Had the greatest time yesterday after work. Before leaving work, I fully underdressed in black garter belt and stockings, panties and bra with my forms. Went to a local off-price store (Burlington coat factory) in search of a dressy dress. Spent nearly 1 ½ hours going back and forth from the racks to the dressing room, and tried on nearly every style dress they had. The one I would have considered buying they only had up to a 14, and I really wanted to try a 16, as it would have draped better instead of showing all my imperfections.
I failed to note the manufacture or I would post a picture.

Susann -- Sounds like you had a great time trying those dresses on. Burlington is one of the stores I have yet to conquer.

thanks for the success story, Susann. I have tried Burlington only once, quite awhile ago. It was okay, but now I'm going to try again when I have a chance to go out in about a week and a half. I've had very good experiences at Dress Barn, Lane Bryant, and Macy's, but I haven't been up to Frederick's yet.
Good luck with your further shopping adventures.

I thought things improved lately in terms of good clothes selection for larger women size 14+. Seen it in the suits section where I now see nice suits in the larger sizes. So, is it still hard to find good stuff in the larger 14+ sizes?

Maybe you should lose weight. Try going for an 8 -- tremendous selection of clothes in that size, especially on ebay.

Well, went to another Burlington Coat Factory last evening. They didn't have a single dress I wanted to try on, not one! Never thought there would be such a difference between stores. I did try a skirt, blouse and shoes. Looked good, wish I had thought to bring my camera.

Yesterday while my wife and I were out shopping, she picked up a skirt and proceeded to lead me to the changing rooms...with a foyer in front of the changing stalls she had me go into one of the stalls and strip from the waist down and try on the skirt...then step out and give her a look...while we both liked it, it was left there, over priced, under quality, but a real fun experience...

I love Burlington...it right next to kohl's, my favorite!! And what do you mean off-price!! Good quality and a fair price!! Not over priced!! Lol. You should try Value City!! Even better prices!! And great shoes!

I tried on a skirt yesterday. It was just below the knee, black with black lace
overlayed. It was sooooo pretty and size 14 which was two sizes too big.
Broke my heard becacue it was also on sale for 9.95.
So I understand how you feel. The great thing is that there is just as much fun in trying again

:hugs:

I know, you wouldn't think so but you can really be surprised. The store that is/was in Henrietta (I think, South Towne Plaza anyway) always seemed nice. The one in Greece feels more like an exercise in dumpster diving. I've bought things there (Greece), both men's and women's, but I've never braved the dressing rooms. They're too shantytown for my liking.

But I've tried things on at Sears. I haven't been able to spend a lot of time trying things on, but it's great, isn't it?

The kindness and non-judging ways of some just makes me proud to be here...

Mom always said "If you ain't (mom was from the south where aint is a very popular word) "If you aint got somethin nice to say bout someone then shut up" Mom was just as right then as she would be now...love ya mom

Jesse :nono: that is one of the most un-lady like things to ever say to anyone - male or female....a true lady would NEVER be so insensitive.....

Susann....I know well how that goes...sucks too...I find something I like and they dont have my size....then I end up with that one dress/outfit in my mind of what I REALLY want and that puts me on a wild goose chase....I end up leaving the mall frustrated and having bought not one shred of clothing.....better luck next time...and hey, its about to be spring - killer dresses are about to hit the racks....be watching and get to them early.....xoxoxC/
