When I have read many post here, I have seen references to a MAC store or a MAC makeover or what not. Can anyone please tell me what a MAC store is? And how do I find one, thank you.

MAC was originally started in 1985 in Toronto, Canada. Their makeup was first designed to be used in fashion photo shoots. The intense lighting used and glare caused a lot of make-up to be lost in photography, so the company set to develop a line that was strong enough for these types of photo shoots but also broad enough to provide new colors and products for make-up artists' to be creative in fashion, photography, and movies.
Nowadays you find them amongst other "quality makeup companies" in large department stores such as Macys, however there are 19 (I think it is) "stand alone" Pro MAC stores in the world that offer more products and different, "more professional lines". I recently visited one in San Fransisco. Also, MAC is now owned by Estée Lauder and the company is based in New York City.

You've gotten the answers, though I will add that MAC is EXTREMELY friendly to crossdressers!

I've seen MAC stores as part of Macy's stores, they kind of have their own separate area. People mention they are CD friendly. I can't say for sure, but they didn't mind me popping in and asking a couple of questions.

I've also read of them adding filler to their products, though I don't know how true that is.

Two malls nearby each have a MAC store in them so I guess I'm pretty lucky. :) Most Nordstrom's will have a MAC counter as well.
As stated above, high quality makeup and trained makeup artists. They do makeovers but they cost from 40 to 80 dollars depending on the type (its been a couple of years since I had it do so I might be off on the amounts.) 40 for a simple makeover, 80 for a makeover with instruction. The price also included discounts on any product bought that day or the next week.

They charge?!? I though most places it was free? Isn't that the point of a makeover is to get you to buy stuff. How likely is it someone would buy something after forking out 40 to 80 bucks? If it's true, that's crazy.

You can use MAC's store locator. (http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/door/finder.tmpl)
Unfortunately, it looks like your closest stores are in the Denver or Salt Lake City areas.
As far as makeovers, if you book a formal make-over session, then yes they do charge (although purchases are counted against it). OTOH, if you just go up to the counter and ask to try out something specific -- i.e. lips, eyes, blush, foundation) there's no charge for that. Although if you decide to buy something, it's expected that you'll buy from the artist who worked on you. Both are pretty standard practices.
