It just had been mentioned in a TV-show here that in the USA 2 % of the men brought to a hospital wear fem undies.
That's quite a lot, if this is true.
Have you heard of that ?
Is there a source ?

Sounds a lot too low. 10% at least would probably be a better number. Unless they have had a chance to change first.

One in fifty--that seems to me to be high, but I certainly don't know. I would also be surprised to find a credible source for a statistic like that. I really doubt that hospitals keep track of what kind of underwear anyone is wearing when people are admitted. However, if I had to go to the hospital right now, they would discover that I'm wearing fem underwear.

I never get dressed at all unless I can get dressed all the way. That 2% would probably go up a bit if you counted serious cders brought in not wearing anything feminine.

Hello Marla,
I noticed that you are from Germany. The 2% admitted to a hospital over there, that you mentioned in this post might be true there in Germany. The percenatge of males that engage in crossdressing might be slightly different than those that do the same thing here in the U.S. I have forgotten who did a poll over here in the U.S. but I do recall hearing a few years back that around 5% of the males engage in crossdressing here in some degree. Given that very few men will actually admitt to crossdressing that poll is flawed. Out of that 5% I am not sure how much of that percentage were admitted to a hospital. Perhaps half of that 5%, which might make German crossdressers and American crossdressers equal in percenatges.
Now as a public service announcement, Please be careful while traveling or walking about. At this time of year with all the festivities going on, please do not drink and drive, be aware of your surroundings, and if possible try not to get into areas alone. The world can be a dangerous place for all GG's, CD's, and FTM's. I would hate to think of something serious going wrong against you good people on this forum.

This is a question that is almost impossible to answer. When a person goes to the ER they are not automatically stripped. The only time one would have to take off his pants would be for an acute illness or for a leg injury. The medical staff in the ER are too busy treating people to take an accurate account of peoples underwear.
Let this be a lesson to us all, be sure to always wear clean panties, you never know when you may wind up in the hospital.

I did a quick search with Google and found the same statement on another forum.
They speak of emergency rooms, which would explain that there is some sort of statistics. But there hasn't been any source neither.

An article by some Swedish researchers provides some related data.

We used a random sample of 2,450 18-60 year-olds in the general population of Sweden to study the prevalence as well as the social, sexual, and health correlates of transvestic fetishism (sexual arousal from cross-dressing). Almost three percent (2.8%) of men and 0.4% of women reported at least one episode of transvestic fetishism. Separation from parents, same-sex sexual experiences, being easily sexually aroused, pornography use, and higher masturbation frequency were significantly associated with transvestic fetishism. A positive attitude to this sexual practice and paraphilia indicators--sexual arousal from using pain, exposing genitals to a stranger, and spying on others having sex--were particularly strong correlates to the dependent variable.

However 'one episode' relates to 'fetishism' ???

Well, I went to the hospital one time with panties on. I forgot that I had them on. It was years ago and a guy used my face for a punching bag.

Hi Marla,

I first heard that figure back in the 1970's in a magazine (Transvestia) published by Tri-Ess, a support organization for hetero CD's here. Virginia Prince was the publisher and head of Tri-Ess, and I don't remember how she arrived at that figure.

I seem to recall that it was 2% of males were believed to have crossdressed in some form on a regular basis, not neccessarily that they wore women's undies, but that was a long time ago, so things might be different now.

I remember reading a post on another forum from a nurse who worked in an emergency room, she said from her own experience she reckoned 2-3% of men who were admitted were wearing panties. So I would say 2% is a pretty solid number to use. The interesting angle to this is then to extrapolate what this means for the total number of crossdressers. If we estimate that say 25% of cds wear panties en drab then that would indicate a total cd population of 8% of males although active cds will be much less than this.
