Earlier today I was out driving, in drab since I had been working, and decided to stop in a local Clearwater Creek store. For those of you who don't know this chain, it is a high quality ladies store. Over the past years, I have bought many things there, mostly for my wife who was usually with me. Since I usually paid, my name is in their computer records along with my wife's.

I found 2 really nice sweaters and a white long sleeved blouse, all on sale. When I went to the checkout, the lady asked my name. After it came up on the computer, she said, "you are buying some more things for Jean?" (My dear departed wife!). I just looked at her and told her, "No, my wife passed away 1 1/2 years ago. These are for myself.":heehee: She looked at me, said "Oh," and started to really look at what I had picked out. She picked up a Rosy Pink Turtleneck sweater, held it up and took several looks at me and finally said, "you will look great in this, especially if you wear it with a black skirt or black pants." If there had been other customers around I probably would have been embarrassed, but since there wasn't I just told her thank you and that I really liked the look of it. BTW, I got those 3 items at 70% off the retail price. Great Deal!!

Stephanie, That just proves the point that when shopping, one should be honest and upfront with the SA's. When you told her, she looked at your color hue, checked what you bought, and gave you her professional opinion. I'm sure that if it had not been your color, she would have recommended something to suit you better. Also, note that she gave you recommendations as to what you should wear with the sweater. This is what shopping is all about. A good SA will ensure that your purchase fits correctly, is a complimenting color for you and is the proper style for you. If you ask about matching items and accessories, they will gladly assist you on the right selections.

Jodi,

You are so right. When I got home after my shopping, I decided to try the things on. Imagine my surprise when I found that the SA had put the 2 sweaters in the shopping bag, but had not charged me for them. I put on the Rosy knit sweater with black pants and went back to the store. My SA had already left for the day, but I told another SA that I had not been charged for 2 items. (I had the sales slip with me!). She thanked me for being honest enough to come back, and then told me that the sweater really looked nice on me. She had been there when I bought the items earlier. Of course, she tried to sell me some more things fo fill out my wardobe! I told her I already had 3 closets full of feminine clothing, besides all the drawers of other things! she just laughed and told me that I was a well dressed "girl."

That is sooo cool!!

I wouldn't worry about not paying for the 2 sweaters, as I am sure you will buy more from that store again.

SAs that are pleasant will always get repeat custom.

Sorry for the third post in this thread, but I had to let y'all (I live in the deep South so have to talk that way!) know that I did pay for the 2 sweaters when I went back to the store. Got a whole lot of thank-you's.
