I'm struggling to find a wig. In fact I have no idea where to start really.

So I'm wondering where everyone else buys their wigs from as I've looked on ebay and I'm having trouble committing to buying one as I'd like to try before I buy.

Also are there any particular styles that people find work as I'm a bit sceptical about getting some styles as I wonder if they'll make a good transformation.

Please help me

Susan

I'm no expert . I bought mine off Ebay and it works fine for me but it is synthetic and quite hot to wear. Also it is long and already tangled. My only advice so far is to go for one that is not too long .

I have just bought my first wig. :)
I looked in the yellow pages under hairpiece & wig retailers. I phoned a local place and aranged an apointment. The lady at the shop was very helpfull, we went into the back room out of the way of onlookers.
I tryed on a few wigs and she helped me pick the right lenght and style for me. :)
It is much better to get professional advice, wigs are not cheep and a wrong wig will get your clocked a mile away.

Try this site http://www.doreenfashions.com/store/wigs.html

Your best bet however is to find a place to actually visit so you can try them on then you know if you will like it

Thanks everyone for your tips. I think a trip to Transformation is called for, I've heard of it a few times but I've never been there. Next time I'm in London I'll have to go as I've got a lot more confident about femme shopping nowadays.

Susan I've heard some things about Transformations as in it was rather a mistake for some who visited. That's just and opinion Ive heard. For a great big site full of wigs try:

International Wig (http://www.internationalwig.com/)

susan, id certainly avoid transformation for wigs..they are expensive. you can get exactly the same wig far cheaper elsewhere! However transformation are ok for some things....makeover etc, and their staff are excellent!!

try http://www.suziwigs.co.uk/ for your wig, huge range at good prices and very discreet!!

good luck and let us all see what you buy

Look in the tips section of the web site http://www.beautytrends.com under HELP
It will talk about face shape etc. Try to get a wig with "natural" highlights. Normal hair is streaked by the sun.

I've seen a lot of good stuff on here. It is a tricky one though as I'm not sure how some wigs would look on me and so I think I'll have to visit one of these places in person and find the style that suits me.

Thanks everyone for all your help so far and keep it coming.

Susan,
You must certainly try your wig on at a professional, and preferably local and close to you.
You can build up a relationship with your supplier, and remamber they also would like more business, so recomending them to other CDs is a great help for them.
Here in South Africa, I buy from The Wig Box, any Yvonne is so CD friendly, we chat about all CD things, clothes make up etc,and not just wigs.

Good luck with your search.
