Or do you? Men and women smell differently because of the products they buy and wear on a daily basis... And I'm always looking for traces of someone's scent as they pass in front of me! They are like a comet spewing out molecules of fragerence and I'm the planet plowing through there debris field!! (Ok maybe a little too dramatic but you get the point!! Hehe).

What brought this on, I was down stairs getting a diet soda and got behind a guy the overpowering smelled of bay rum or one of those old scents you get when you get your hair cut from an old barber.. Remember that? Smelled like someones grandfather!! So as I walked up stairs and my nose cleared, I started to smeel my scent, Secret female deoderent and L'oreal facial skin cream.... Very flowery and fem.. And I wondered what the guy behind me was thinking about my molecular debris field!! Lol

So, when your not enfemme, what would the person behind you think you smelled like, the typical male or more femalish, or somewhere in between?

Well, if they had an acute sense of smell, they'd think Feminine. I use Secret (powder scent) deodorant and sometimes Escada perfume.

I really like this question, Karren! I think that on most days, I'm probably exuding a mixed scent. I use Secret and other women's deodorants almost every day. I seldom use men's colognes or after shave, but I occasionally use a skin moisturizer called "Pleasures." It's made for men, but it has a little sweetness in its aroma.
I have some Estee Lauder skin products that I use (not every day). When I'm wearing them, I imagine that I am probably giving a more feminine sensory signal.
Like you, I often concentrate on scent when I pass or am following women. And I tend to notice men's fragrances too.

'Molecular debris field'? Whatta gnarly phrase!

I saw an ad for KISS cologne - both men and women's (supposedly).

A big X-mas no-no, I would think.

Don't mind me posting on my own thread here but Linnea's post about not wearing mens colognes jogged a few brain cells.... The few that are left! Lol. But years ago my wife bought me some Gilette mens after shave cream lotion and it was very manly....so I doctored it up by pouring in drops from 2 or 3 of her perfumes... One day she caught a whiff of me as I left the bathroom and said "what are you wearing?". The stuff you bought me.... End of discussion!!! Hehehe

Karren,

You never cease to amaze me. That was a very cosmic description for an Engineer, and a good question. I use Dove as an anti-perspirant, but wear no cologne or perfume. I spent too many years in medical and wasn't allowed to wear scented fragrances so it's not in my habit. Maybe I should put on my Christmas wish list.

My favorite cologne/perfume (now sadly discontinued, but I have one bottle left) is a unisex scent from Xan Kim called Merge. Definitely a feminine smell, but marketed as unisex.

My new smell is Kenzo Amour. It's marketed to women, but pretty close to Merge. I've had complements about it from girls while in boy mode, so I guess it's a good choice.

The other smells on me are my hair product (Bed Head Dumb Blonde) and my soap (Softsoap Cashmere), which probably produce a feminine overall odor. I do wear Old Spice deoderant/antipersperant, but in fragrance free.

My hair smells like grapes every day with the Aussie Mega shampoo and conditioner. Otherwise, I'm wearing men's deodorant and VS Very Sexy 2 (men's) cologne. I smell like a guy. :(

And Karren, your story about "doctoring" up the cologne with your wife's perfume made me laugh. I told my SO about it and she laughed too!

I've gotten compliments on my scent sometimes, and it's my deodorant--Queen Helene Natural Mint Julep, sold at health food stores. But I've moved to another city and can't find it here. Other than that, it's usually just Ivory soap on body and hair. I used to use a strong pine tar shampoo, but it smells too much like a granddad. I know I should use more than bar soap on my long hair, so sometimes I get a tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner.

I guess I smell like the typical male, 'cause I use unscented male deoderant when in drab, that's it, no lotions, colognes, after shave, etc. When en femme, I do use a little perfume and female antiperspirant. I really like that.

Karren Hun that avatar pic is the best. I think you have found your look.

Now to answer your question. Swave bath and body gel. And baby powder scented Secret deodorant. I don't do any other scents as a guy but I did put on Obsession perfume one morning on my day off (got lonesome for the fragrance of it) and the wife in rare mood gave me a big hug. The second thing I thought was "Oh Shit She's Gonna Notice", But she said not a word. I don't see how she couldn't notice. Maybe she's getting use to the idea I like to smell nice too as well as dress.:D

Good question Karren. I like Beautiful by Estee Lauder when I go out at night sometimes the next morning running late for work I skip the colonge and rush out the door. Maybe thats why I get some strange looks at work. That and the eye shadow.

My scent is from Bath & Body Works Cucumber melon shower gel and body lotion. I use the body lotion in lieu of aftershave lotion. I sometimes use CK One by Calvin Klein. It is a unisex body lotion and cologne. Many women have complimented me on the CK One.

