On Thursday the 30th it was my birthday and it also happened to be our fourth wedding anniversary. We decided to spend some time in San Francisco to celebrate. Both Marla and I love this city, it’s got a cool relaxed vibe about it and so spending time there in drab or en femme is always a pleasure.
We drove to the city on Wednesday evening because we had arranged to meet up and have dinner with friends from this very forum. There was Marlena Dahlstrom (http://crossdressers.com/forums/member.php?u=11599), EricaCD (http://crossdressers.com/forums/member.php?u=24154), Windy Cissy (http://crossdressers.com/forums/member.php?u=1011), Patsy Stone GG (http://crossdressers.com/forums/member.php?u=19375), and of course Marla GG (http://crossdressers.com/forums/member.php?u=9752) and me. Unfortunately another friend KewTnCurvy GG (http://crossdressers.com/forums/member.php?u=14474) couldn’t make it this time.
The dinner was in a very nice, hip “regular restaurant” that served Asian fusion type food. We had a fabulous time. It’s always a thrill to meet online friends in person. Marla’s going to write about the dinner (with pictures) in her blog later. http://360.yahoo.com/marla_gg
The following day we decided to do some tourist type things in the city, but before we did, Marla told me she would love it, and because it was my birthday, if I had a full face makeover at the stand-alone Pro MAC store on Union Street. OMG! I love MAC makeup! She called ahead and told them that she was calling on behalf of her husband, who is a crossdresser, and could she bring me in, in girl mode for a makeover. They said no problem and I was booked in for 4.00pm. First though, we did stuff like riding cable cars, and a little shopping...all with me en femme. Here’s a picture of us on a cable car.

We then went on to spend a couple of hours in the Museum of Modern Art. You’re not supposed to take pictures but Marla managed to sneak one of me.

Then we had some lunch and walked around the city for a little longer.

Then it was time for my MAC appointment. I must admit I started to get cold feet because by this time my makeup had deteriorated and I had a little mustache shadow showing through and so I didn’t feel my best. When I don’t feel I’m at my best I don’t feel confident, and when I don’t feel confident I start to get nervous when en femme in public places. Anyway, after Marla telling me in no uncertain terms that she did not want to cancel and that we’d have fun, I relented and we went.
We met Glenn who was our very nice (and very camp) makeup artist :D He instantly made me feel at ease and was very encouraging, saying how he was going to make me look beautiful. The first thing he did was remove all my makeup. This was a bit scary because although I still had my wig on, Glenn got called away for about 6 or 7 minutes and I felt a bit exposed sitting there with my mustache shadow and that now everyone could tell I was in a guy wearing women’s clothes about to be made up. It’s funny how (for me) the makeup and wig is like being behind a mask. Here’s a pic of Glenn working on me.

During the whole time Glenn always treated me like a woman and called me by my “public femme name” of Rachel (Angel is more for online) and talked me through what he was doing and also gave me application tips. Afterwards Marla had a foundation color match (where Glenn completely redid her foundation) she had her lips done too. Here’s a picture of us all together when we were done.

Finally, we decided that since it was now 6.30pm and we were all made up, but nowhere to go, we should go out to dinner. It was a little cold by this time, so we didn’t want to walk around too long and settled on a little Chinese place a couple of blocks from the MAC store. Here’s a pic the waitress took before the meal.

All in all it was the most memorable birthday I’ve ever had. :D
