So how many times have you heard that? But how many times have you heard that while standing in thp ladies shoe dept, in drab with a pair of high heel womens boots on? :).

Well had a meeting in Moundsville WV this morning and was going to dress afterwards and shop enfemme all the way back home! Standard MO! But the stars didn't aligh so I elected to shop anyway. Hit the local Value City in Benwood. And the shoe sale is on!! Great prices..

So I'm trying on shoes and I find these great boots... So on they go and I'm standing there admiring them when the store speaker blasted that infamous message!! Now there are only a few of us here.. Me and a couple women!! So I'm thinking that the store management is playing "make the pervert run"!! Lol. So I stand there waiting for bubba to appear and nothing!! And I notice that at the end of the isle is one of those small windows... With the mirrors... 2 way I'm sure.. And I figure that someone is looking at me... So I walk to the end of the isle towards them, do. A really fem turn and walk back and sit down! No one shows up!! Guess I won the game!! Hehehe

Also foud a nice pair of 1 inch heels in burdandy and a pretty mauveish pink peasant skirt... All for $33 including my diet coke and a candy bar (lunch)!!

So who says you can't have fun shopping no matter how your dressed!! Lol. So anyone ever have security called while you were shopping?

Love Karren

I had a second game going on simulraniously... Appearently WV women aren't real fond of us girls and I had two boxs of ladies shoes under my arm.. Walking down the isles.. And I noticed that this one lady would stop what she was doing a move to a different isle when ever I came down the row.. Became kind of like a chess match, except I was the queen... She must have been the pawn!! Hehe.

Wearing the burgandy shoes on the trip home and stopped at the rest area, went in with them on!! They look sooo cute!! Took a pic which I'll post later.. Lol

Guess I have to go back to work.... Groannnn..

You go Girl! I admire you--I think.
Yes, a couple of months ago as I mentioned. I was wearing my wig and trying on several dresses and came out of fitting room for the bigger mirror. A lady tried to grab my fitting room--and my pants were in there! I had to use my voice and she read me. Later she complained to store manager. But they know me there. Nice about it, but manager asked me to not talk to other customers.

Most likely they were watching you but from near by if at all. (You can tell if it is a two way mirror by putting your face close and blocking the light, you will be able to see in! To work the room behind the “mirror’ has to be dark. They are not used much because cameras are so inexpensive and can be hidden. Exit signs, clocks, books on shelves, smoke detectors, heat detectors, clock radios, IR motion detectors, Fire sprinklers can be a camera to name a few.

If it was about you then the sales person was told by security “We can no do anything unless he leaves without paying for the shoes or is disruptive”. Could also been that they had a problem with the register or needed change etc, but not likely. You are not breaking any laws looking and cannot be thrown out. All they can do is intimated by watching. If they harass they will be sued and have been.

Many years ago they used to arrest people who put things in their pockets while still in the store. People sued and won saying they intended to buy it. So they can not arrest until you leave the store with merchandise you did not pay for.

Great job of staying cool. It is guilt that gives people away. Read of a army officer that walked into a top security nuclear plant without authorization just by being pushy. He said he could do it and was not believed so he did it to prove it.

Stand you ground, they can only make a fuss and that will get them in trouble.

And one other security trick: Stores that use a PA system( usually lower end retailers) have canned anouncements that go over the PA regularly with announcements like you heard, just to let the customer think they are being watched. If a store employee suspects something and wants security to check it out, they do not put it over the PA system, they get security personnel on a radio or private line.

I always hear those anouncements when I'm in a store shopping but this is the first time that I'm almost 99.9% sure it was aimed at me.. And when they made it, it became a personal challenge!! Lol.

It's time to play "Beat the Crossdresser".

Todays contestant must navaigate his way through the isles, collecting shoes, boots and a skirts... And reach the cahsieer without being discovered, arrested or ostrasized!!

Ohhh and stay under $35!!

The winner will get to keep his purchases... The looser will receive these nice parting gifts................ Here's Johnny to tell us about those fine gifts....

Security personal in stores are not in uniforms, unless they hire a security company. Stores are into appearences so a radio on the belt is tacky. They would call the security office or ping. The pings you hear are a morse code and tell people to call the operator for instructions. You are probally right the call to security was bogas.

