Yes, but it does mean that the desire is gone forever. It's a bit like smoking. I know people who have not smoked in 20 years, yet they still on occasion, get the urge. It's a matter of will power and choices.

I think it also depends on the reasons the you CD in the first place. If for example, it came about due to sexual frustration, you might find it replaced by a fulfilling sex life. If on the other hand, CD is a precursor to revealing TG tendencies, then I am not so sure that it can be suppressed.

This may be an over simplistic awnser but for the tg(as I am TG,as I understand the meaning)to quit is out of the question as it is just not natural.
To put it another way, if I am not dressed at last to some degree I do not feel that I am complete,as though a part of me has been left out.In short I need to dress to feel whole and to be who I am. Hope that helps some.

I can't picture myself ever quitting unless I got to a place in my life circumstances in which there just wasn't time or a way to dress or enough extra money for me to shop.I can tell you this much,I'd be brimming over with disgust.I'd be madder than hell.Samantha

As Jennaie said, you can go "on the wagon" but the possibility will always be there. It's a part of you and you can never really escape it totally. Ericka Kay

I don't know if they totally quit. But I see quite a few girls that had web pages and/or used to go out clubbing that suddenly dissappear and you don't see or hear of them again.

Nobody gets out. It's like the mafia. Once you're in, you're in for life. Don't even think about getting out.:D

I think there are some of us here that have tried to do this before and you begin again at a later time and ask yourself... ''Why did I try to quit and throw my stuff out? Wish I hadn't.''
But if your really sure of yourself, do it. Only you can make the choice.

Depends on how you define "quit". People can go in and out of the closet, but the tendency is still going to be there. It's much like alcoholism...you can stop drinking, but you could always fall back into it.
I've stopped multiple times in my life, sometimes for a couple of years, but the urge is still there. I'm actually in a bit of a down cycle right now...haven't dressed in three weeks, and I'm getting a little hairy. I haven't really had much of an urge to even go shopping the last few weeks.
At least I'm not dumb enough to ever purge again....

I've purged as we say a couple of times, but now that the SO is supportive. My problem is the off-spring. "Daddy's don't wear bras", my daughter once told me. She was only about 7 at the time, so I make sure that I dress when she is not around. Now that she is 13, I should probably come out of the closet to her but that's another thread.

No, not completely and successfully. I gave it up for a long time, but it didn't give me up. Not complaining, though.

Why on earth would anyone want to quit? It is such a rush and so much fun!
