Has anyone seen the movie about Christine Jorgenson? She was the first Male to Female sex change. I know there was a movie made many years ago. It was called of all things (The Christine Jorgenson Story). I was just wondering if anyone has seen this Movie???

There was also another movie that I seen a few years ago and I know that they still show it from time to time, it was called (The Lady Bugs). It was about a boy trying to get around his dream girl, so he joined the soccer team she was on. It was really funny and in the end of the Movie he told her theat he was a boy, but she still wanted him as a girl friend.:hugs: I was just wondering if anybody has seen it also???

I have Ladybugs on DVD. It wasn't about crossdressing as I had thought (and perhaps hoped), but I still liked it.

It's a fun movie!

Hugs,
Lisa

As you can see, there is money in them thar panties! Notice that many movies started extreemly small and finished big! Some of my personal favorite are: To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar-Transamerica- and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Not on this list I also loved Some Like It Hot, and the little known but once famous Myra Brekenridge.

The finest film featuring crossdressing has to be Glen or Glenda by Ed Wood Jr. one of America's finest masters of the cinema. Fifty-eight stars, check it out.

The movie “loosely”based on the CJ story, written by Gore Vidal I believe is...... Myra Breckenridge. I quote from some web site on the film itself, its been decades since I've seen it, and don't remember more than Raquel Welch is a major babe.

Raquel Welch usually delivers great eye candy in her films, sometimes giving great performances, making most of them at least memorable due to her appearance. MYRA BRECKENRIDGE, despite having Welch star in the title role, is not saved by anything. Despite having a cool cast and some interesting oddball antics, BRECKENRIDGE is embarrassing for the viewer, the cast, the crew, even the VCR that is playing it!

Rex Reed (good-looking, but horrible) is Myron, a gay guy who gets a sex change from doctor John Carradine (terrible) and becomes Myra (Raquel Welch, who is good). Myra worms her way into her uncle Buck Loner (pathetic John Huston)'s acting academy, teaching a class on the history of motion pictures. She sodomizes a sexy southern stud and then steals his girlfriend (Farrah Fawcett!). Thrown into the mix is top-billed Mae West, who contributes what amounts to a cameo as a hideous embalmed agent who has sex with her exclusively male clients. Tom Selleck (minus mustache, but still recognizable) is one of her first studs. Add to this mess clips from old films to help "narrate" the action, two songs by West, ludicrous dialogue, Rex Reed masturbating, and a pretty dumb ending and MYRA BRECKENRIDGE may be worth seeing for fans of extremely horrible films.

Despite my love for so-bad-it's-good films (i.e., VALLEY OF THE DOLLS), BRECKENRIDGE didn't do it for me. It was just too jumbled, unlikable, and boring. Yes, boring! In-between the outrageous and tasteless sexual innuendo, there is boring dialogue and attempted humor that falls flat. Slow viewers will no doubt be confused throughout the entire film and those looking for cheap thrills will feel cheated. While women will feel fulfilled with all the hunks floating throughout the film, men will be disappointed in the lack of any female nudity. Welch does not do nude scenes, unfortunately, and Fawcett does not bare any flesh. Thank God West didn't volunteer her ample endowments!!!

MYRA BRECKENRIDGE could be fun viewing for some cult film fans, but it just didn't work for me. While some scenes do stand out (the sodomy scene, West's musical numbers), BRECKENRIDGE just was too boring for me. I actually fell asleep in the middle of it! Not highly recommended, but those who are curious owe it to themselves to at least say that they've seen it!

I saw the movie about Christine in the early 70's. At the time I was contemplating transition or a "sex change" as it was called back then. It was kind of a "sleeper" I thought but it meant a lot to me. I'm not sure if the lead (I think his name was John Hart) actually did transition or was a drag queen. I thought some of the scenes, especially the ones with breasts were somewhat convincing. There seemed to be a sort of pathos about it in the respect that without the surgery, Christine really didn't want to continue living. I've come close to that but have realized I'm who I am regardless of what external "equipment" I have.

When I was about 10 & staying with my grand parents for the holidays, my grandmother told me that she thought I should watch the movie that had just started on TV. It was The Christine Jorgenson Story. Maybe she knew something...

There was also a movie in the 80s called Hes my Girl, I would rate it as a B+.

I finally found her autobiography and am anxiously awaiting its arrival for a good Christmas read. I've been looking for this book for a long time and found a first printing in good shape. How many of you out there have read it and are holding on to it?

Did like the movie The Hot Chick (alas too little is shown of how the man copes with being the Hot chick) which follows a teen who wakes up a man and 'her' quest to change back!

Unfortunately I also bought the White Chicks dvd turned it off less than half way through and threw it in the bin! That movie sucks big time. :thumbsdn:

Different for girls is a very good low budget film

I looked on netflix and they do not have the movie. Turns out the movie has not been released on DVD in the U.S. There is a DVD but it is encoded for region 2 (europe) and will not play on most US players. If I could get the movie I have software to make it watchable in the US and to make copies.

It's not as bad as its reputation but, yes, Tekla is right - it is largely dull. I wish I could get a copy of the opening credit sequence without the credits - Ms. Welch's white dress is not to be believed.

(Many insights to be found in the book - a used copy should go for under $5.)

Bethany provides a great, long list.

I'm presuming she omitted M Butterfly because the characterization is so negative. I would have expected better of Cronenberg.

It will be interesting to to see if She's Not There gets made as a movie. Boyan, the author, has bigtime Hollywood experience, and since it was a strong selling book ...

I highly recommend Just Like a Woman. It is probably the only movie about a well adjusted hetro male cross dresser. Only drawback is back when it was made they were still using the term "transvestite" which I think is not usually used by the cross dressing community.

I am really surprised at the posts to this thread. I believe that BethanyGirl has the knowledge about all the movies. I don't know where she came up with this info, but it is quite extensive. Thank you to all that have posted and may many others get some valuable information here.