In my security classes the instructor said there are two methods to store security, one to hid and the arrest the other is to be a deterrent. Arresting is tricky because all they have to do it to drop the item without you seeing it.

It is best if you suspect someone you just stand their and watch so they can see you.

Calling Security over the pager is being a deterrent. But will not hinder the pro shoplifter.

By the way it is employee theft that is where stores have their biggest losses.

I love your attitude Karren.
When I'm buying stuff and get unnerved, I just try to remember the basic rules of retail:
"The customer is ALWAYS right." (even when they are stupidly wrongwrongwrong :D )
"If you got the money, we got the goods."

Anyone who doesn't follow those 2 basic principles doesn't deserve your business.

Thanks.... but it's not that difficult.... like riding a bike and not falling off.... Then riding more and farther.....

I started out the old "sneak in and grab something fem while no one was looking" ploy.... and then decided that I really wasn't any fun that way and I really wasn't getting what I really wanted. So started shopping with more vigor!!! Bolder each time, building on what I had done the last trip. Guess the lack of any negative feed back worked in my favor since no one around here seemed to care that I was in the ladies department, trying on things, shoes ... boots.... I did get a few stares and a manager walk-by to see what I was up to, not really unexpected..

So now, every shopping trip is an adventure....that I look forward to and relish!!! Who cares what anyone thinks.....if it's for sale then I have the right to purchase it!!! Sometimes I think I'm more adicted to shopping for womens clothing than wearing them!!! hehehe

So get out there and do your civic duty, prop up the economy, and get what you want!!!

This sort of situation simply would not happen in the UK. If the shop stafff are not pleased that you are there you will be treated with the kind of cold politeness that would freeze lesser mortals than us. Mostly they just take your money and talk about you when you've gone - fine by me.

Actually if it were me. And I noticed a pattern like that ide be emailing head office and noting that as CDs we are a valualble force in the marketplace and to be treated like that would force us to shop in a friendlier environment. Im one who beleives that in fact some stores train staff on being helpful and polite with us as they do see that we are a vialble market.

Several years ago I was driving back from a business trip in Texas. I was mostly in male mode. A little makeup, earrings and heels, but otherwise male. I stopped in a mid-size town at a Payless and proceeded to shop and try on. I left without buying anything. When I got in my car I could see inside the store. A customer and both store employees rushed over to the rack where I'd been shopping and appeared to be rather franticly looking for something. I left, but turned around at the next exit and went back to the store. I told the manager what I'd seen and told her I wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem. She said, "Well, there was an empty box on that shelf, and we noticed you were wearing heels when you left." I told her these were the shoes I was wearing when I came in (they were Payless, also). She looked at them closely and said those were not the style that was missing. They were unappologetic, but I was glad I went back. It wouldn't have been cool if they'd called the police and I'd been pulled over down the road.

Be carefull on this one, laws varry from place to place, mostly with wording like the law below:

§ 14‑72.1. Concealment of merchandise in mercantile establishments.

(a) Whoever, without authority, willfully conceals the goods or merchandise of any store, not theretofore purchased by such person, while still upon the premises of such store, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished as provided in subsection (e). Such goods or merchandise found concealed upon or about the person and which have not theretofore been purchased by such person shall be prima facie evidence of a willful concealment.

That's a good one!! Wonder if merchants think that because we like to wear womens clothing that we also steal them?? Guess a lot of people lump anyone that's not "normal" to them as capable of doing anything!! Lol

Probable just the opposite, most crossdressers wouldn't think of stealing for fear of being caught with womens clothing and have their name published in the local paper!!

I hope your unisex bathroom is heated. I know it takes me about 45 min to an hour to apply makeup and get dressed. I don't think I could do that in a public restroom there would be a long line outside the door. Also do you watch Ugly Betty on Thursday? There new character appears to be the brother who was thought dead and is now a transsexual. I wonder who will play that part? Sort of like Trans America, a woman playing a man trying to become a woman.

The family restrooms on I-70 and 79 in PA are very roomy and comphy... If I predress with my lingerie under my male atire, 15 to 20 minutes tops...out the door.... I have changed back to male in an unheated handicap porta john... Near freezing... Less than 5 minutes!! Funny how fast you can be when your turning blue!! Hehe

Your adventures seem to get the most replies as you accomplish what others only dream of.
The closest embarassment that I have had was when my wife and I bought some new sued boots for me in Payless. We got to the counter and the cashier tried to upsell on the protectant. My wife said no thanks he'll only be wearing them inside. My jaw dropped but no one else flinched, and yes we were in a long line up. The cashier just glanced at me looked down and smiled to herself.
Talk to you soon.

