So, If we lived in the perfect world, would we be completely accepted by society, even with a serious beard shadow? Or is it good that we have to be careful so some not so femme guys could wander around wondering about the cosmos?
I was just wandering about this, and I wanted to know what you all thought!

Megan,
It's still all about tolerance and acceptance. No so fem guys have a right to question their world, just the same as us... bye.

The answer to that question is simple. Check out some of the women walking around looking like guys while they try to look like women. It'd be the same thing. What I wouldn't give to live in a world where I could always dress like a girl.

As I have said before it is going to take time as it did for the gays and lesbians, as more of us come out of the closet the less time it is going to take for us to be socially accepted for who we are not viewed as some sort of side show freak. IT WILL TAKE TIME MAYBE NOT IN MY TIME, BUT IT WILL COME ABOUT. ;) ;) MEAN WHILE ENJOY THAT SOME OF US ARE THE PIONEERS IN THIS FIGHT. :p

Maybe it will happen some day and some of you younger girls may be able to dress the way you want to. I really hope it does happen.

I do agree totally that cross dressing should be socially accepted, as should other things. Cross dressing it is just clothing and it doesn't harm anyone. A person should be able to do what their spirit calls them to do.
As for gg's being so lucky because we can wear what we want, please try to remember that it's only in the clothing department. There are still a lot of society no-no's that are placed upon us that if we were male it would be perfectly acceptible. So how fair is that?
Society has a such long way to go, I look forward to the day I can go shopping with some of you lovely ladies and not have to worry about the attitude of others because it has become a "normal" thing to do. To be able to giggle through the naughty bit department with a cd friend would be such a treat. (Way too much Monty Python in my youth)
Here's to our success in changing society's attitude for the better!

Thanks girls! I posted this poll (and voted yes) to see what everyone thought. I didn't know if you all thought that there should be a CD prooving ground, which would be sort of wierd.
Thanks for your input!

I've got to ask you something Megan - do you really think that you post a poll about should CDing be acceptable, on a CD forum, and you would get many NO answers?????
That would be like going to a pro-gun forum and asking should guns be outlawed. It just seems like preaching to the choir......

Even if society accepts us fully, I still wouldn't want to have beard shadow showing. I don't dress like this just because it's fun. I want to look as female as possible, what would be the point of being a hairy bloke in a dress? That might be fine for a lot of people but for me it kind of makes the whole thing pointless. I am desperately trying to express who I am inside, you can't do that in half measures. Even if we all woke up tomorrow and nobody else cared anymore about how I dressed, I still would.
Dressing isn't a fetish or just a bit of fun for me, it is expressive of how I feel in my core. It is important for me to try as hard as I can to be who I was meant to be.
Mona (with my serious head on) xx.

Megan,
I didn't vote. I think that there are many motivations for CDing. Mona expressed in a nutshell where I'm coming from. To me, CDing isn't about having fun, although I have no quarrel with anyone who has that as a motivation, they in fact have my full acceptance. Cding is about expressing to those around me who I am and how I wish to be treated. I am not a man in a dress, nor would I like to appear as one. I am a woman in fulltime drab! I do have hopes and aspirations of this changing eventually, but that is life at the moment. And life is nothing more than a series of moments, another one will come. Your available poll options don't really address those of us like myself, Megan. If my motivations were different, I would probably have voted yes, but since that's not where I'm at, I'm not certain even of that.
Does that make sense?
Love,
SilkenPrincess

Yes to social acceptance, but also yes to you have to keep up standards...
and if you bitched about lesbians or other gg appearences, you're well on your way into girlie society anyway
the more you go out to "pass" the more you have to conform to society...
When Cd's go out to the post box with wig in curlers, pink fluffy slippers, panda eyes and chipped nail polish, you know you've made it!

IT WILL TAKE TIME MAYBE NOT IN MY TIME, BUT IT WILL COME ABOUT. . . . MEANWHILE ENJOY THAT SOME OF US ARE THE PIONEERS IN THIS FIGHT. :p (emphasis mine)
Hear, hear! It's been a long time since I found myself anywhere near the leading edge of something :p
We are the 2nd most marginalized group in society. The 1st is the FtMs, at least at the present time - they have far fewer resources than we do.
Just being Rachel makes me work harder at appearance and other standards but I don't think that needs to be a rule. And it's way too late in life for me to be "perfect" - "my best" will have to do. :)

Megan, I can never do anything halfway. So if I dress as a man Monday thru Friday, can I be myself the rest of the week? A compromise to reality.
