I'm not sure this belongs here but I can't think of a more knowledgeable group of guys to ask. This is a serious request but please feel free to have a little fun if you like.
My wife and I are going to the Tiffinay Clubs First Event. We will be attending both the fashion show, party after (dancing I think) and the awards dinner the nexr night. I believe these events are a least semi formal. She says she doesn't want to, can't, compete with the "girls" and so would like to present a more male persona. My wife is 5'5'' approx. 130 lbs, 38C, shoulder length distinguished white hair,(plans to tie it back other ideas) glasses or contacts.
We would appreciete any ideas or advice on how to do this with a little class. We are willing to consider most anything.

Well, if it's at least semi-formal, I'm thinking a suit or maybe even rent a tux. Does she have a woman's suit that can do double-duty as a man's suit (in other words, that doesn't obviously look like a woman's suit)? No point in her buying a man's suit just for a one-time deal. Or maybe you have one or know of a guy that has one that would fit her. She can then wear a plain shirt and a nice tie.
I once wore a tux to one of my high school reunions, but still presented as female, so she can do the same without having to dress in "drag". She can use make-up, small earrings (if she wears them) and even heels so that it's not as masculine an appearance (if she doesn't want to look "butch"), but she certainly won't be competing with any women.
Does this help?

yes capt Its a begining, thank you... in return you might consider a trip to boston they have a fully restored, ready to sail, battle tested, never lost, 44 gun Frigate with 2 lovely 12 pd stern chasers in the captains quarters. Jack Sparrow would love her.

Somehow I always thought that women in a suit, with heels and make-up, look really stylish!

I've always wanted to see Boston (love historical stuff), but something always comes up when I try to plan it. Would love to see that ship and maybe stea . . . er, I mean . . . commandeer it (nautical term :heehee:).

Even before I knew it was considered "crossdressing", I've been known to wear dress slacks, oversized silky button up shirt with one of my husband's ties loosely knotted. A sportsbra will help keep the girls under control or celebrate them - I never noticed they interfered with the look anyway, especially if you add a jacket (IMO any tailored looking jacket will do)
Most fun part - a man's fadora or similar hat. Don't have to fuss with your hair, and being a woman, you don't have to take it off inside! It's cool to be a girl, sometimes.
First time I wore something like this after my hubby came out of the closet, he just stopped in his tracks for a minute, then laughed. :heehee:

Aside from men's suit wearing, I would also suggest making sure other details are more masculine than feminine. Keep in mind that most men don't wear makeup/nailpolish or tie up their hair with coloful ties. Before you make any final choices, you could try out a few different clothes/hairstyles/etc. to make sure she passes. She also has to keep in mind that her mannerisms should be more masculine than what she might be used to. I'd suggest she does some practicing.
Good luck.
