I had a great time shopping to day, and learned something that I had not known before. I went to a local Nordstrom's to get a birthday present for my son. I was dressed totally enfemme, including forms in my bra, and wearing lipstick! While there, I decided to get myself another pair of jeans. They carry a brand called "Not Your Daughters Jeans," and they are by far the best fitting that I have ever worn.

Anyhow, I picked out a pair to buy and then noticed that there were some sale racks. Of course, being the girl that I am, I had to check them out. As I was perusing the sale racks an SA came up and asked if I wanted her to "start a dressing room" for me. Since I know my sizes very well, I rarely have to try things on, so I said "no." As she was checking out my purchases, I asked her if they did let men try on things in the womens department. she laughed, and said, "sure, lots of men do. The doors lock you know so you are safe." I will be buying more from Nordies!! Can't wait to try on a dress there!

For those of you too young to know, Nordstroms initiated the practice of "personal shoppers". Seems that in Seattle where Nordstroms started they were getting calls form big buck executive types asking for merchandise to be brought to their offices as they were too busy to "shop" Nordstroms responded only to find out that most of the execs who called were cds who asked for ball gowns, dresses and lingerie. Not a dumb company by any means, they quickly realized the profit potential as these execs spent thousands in 60's money to maintain their privacy and yet still indulge their "hobby" Nordstroms expanded the program, provided training to its staff as well as making sure that the sales reps were cool enough not to laugh or react incorrectly to some big shot strolling around his corner office in a dress and never looked back. They continue to this day to be the most CD/TV friendly store on the planet. Now if they would only lower their prices!! LOL

I was treated like a queen (the royal kind) when I bought some boots at their Overland Park KS store. If only there were one nearer to me now than that one and the one in Dallas.

Very interesting. My SO loves Nordstroms and I like browsing their stuff too. I don't think I've actually bought anything for myself there though...

You have to love December. Two days. Two parties. Two coctail dresses.

Both dresses bought at Nordstrom.com. Both dresses fit like a dream. Both dresses got LOTs of compliments, the sincere kind. I agree with the price being a bit steep. Sometimes you have to pay for quality.

You get what you pay for, and the service is just part of what you get.

I would like to echo the praises of Nordstrom's for being welcoming and helpful to cross dressers. My wife and I have shopped together at Nordstrom's for years. Initially I shopped in drab with her but after we recognized how welcoming the SA's were, we both felt more comfortable with me in femme. It just seemed more appropriate trying clothes on and using the women's dressing rooms while looking and feeling like a lady.

I also love Nordstroms. I went there for my first bra fitting and had a great experience. Also, they have shoes in larger sizes, I have in mind a pair of red high heels (ala Kellie Pickler). They are a bit pricey, but I do love them....Stephanie

For the budget conscious, don't forget about Nordstrom Rack outlets. The Rack discounts many of the big ticket items that were overstocked or out of season at the regular Nordstrom stores. Definitely some good deals to be had!
