That's a good story about Renee. It seems to me that there are a lot of assumptions though and little fact.

This is strange I was reading another article on her when I had to leave for dinner. I was totally fascinated by her in the seventies. She was the first public TS that was current in my time. I think anyone who is brave enough to take such steps to find themselves are my heroes.

I agree with you Amy as I found that when I read the article. Would love to read the book though.

The regret over events leading up to surgery.
She said it plainly enough “—I told People what I was feeling, which I still feel: Better to be an intact man functioning with 100 percent capacity for everything than to be a transsexual woman who is an imperfect woman.”
a point that should not be lost by anyone who choses the surgical solution.
A point from someone who has been there not some wanna be.

The title of the article is, "The Lady Regrets." The quote above seems to validate the title. But towards the end of the interview, she is asked if she has any regrets...and she replies, "the answer is no." So why the title?
Which is it? Is she not satisfied with the change but doesn't regret it?
Perhaps she wishes that the surgeries were as advanced 30 years ago as they are now. Or maybe she wishes like many GG's that she was never able to find Mr. Right. These are my thoughts, but I'm a little confused reading the article as to what her thoughts really are.
Maybe that's her way of making you buy the book.

Typically, headlines are not written by the author of the article, but by another editor. I suspect that the reference to "regret" is not having had a "great love affair with a man."

I'll never forget finding Rene's initial biography titled "Second Serve." I came across it in the library during my first year of high school about twenty years ago. Upon discovering what the book was about I became breathless with excitement. With each passing page that excitement became hopefull expectation. I was afraid to check the book out, so I hid it behind books that probably hadn't been openned since Johan Gutenburg invented the printing press. I snuck back to my secret spot every day to read a couple of chapters while I contempleted my own situation. Her book put me somewhat at ease knowing that I was not the only one.