Yes I know but I rairly put things in my pocket I am looking from the security pov. It is very hard to prove intent. The key is "willfully" like intent is hard to prove. In California it has been in court and the defendant won. This section was no doubt put it after these cases but can be challenged in court. From the pov of security it is very tricky. As I said all the person has to do is to drop the stuff without security noticing and they have a false arrest case.

As a security person you arrest a person that put something in their pocket and is still in the store you will loose in court, (doubt the police will even follow throught) , unless the guy is a pro and you got lucky!

A security secret: Security is about intimidation. The pro shoplifters and burglars are rarely caught and are not deterred by security or alarm systems. I have seen pro hits on houses and stores with alarms. They know just what to get and how much time they have.

Your alarm system in your home is 80% peace of mind. It will stop the kid or a homeless person from moving in but not the determined crook. Most burglaries in the US are drug addicts and they do not care.

I was out shopping in the mall and noted the Sears sale on some lovely pumps. I had on jeans, a blouse, with conservative makeup and some low heels on. This elderly salesman tentatively showed me a few shoes. He asked, "What size?" I replied, "Size 12 wide." He then took off running to the back of the store and all the while waving his hands above his head and shouting, "It's not my day." An elderly saleswoman final waited on me and I got my shoes.

Hello Karen, I give up! I know I did see a picture of you on one of your links that showed you pumping gas in femme in jeans. I went looking for it and spent some time following the links and I couldn't find again. It would have been fun to paste in after one of your "I wouldn't be caught dead in jeans!" replys. It can be out secret. I did look at enough of your pictures to notice how much you have matured as a woman over the last couple of years.

Where I was wearing male jeans while dressed because I was too lazy to get dressed up...(3 day enfemme business trip) Might have been 2005 or early 2006? Photo of me standing in front of the grocery store in Morgantown WV.... But they were male jeans!!!! Hehehe

Hey Karren, love reading your posts.
The subject caught my attention, but when I seen you posted it, I had to read it.
And it was worthwhile, as always!

Had something similiar on the weekend. The GF and I were in a bargain shop, and wandered into the clothing. Well for some reason over the intercom they mentioned something about security camera to clothing. Well, I looked around, and there was us, and another lady two rows over. Not sure what it was about, but I did end up with a kind of short plaid skirt for $6 and a skirt suit set for $15, (upon getting home I see the jacket was ripped on top of the should. Oh well). So I guess we still did alright.

So i quickley wandered back there to see if another crossdressers was being hauled away by "Bubba"... lol no such luck!! Couple women wandering around....

It's the power of the shoes ladies. Shoe shopping can really transform a girl

I had a similar incident in a 24 hour Walmart. It was about midnight or after, and I was having a blast in the womens dept (in near drab), shopping and comparing prices and outfits, cuz you can shop with more ease when there's less people in the store. I was putting things over and under one arm as I browsed, with intention of trying some things on in the fitting room. I got close to the fitting rooms when I noticed a lady (women's dept worker) watching me from a high booth. She had this ugly stare too. I decided to look around a little more before trying on some things. As I went into the next isle, there was that infamous PA announcement, coming right from that lady! In less than a minute, two security guards started watching me from the end of the isle I was in, in one of those folded arm stances. I was pissed, what had I done? Nothing. I threw everything down, walked past those security guards and said "tell that lady's boss they lost my business - for good", and went home! If I had to be watched like that, I didn't need to spend money!

not to make lite of your situation but those announcments are made at a reguler interval at thr old value city as there is a high theft rate from the shoe department. It is nothing personal towards anyone just a deterent to theifs just like at old Wally world they say scan and record certain departments just a deterent.

Karen, you rock
I haven't gotten the security call as of yet but I'm certain that I would handle it much the way you did. My only question is that your picture posted of the new shoes at the rest stop showes you in jeans, where's the skirt Karen? I also like rest areas to change back to guy mode, you get all kinds of people there and it seems to be mostly non confrontational.
