Last week at Jacki's I tried on one of her wigs. I have been reluctant to buy any other styles because I'm horrible when it comes to returning things, so if I didn't like it it would probably just sit on a shelf. So it was nice to have the opportunity to try something different w/o buying it.

Yesterday I was at Jacki's again and tried on another of her wigs and asked her if I could do another test run. Then I had her take some pics.

My wife took picture of me with the short blonde wig to work to show some of the ladies she works with and had them compare that the long brunette one. Hands down winner was the short blonde wig. One lady said if she didn't already know it was me she would have thought I was a woman. I've never head that before! :D

So here's a pic with the three styles. Which do you think looks best?

HI JULIE!

You look great in all of them. I am used to you in "C" but you definately look good in "B". I know I have to vote on one, but to clarify, I am really choosing B & C. The poll vote is for B though since I can only choose one.

This is tough, but there's something about the 'A' wig that captures a look that's distinctly fem to me. 'C' is still a close second runner up only because I'm partial to it. That's my .02 ;)

Well..., I like the style of wig "B," but prefer the color of wig "C."

Although 'B' does look very good also, I choose 'C'.

I just like longer hair.

Julie you look great in all three, but since I can only pick one, I picked "A". I just liked that look on you the best of the three.

You look great in all three of them. I think they all work, but to me, the only "Julie" has long dark hair. Huggs, Bonnie

My wife liked A best, and I thought B was quite sassy, but C looks the most natural on you...

B makes you look younger. C is good too, and I'm used to this one though. A? To be honest, not good at all to me.

We all have different tastes, however.

Hi, Julie ! ! !

I voted "B" just because it is a nice change for you and has more of a "day" look to it. Very good style, too. Short hair styles seem to be preferred, these days, by many women. If you do decide to get a wig like this one... try to find one that is a bit longer but very much the same style and color. http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

The longer brunette wig is great for the evenings and dressier occasions. I like the way you style it in different ways... so don't get rid of it, just yet!!!

I didn't care for the reddish wig... especially the straight bangs. The feathered bangs on wig "B" are much more complimentary.

I was laughing about you not returning things... I do the same thing. :o

Take care, Julie, and hope all is going well with you and your family!!!

It's B for me. Complements the shape of your face.
The ladies at my wife's work said the same thing. I have heard several times my usual wig is too young, too dark, too long, etc. What I like about it is how it is around my face. I agree it's too long as it's kind of a pain when putting on a coat or necklace or when leaning back and it gets snagged. What I really liked about B was how it showed the earrings. I have to work my regular wig a bit to allow for that.

My wife said I need to realize that as we age our hair gets lighter. I don't know what she's talking about as I don't know what aging is. :D

Tomorrow I'm going to stop in at a wig place nearby and see if I can find something that best compliments my face and taste. I'd really like to get one custom made as my head is a bit 'grande'. :o

B, hands down. I've always been partial to perky blondes, but I never thought I could pull of the look myself. After seeing you this way, I may have to try it! You look terrific in that wig. Windy

Julie, I had to go with (c) I like the longer darker hair that I have always seen you with. I think ot rounds out your face more. (A) would be nice it just a little longer. Just my thinks only,

I voted for C. I like the other wigs too but there's something about C that just brings everything together and it looks really great in my opinion. :)

Hi Julie,
I had to say B. Not only is the color right for you but the shape seems to fit your face. I also have to say that you look great in all of them.

I totally agree that the short styles are what more women are wearing these days, and they do show off the earrings a bit better, but I would also add that those women do not have the same needs that us girls do. The longer styles just seem to deflect some attention away from things like our jaw bones, thicker necks and broader shoulders... For me atleast.

Yes... short styles are currently in vogue but I really enjoy my longer wigs because I can wear them up, brushed back, feathered into my face, etc. I have a rather short wig that looks great... but, the over-all appearence is definitely not as feminine. I'm 5'9'' and full figured in the shoulders... a mid-length wig that is full at the sides does seem to balance the over-all illusion.

I also love my earrings to show but, again, a lot of women wear little posts most of the time. Fortunately, larger dangles do not seem out of place on me.

There is this major conflict... wanting to be authentic!!! ...and wanting to be fabulous!!! At this stage of my journey... I do tend to want the luxurious, over-dressed look... but there are just not enough garden parties or formal occasions that I can attend!!! :p

The journey continues......... :)

Hi Julie,

I've not voted because I'm torn between A and C. Each of them has it's own merits.

I think that B makes you look like a TV celebrity from over here called Julian Clary (don't know if you've heard of him over there, you don't hear much of him over here these days).

