A test on the Harry Benjamin site? Hmmmm. Never saw that one before.
The HB site is dedicated to information regarding transgendered people, identification, protocols, treatment (Standards of Care) and research.

he gets it named after him because he was the first to write about it. BTW few people follow him anymore, its last century's theory.

Gee, Amanda, I dont know about people not following the HBSOC. It seems to be to be the international standard we face.
Regardless, if the standards are read (and every one of us should know them intimately) the first statements in them point to the fact that they are guidelines not rules. It is up to the individual physician or group to use them on a case by case basis. I dont quite understand why people get so upset over them. If a doc uses them as rules, then question that. If s/he doesnt budge, then find a new doc cuz you aren't likely to go anywhere.
The biggest problem any of us face is convincing the medical community of our condition. To be a candidate for transition we have to be mentally healthy enough to identify as being mentally ill and classified with GID. THAT is my complaint with the system. Otherwise I am a firm believer in the protocols because it minimizes our chances of making a big mistake.
Just my thoughts.

From what I understand most ot the "professionals" have come to the realization that all canidiates are different< finally > ! This site could be very useful if used only as a foundation to help both the professional and the patient see where they really stand.
To maintain a happy healthy life no matter what direction they choose, but most of all not to make a mistake that can't ever be reversed...

You are on the button Marcie. The foundation is dedicated to research because there is so little of it in this area. The standards are constantly evolving because of this research and as I said, they are very quick at pointing that out right up front. One of their big goals is to produce a uniform international standard instead of the two that currently exist.
Why so many people both professionals and us miss all this is beyond me.