So, when your not enfemme, what would the person behind you think you smelled like, the typical male or more femalish, or somewhere in between?

For years I was nothing but an Old Spice Guy. TheEx would sometimes buy some guy deodorant or after shave which I would use. Four or so years ago, I met a lady who worked part time at Nordstrom's. A few weeks after we met, she gave me one of those little sampler sprays. Said she really like it, that I should try it. Michael for Men by Michael Kors. I won't say it's feminine, but it sure is a long way from Old Spice. Hrrrmmm can a smell be androgynous? :-). I still use it. The Lady.. that never really went anywhere.

I do use a variety of "citrus" shower gels.

I have no idea if I smell fem or not.

Lady speed stick, lavender.

Or if i'm feeling relaly femme then Speed stick - Rose - very powerful though.

I've noticed since I went on hormones, and even the herbs - I don't smell as bad as I used to!
Seriously, I dont' smell myself even when I'm working - and it's not that I got used to it, I could two years ago.....
Shaving the pits may help that too, I dunno....

Then on top of that I use lotion on m y legs every day and I can smell it - sweat pea and violet Suave body lotion :)

I definitely have a femme smell and people at work commented on it one time and only one time.

Now if I could, oh my - Jontuê is my perfume of choice...

So I had this spinster Aunt, a delightfully innocent soul. When I was in college she bought me a Jean Nate womens perfume gift set one Christmas. I am sure she meant to buy one of the mens' scent products under the line but she didn't. Of course I was all a-tremble inside over getting to wear a woman's scent - but that Jean Nate scent was just not one I could call my own.

I do love my wife's Gio on either of us, and I have long worn Halston Z-14, a woodsy, mossy, citrusy fragrance - I guess its kinda dating me.

I think many if not most fragrances are pretty unisex nowadays, despite marketing efforts to the contrary. There must be a 1,000 mens cologne products out there and untold womens. So sticking with one is pretty self limiting, and Christmas is the perfect time to cure that!

I added a few new ones to my "wish list" . . . Polo Black is one that caught my fancy. And of course this time of year the cosmetic aisle at any major department store is a treat where we can linger dressed in drab or not. . . .

I start out my day smelling like the fruit flavored body wash I've used and by the end of the day it's a delightful combination of various odors I've picked up from different customers garages, (Old and dusty furniture, damp mold and mildew, wet dog, and their droppings, topped off with a heavy spray of WD-40)

I don't use any perfumes... some maybe OK... some I'm alergic to, I think I hate :thumbsdn: musk, not sure... some perfumes make me :( sneeze or want to vomit... I don't think that's the desired affect.

I kinda thought the thread might have been about  body odor... I mean do you ever get people telling you that you stink? Are people more concerned over how you :evilbegon smell than how you dress?

Karen, I really like the look in your new avatar. Mahvelous.

I shampoo and wash with the new Loreal shampoo which has a pretty gardenia scent. I really like it. It makes my skin feel softer and smoother, as well. I use a variety of womens deoderants. No anti-persperants since their active ingredients always include aluminum. And I like a variety of perfumes. My favorite perfume on other girls is Giorgio Red, but it never seems to smell quite the same on me. Still looking for a favorite there. My routine is the same in drab or en femme except for the ladies perfumes. I just don't do any additional scents when in drab.

I'm not much of a perfume/cologne user. I currently use Old Spice High Endurance antiperspirant...

I use a "citrus" smelling body wash that wakes me up in the morning, I like scented body washes, but I've never been much of a cologne or purfume wearer. I mostly just try not to have that sweaty body oder smell. My wife has a rather interesting oder when she comes home from work, makes me hungry.:D

I have no idea Karen, but it is a fun question. One thing I have noticed since I embraced my life as a "Twospirit person." I have improved my hygeene one hundred procent. I shower every morning, keep my face clean and shaved, as well as the rest of my body. I dress booring as a male but cute and appealing as Sejd. How do I smell? Clean I think. LOL

I too want to smell like a woman ( even in guy mode) ... but stop short of the Celine Dion perfume I wear when I get enfemme. I also use secret powder deoderant. I also use the Body & Bath body lotions on my legs and chest. I like either the Lavender or the Jasmine the best. I have the jasmine on today

I am wearing it to please me. I kinda push the envelope but so be it

I have been worried about that. I am not using perfume regularly (yet). But between the hand lotion, the body lotion, fragranced soaps, conditioners, and moisturizers I really wonder what people are thinking. No comments yet.

Let me guess, Karren, are you a nuclear engineer?
