I have been shaving this week. Wanted to ask what brand razor I should use. ANd about shaving cream/and lotion. I shave my mug w/an electric, and don't think that wise down below. Any advice?

I use the new Gillette Fusion with a shaving gel. If I'm saving for makeup I apply mosterizer on my face at least twice the day before and twice the day of. I them use heat to finish softing the beard. I get a relly smooth face.

On male days I at least apply mosterizer on my face once a day.

I have been shaving my body and legs for the last year and found a Gillette Quattro to be great. But you do need to exfoliate and use a moisturiser to prevent spots from ingrown hairs and keep your skin in good condition as well as producing a slight shine.

Is the fusion that much better than the Mach 3. I already spend 8 dollars for a set of blades, is the additional cost really worth it. In my case my beard seems to come out in many different directions instead of standing up in order. So I end up shaving in all different directions to get it to what feels good. The hair though fills up the slots in the blade and I can only use them about three times before they are dull. (yes of course I do try and clean them out with little luck) With 5 blades instead of just three that problem seems like it would only multiply and at a much higher cost per blade.

Any one care to share about their fusion?

I used to use Mach 3 on my face, but I've since switched to Fusion. I do notice a difference with the additional 2 blades. Also, before switching, I had gone to the Art of Shaving and had a professional shave from a female barber. It was only then that I really learned the correct way to shave (no one had ever told me before even my dad).

So, now I:

1. Only shave after a hot shower;
2. Use a pre-shave oil to lubricate the face;
3. Lather up using a shaving brush and shaving cream;
4. Shave with the grain (rinsing with hot water after every pass);
5. Re-lather up;
6. Shave against the grain (rinsing again);
7. Rinse with cold water;
8. Apply an after shave balm.

Hi girls, I haven't been doing this for long but I have found that what works for one may not work for another. However, if you shave your face with it use a fresh one on your legs, whatever works best! I'm trialling wax strips against shaving for the long term best results. I found creams while good at removing the stuff, they leave a lot of pimples. Even photos from porn sites show that. Bottom line our skins are so different we need to try everything. But for me shaving with a new razor is nice if I have the time.
