Hi girls,

My wife and 3 year old are going to be out of town tomorrow so I'm thinking of going out. I remember there was someone here that was going to be in the area this week and thought I'd offer (and ask) for the company!
Haven't decided if I'll go out alone or not, so if your still interested let me know as early as possible!

See ya'!

You would give me the strength to go out. I wish I could hop a plane and join you. It just would be too expensive for me. Sigh...
I thought that someone did say something about Houston yesterday. It wasn't you, I don't think. Wish you luck. Wish I could remember who.

I would, but I'm not sure what my wife has planned for the weekend. Plus I have a sta lker. If you have never had one, they add a real dimension to your life... I think I will not be able to go "out" for awhile. :( My wife and I would be delighted to meet you sometime.

Where are some of the good places to go in Austin?
Hi Sarah,

I don't know that I'd go so far as to call it "Good", but I usually hang out at 'Bout Time. It's on I35 just north of 183. It's not the nicest place you've ever seen, but it is decent and very friendly.
Other places that I have been once are "Charlies" and the "1920's" club. Charlies is primarily gay men (I did see SOME TG's there), a younger crowd, and a little bit of a "meat market". Again, keep in mind that this opinion is based on one visit and so may be suspect. The 1920's was a very nice and comfortable place, where you can actually sit down and talk with out screaming - kind of classy as I recall.

If you are interested in your options, I found this web page that you might want to look at:
http://www.gayaustin.net/barmap.htm
I see lots of other places listed but I have never been to them.

Thanks Kimberly.

Sarah,

Trust me on this - you are perfectly safe and welcome at 'Bout Time. If you go on a Friday or Saturday after 9PM there is a 100% chance that you will not be the only TGirl there. If you are not 100% passable (I'm not either) you don't have to worry about. The girls there run the gambit from drop dead gorgous to . . . well, lets just say the other end of the spectrum. :-)
So if the only thing keeping you home is your fear of going out in drag, your missing out on a lot of fun for no good reason!

Well,

I did go out, but it wasn't all that exciting. I sat next to people I didn't know and just started chatting with a GG. She was having a bad day and I tried to get her to smile. I told her it wasn't a good idea to take things so seriously, then I pointed to myself and said "See, case in point"!
There was one "girl" there getting ready to do a lip sync act and I asked if she would mind if I looked the music she was considering. She gave me a dirty look and told me yes she minded. That sort of set the tone for the rest of the night. :-(
One thing about the night that DID impress me. I met a drop dead gorgeous Tgirl who came down from Ft Hood to go out. As anyone who has read my posts probably knows by now, I spent over a decade Active duty Army so I have a real soft spot for those that serve out country. I told her I was very proud of her in several ways. That she has the courage to go out while on active duty, and that she was serving her country. She probably thought I was a flake, but oh well . . .

In all honesty, I normally wouldn't have posted this pic as I think the five o clock shadow is far too obvious. Out of the six pics I took, this was the best. Anyway, this is me the other night.

Kim, like I've told you before, you're a cutie... too bad you ran into a couple of grouches. (And you're no flaky bearded lady)!

You look great! As said before, the camera will show up flaws sometimes. Us average people don't know squat about taking pictures, but the professional ones really show off your best features. I wouldn't worry about the shadow, with the lighting in clubs, I'm sure no one noticed.
If I could pass half as good as you, I'd be a happy girl.

Wow Kim,

You look REALLY good! And I don't see any shadow.

You must have just had bad luck and run into a couple of ignorant morons there.

No, Kim...you're not a flake. You said some very kind and caring things to that girl.

You look fabulous! I especially love your hair!

Kim - You look beautiful in that pic and we all know that you're no flake. I'm sure if that girl from Ft. Hood is reading this, she knows it too. And to her, we say, You go, girl!
