While studying at college aged 16-18, I used to get my hair cut by trainee hairdressers in the hairdressing dept. for about 1/6th of the price of a local barber or hairdresser.

I'd love to go for a pedicure and thinking of saving a few £s by going to the college salon.

Anyone done this?

I've had my makeup done at a beauty college twice. It has been great fun. The students enjoyed the challenge, I enjoyed having pretty girls doing my face, the other customers enjoyed the show. The girls did a good job, and the best part-ten bucks. I gave them a ten dollar tip, so a makeover for twenty dollars- -a good deal.

You can save quite a bit of money by doing so, but their hours of operation are often quite limited. I get my makeovers done by the makeup artist at a makeup counter. The money I spend goes for makeup purchases and the MA makes a commission on the makeup purchase.
