Last Saturday was another landmark for the infamous Joy Carter. My friends Tamera and Teresa Amina accompanied me to Macy's' in Ann Arbor, MI for my first professional makeup application. There were at least eight different makeup companies there and though the smallest was MAC I felt they had just as much to offer. I had hoped a GG would be doing the art work but I was given a GM, David. He was friendly enough and never pushed me beyond what I wanted, which was a decent foundation. The MAC at first didn't cover my beard completely, as Teresa pointed out. David assured me that another coat would do the job. However, as he progressed I weakened and asked him to do my eyes. The color was good I thought, but my friend Teresa suggested David "open up" my eyes a little more. The eyes were retouched and I could see an improvement. I went further and asked him to suggest lip color. He asked what I liked and I told him I have a weakness for mauve. With a lip pencil and lip cream he made my lips look smaller.
The total transformation was complete. I told the GG makeup artist nearby that David made me look like a girl; she just gave one of those "harrumph" type noises and walked away. No sense of humor, I guess. I bought all the cosmetics David used and while I was talking to him he suggested another brand of concealer, "Clarins Base Concealer". I haven't used it yet. But he put a small amount on the back of my hand, and it clearly covered many of my imperfections while not looking heavy. At $27 a half ounce jar you must use it sparingly. My total expenditure at Macy's was approximately $190.
So while we talked David showed us some pictures of him dressed! Gee, that was a shock. He/she was lovely. And since Saturday Teresa got a note on Yahoo 360 from one of her contacts that lives in Ann Arbor that knows David! He had mentioned that three girls were in Macy's that day.
It's getting better by the minute. I can't say what is around the corner but I'm sure it will be good. Thanks again to my friends Teresa and Tamera. And to Teresa again for which this thread would have not been possible.
BTW do I pass as a Himalayan gurl Yettie or what+?
Joy, That is a nice look on you. Now to go home and practice, practice, practice.

Joy you like like a lovely himalayan girl. As far as the yetti thing... Well no you don't. You'd have to be a lot larger to get into that club.

when you said steve showed pics of him dressed. It reminded me of a shirt I once saw that said, "we are everywhere" It was refering to gays, but I'm guessing it could apply to cd's as well.

Hi Joy,
You look great! As Jodi mentioned practice, practice. I love MAC products and their SA's. I go to the MAC counter at Macy's at Twelve Oaks. It's alittle closer than Ann Arbor. Remember to save your empty containers, six will get you a free lipstick.

Aw gee thanks for the compliments girls/gurls. I feel like I have hit the big time. From the little boy who always wished his mom would buy him dresses to actually being a part time gurl. I'm a sick puppy ! But I like it.:D

Thank for posting this story, - now I know how expensive makeup counters are! I could never spend $190 on makeup, I'm just a cheap Walgreens makeup on sale shopper - and I buy them with coupons only.
You don't look like a Yettie - and what's a Yettie anyway?
Nice to see you expose yourself when you've never posted a pic of yourself before.

Joy, you look great!
You went in as a thorn and came out like a rose! Beautiful!
p.s. I meant the "thorn" thing figuratively speaking!

Jessie that would be the Asian version of a "Big Foot". Remember the TV show "Harry and the Hendersons ?" Large harry ape like creature that inhabbits the North woods and is very elusive. It's a myth, but many have claimed to have seen it in locations around the world.

Awesome post Joy!
This sounds so similar to my MAC experience. I also had a guy help me and he was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful about everything! Here's my story.:http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46134
IMHO MAC is the bomb! Folks, listen up.... if you want a girly makeover without any prejudice, go to MAC. Here's funny thing Joy, after we were done my makeup artist Glen revealed to us that he used to live as a woman! Amazing!
Anyway, great post. P.S. I love your black cardigan

I can understand all about shaving... I sometimes have to shave 3x a day to keep my face feeling and looking like coarse sandpaper.
