View Full Version : Strange but happy moment at thrift store

Yesterday evening I had the strangest thing happen to me. I stopped by the thrift store on my way home (in drab, of course). As I walked in I headed straight for a round rack I saw with skirts on it. There was a GG on the other side of the rack also shopping. As soon as I got there she remarked how there happened to be so many clothes to choose from that day. She asked me what size I was looking for. I told her 16 if elastic, 18 with no elastic. She was incredibly fast and kept throwing stuff my way. Several times during the next 20 minutes in different parts of the store she came and asked me if I was interested in this beautiful blouse that would go great with the grey skirt I already had... if I wanted capri pants, there was this pair that looked like it had never been worn...

All told I tried about 15 skirts on and the capris. I walked out with 2 skirts, the capris, and the blouse. I never would have tried the capris. I did accept them just to be nice. But they fit me so nicely! I could not pass them up. All in 20 minutes!

Strange... wonderful.. a little embarrassing... if I could only ask her to come with me always!

I really enjoy thirft stores. I always go in drab and I think it is cool to see the way women act when they see me buying all kinds of female clothing and never even go to the mens section. It does not bother me in the least and the ladies there all know me and tease me about what I am getting.

I had an older lady explain to me that I was in the thrift store's wrong section once. They were not shirts but blouses I was looking at. She explained that I should have been able to tell as the buttons were on the wrong side.

At my thrift store there is one section for lingerie and other items I am looking for. I hit the racks, ignore everyone during my search (which is always a hit and run but I always do well) and go right to the cashier. So far my story is I shop for my girlfriend. I don't think any boyfriend is so nice as to shop for his woman every other day! LOL

What a neat story. Funny things happen when you are honest to others about crossdressing. I quit using stories and excuses while shopping years ago.

The thrift stores (I like Value Village) are fun. I shopped in guy mode mostly before halloween, but also on some other occasions. At halloween, the cashiers assume its for fun so they make funny comments and smile like, you will look cute in that etc. On the other days they don't say much but I can see the look an their faces and they think it is a bit odd, but I figure I have a million good reasons for me to be there so I'm prepared not with an escuse, but a question "What do you think it is for?". Sometimes I still get nervous, but usually wait for the cashier to be open so I don't have to wait in line.

The customers are funny...sometimes you get some odd looks, but for the most part people leave you alone. If someone says something I would just say something non specific like "my wife and I love this place". I find if you just shop like you belong and ignore the other shoppers it goes well. There is no problem trying stuff on either. Actually on my last halloween visit there was a group of three young guys looking for stuff and having fun doing it and I had to smile when we were reaching around each other looking at female shoes for correct sizes.

I think I'm going to start going to thrift shops. It sounds like it could be fun!

i was at the value village yesterday myself. all clothing was 1/2 price. but i stuck to my list and got black pants ($2) and a black cardigan (25c). value village is nice 'cause it's cheap and well organized--at least by color.

The thrifts around my area have clothing that is generally about 10% of the original cost. Sometimes a bit more, if the item still has the original tags on it. The new items are fun to find.

Michelia, maybe she was enjoying herself as much as you were. Maybe she is looking for a cder to date. Or maybe her husband is a cder and she knows what you go through. But does it really matter, it was an enjoyable time.

The first time a gal in thrift shop ask me a question, it took me a moment to respond as i was thinking who me and looking around. But she just wanted my opinion on something and I was in guy mode like I usually am. I have had several people ask me how something looks, which is nice because it makes it easier for me to follow with any questions I have with what I am holding.

Just enjoy it, you are just shopping remember,

Been in several feminine only consignment shops. They all are very eager to help & let you try things on. They seem to have much nicer things than thrift shops. Again, a $ale is a $ale.
