I got my hormones yesterday, and I'm already a 44DD! Just kidding. I'm on an Estrogen patch and Spiro, should be interesting. It took me awhile to find an endocrinologist who would do it, like I was asking for heroin or something. Today I'm going to file my name change papers, that's a 2 month process. I've decided to go with Karen Starlene, plus I'll be changing my last name too. Time for a new start, life is good.

Lovely name :D
Enjoy the hormones
I've found atleast in Australia no one wants to be the first person to perscribe HRT but once someone has , other new doctors have no issues in writing scripts.

Way to go Karen! I just got my new 90 day supply of Spironolactone and Premarin and just as I suspected the first pharmacy messed up my Rx. The letter from my doctor stated that he was putting me on 2.5mg of Premarin a day but my initial Rx was only 1.25mg. Anyway that is correct now but even with the lower dose I am already getting nice breast development after being on HRT for 2 1/2 months. Imagine the results with the proper dosage. And this month I will apply for the legal name change, in California I only have to wait 28 days until my court date to finalize.

Hi Karen,
Congratulations on one huge step forward!
I have been taking spiro for about 15 mos. and Estrace for about 10 mos. For me, I have noticed no ill effects. In the first month I found myself quite emotional and had several crying fits. I think starting into this was a huge emotional release. Not so much the drugs. For some time now I find that I am so much more relaxed and people tell me I seem to be so much happier and calmer than in the past. The physical changes are also very welcome.
Hope you see lots of positive changes too!
lots of love,
Victoria

Congrats :)
I think you will find in a month to two months that you will be a completely different person.
The little things that bo t hered you before probably won't get you upset half as much.
And the big things, they're still big but this time you cry instead ....but it's all good.
I just passed the point of being able to even hide mine and I wear a jean jacket at work because of the AC anyway but come summer time it's going to be quite noticable.
You will enjoy it!! :)

Thought I'd give you an update...
I've had 2 laser treatments and I hardly have to shave anymore, 3 more will do it. He also removed some splotchy spider veins on my chin, so I can go out with a lot less make-up.
I'm still on a starter dose of mones and doing well. I had my first hot flash, that was interesting. I see my doc in a couple of weeks and I'll get it bumped up then, I can say that this hasn't been cheap.
I had a delay in filing my name change papers, I hope to take care of that today. That's something that's very important to me, the sooner I get it done the better.
I'm still shooting for October for SRS, I hope to pay my deposit next month. I've decided against FFS, I guess I'm kinda used to the way I look now. I've never been one for big boobs, so I'll be happy with what the mones do for me...life is good.

Hi Karen
After having met you in person, last Saturday, I know that if anyone can do this, you are the girl to do it. You have such a wonderful convincing spirit and strength in your person which is unusual and special. I was very impressed by your belief and trust in your process and I know that you will be just fine. It helps, off course, that you have a wonderful and supportive partner. The time my wife and I spent with you was inspiring and wonderful. Good luck with everything my dear girl friend.

Gads, your first hot flash? I'm so jealous -- I was getting them almost daily. If they continue, ask your endo to increase your Premarin dosage -- that should take care of it.
I'm happy that everything is going so well for you, Karen. :hugs:

Gee, what's a HOT FLASH? How will I know I'm having one? I know women get them, but I haven't the foggiest idea what to expect. Does your body litterally get hot and then the heat subsides?
I'm one day 8 of hormones and haven't experienced anything like that except the continued feeling of peace and the ability not to blow a gasket at the slightest sign of frustration.
Gee, Karen, it sounds like you're going for SRS so quickly. I thought you would have to wait 1 to 2 years after real life experience before they would allow you to have it performed. Am I wrong?

What's a hot flash? Believe me, when you get one you'll know it. As far as my RLE, I'm almost up on a year for that now, so that base is covered.
I filed my name change papers today, the girls at the courthouse were wonderful. I have a court date set for June 7th, then it will all start to feel real for me...I'm so excited!

Karen,
Best of luck to you - you are about 3 years ahead of my projected schedule assuming that my luck at work holds out and things go as planned. Regards the hot flashes - one GG girlfriend of mine claims they are the result of your inner child playing with matches. Let us know how things go for you.