I'm used to seeing your pic with C on and I've got a thing about long hair, so I like that, but A seems to make you look more feminine and younger.

Thats my ramblings, for what it's worth.

Julie, my preference is wig B, for both style and colour. I think that particular wig gives your face a more oval, more feminine shape. The other two styles seem to 'pull' or 'widen' your face around your cheek level, if you see what I mean. Having said that, something along the lines of wig B, but a little longer, would, I think, be better.

A and B look like the hair belonging to a woman of your age. (Hey I know it's severe but I'm being honest. Do you want honesty, or a load of flim flam?) The C is , well think about your average woman of your age and how seriously bored she would get with all that crimping and dying and curling and whatever. And she'd need to drink gin and wear fishnets to really carry off hair that black.. (Hahaha sorry just playing. No offense meant. Ha yeah it is offensive but it did make me laugh. SORRY! sorry sorry.)

So for a genuine effect you have to go for practical, not too glam and working Mum who hasn't given up yet, wants to look nice. (Or you just end up like some glam queen who is having lots of fun but couldn't pass anywhere anyhoo..) Like me.

So A works absolutely if you ever want to get a job in a library. And B works absolutely if you want to be seen as genuinely fem person with a bit of style.

Hey this is good this. The last person to ask my opinion wanted to know of I prefered Lemsip or Beechams Powders. Now if they'd asked me something INTERESTINg it would have been a lot more fun.

"Try these stocking on....Do you prefer A...or B?......It's been half an hour now...A....or ..B?"

Now Julie, I know for a fact that you have some completely femme looking pics wearing the wig in "C"... Why you did not post one of them is something you have to ask yourself sweetie. If you really want a new wig... get it!!

Just consider it as doing your part to help out an ailing economy. ;)

Hugs and Kisses,
WendyThe reason I put up the pictures I did is that they are all the newest ones I have. The ones of the short blonde hair and my 'usual' look were taken on the same day, same makeup, only the wig and top were different (I regret not having the foresight to just change the wig and not the top, blonde hair and black clothes can be pretty striking). It would have been a more fair comparison.

What I find so interesting is all of the women my wife has shown the pictures to (just the short blonde and long brunette pics) have said the blonde wig hands down. There's been no hesitation. Some have even said they would have not known it was a man had they not already known. Passing is something I have never kidded myself about, I can't. So hearing this gave me new hope.

I have always gone for the look I like. I have never worn something just because I thought I was 'supposed to'. What fun would that be? But when I tried on the short blonde wig it surprised me how I responded. I'm more into dark hair so never considered anything blonde. But seeing me blonde opened my eyes, I need to experiment more. Gosh! Does that mean I have to buy more wigs? What torture! :D But hey, I am willing to endure it. ;)

So, while enjoying the thrill of experimentation, I can help bolster this dismal economy. Who needs Marvin Greenspan anyway? Girls, unite! Spend money on yourselves and help bring up the economy. Nice suggestion Wendy!

PS: I already purchased a sassy short red wig (http://www.about-wigs.com/poetry2by.html) and plan on getting a wig something like this (but in brunette) http://store1.yimg.com/I/about-wigs_1822_4195054

There's some saying about how we shall be judged by our peers or maybe that was just a lot of silly fluff. Anyway, I have put to the test the comparison of the long brunette wig and the short blonde wig. Both genetic males and females have been 'polled'. What I have found is every single GG picked the short blonde wig. The comments I have heard from them is

You look your age
It's more natural
Thr dark wig is too young
I thought this was a woman
I'm jealous, I wish I could look that good (real comment)
Our peers, ideally, are GG's. They have spent a lifetime comparing themselves to other women. It's extremely competitive in the girly world! Just ask one. So they are really the barometer for what works and what doesn't. Are you with me so far?

Okay, I put together a look I like. It may be anything from young to old or ****ty to conservative and all the possibilities in between. I have always dressed the way I like. It's no fun not to. But when I tried on Jacki's wig I loved it! It fit perfectly and I loved how it can be combed and styled so much easier than a curly wig. But I'd like something a bit longer and in a brunette color.

I went to therapy today 'partially dressed'. I had on black jeans, red casual top, gym shoes and a very minimal amount of makeup. I wore spiral earrings and a gold necklace. I also had my own hair which I blow dried to fluff it up. Deb told me I didn't need a wig. She liked my hair, it just needs styling. Problem is, if I style it will I be able to go to work w/o anyone recognizing it's a woman's cut? I just colored it again over the weekend and haven't heard any comments. Maybe men really don't notice details. :p

I reckon it's fun to have more than one wig and style to play with.

My two are different and give different impressions.
