, keeping it up was hard and tireing. Try it and you will see what I mean.
As a general rule, chokers, scarfs and turtlenecks hide it well but all are hot in the summertime. The adamsapple is a dead giveaway because it is much more noticable in men than women. Womens adamsapples tend to be higher and deeper in the troat.

Mine is also nearly invisible. However, I also don't have an especially deep voice. I'm also a bigger person and have a larger neck, so I suppose it gets hidden somewhat.

For some reason that's the least of my problems. I used to wear only turtlenecks or scarves, convinced that it would give me away, but last summer I wore sundresses a lot and never got a second glance, I think if everything else is working for you a little Adam's Apple is not gonna make a big difference.

Ann Coulter is a good example of a woman with a prominent adam's apple.
And I do have an adam's apple, but it's rather small, and concealed somewhat by my chin.

I made a post reguarding the Adams apply awhile back, I still think it feels like I a have a rock the size a car in my throat. but my wife says you can hardly see it at all so I guess it is a good thing, cuase I was quite concerned about it before.

My Adam's Apple isn't very big, but it's definitely noticable especially if I have my head looking up. I worry somewhat about people seeing it.
I'm getting a tracheal shave on January 3 (among other FFS surgeries) to take care of that.

Hi,
I was born a female (allegedly, although I really do have my doubts sometimes) and I have a feelable and seeable (haha I'm inventing words here :p ) Adam's apple.
Bein' FTM I love it (yes I know everyone has an adam's apple, which is most cool, but I love it 'cos as we have seen above, people tend to often just relate it to men)!

Hi
OK, Hands up everyone who can speak using their normal voice. That's us all then, right?
OK, as Keiron Andrew says, we ALL have a larynx even GG, some are big some are small and unobtrusive, it's the luck of the draw, but if you have a voice, unless you have had it removed for a medical reason, you have a voice box or adams apple.
Having said that my own adams apple is not discernable, but then men tend to have thicker necks than women, so there is more real estate for it to hide in. If you push in the front of your neck and swallow, you'll feel it move, if, on the other hand you start seeing black spots you are pushing too hard and choking yourselves, so stop it!
In the same vein, along with my small voice box I have very small wrists and slim ankles, being as I'm 6'2'' it looks a little odd. How many others with small voiceboxs have a similar trait? The downside to it is I have very wide feet, oh wel, you win some you loose some!

Like Jenna I have a fat neck and it covers up my adam's apple completely. I have also been periodically underweight by about 5 pounds 3 times in my life and my adam's apple wasn't noticable at all.So I guess that I'm lucky by cd standards.

Mine doesn't show... That is quite convenient when I'm "en femme"...
But I'm sure there are many other give away that identify us as males dressed as women than Adam's apple...

Another lucky one here. I can feel it and it does show, but it isn't very prominent.
Well...%$#&^%$%#,,,I have a rather large and noticable Adam's apple!! Can it be removed... well, I mean, I know it CAN be, but what will the effects be?? A feminine voice... (I hope!)....:D

definetely can't see mine. I'm a little heavy, but not chins rolling over.. I'm glad I don't have one.. I have a feeling it has to do how your voicebox develops. I really don't have too deep of a voice unless I really don't put effort into annunciation.

Well, isn't the Adam's Apple your voice box, so if you don't have one, then your can't talk, I saw the tail end of a Maury one time that was one of those TG shows, and I heard someone say something bout the neck, but yeah, both men and women have em, watch a genetic female swallow, you'll see it then.

Of course like everyone I have an Adam's Apple, however I have been lucky in that department, as mine does not show at all.
