Well, like so many of the ladies here, the stories of postive experiences while shopping enfemme have finally motiviated me to take the plunge. I worked up the nerve to try a shopping trip today while dressed completely enfemem.

I am currently visiting my home town/province on a business trip and found myself with a few hours to myself late this afternoon. This is the first time that I have travelled with my wig and silcone falsies, but I said to myself "why not". I've been away from this area for so long and nobody here really knows me anymore, plus the city is big enough that I'm probably not going to run into anyone that I know. So around 3pm I began getting ready and by 3:45 I was ready to go: heeled boots, jeans, sweater, ladies leather jacket, falsies, wig, makeup and gold hooped earrings. Snapped a couple of pics in the hotel room, put some lipstick, powder and tissues in my purse and took a deep breath. I walked out of my hotel room and rode the elevators down to the lobby. As as I exited the lift, there were 3 men waiting to get on. I just kinda looked down and walked by them, and they didn't seem to notice, they just kept going on with their conversation. whew. Walked by the hotel staff at the front desk and then out to my car.

So far so good. I decided to go to a Pennington's outlet (ladies plus sizes) about 20 minutes away. So I drove there in slightly snowy conditions, but felt very comfortable behind the wheel, surprisingly comfortable especially since I'd never driven with my falsies in with the seatbelt across them.
I arrived at the store and walked in with my purse on my shoulder, big time excited. I walk in and one of the three sales ladies smiles at me but goes on helping the customer she is with. I start looking at clothes racks, and I realize that they are having a huge end of season sale. I immediately forget about checking out the store to see who is in here with me and start flying through the racks looking for some great deals. After about 15 minutes of looking, the sales girl comes up and asks me if I'd like to have the things I've picked up so far put into a dressing room for me. I say yes (of course) and continue to pick through a few more racks. After another 10 minutes I go to the girl to find out which room I'm in. She brings me to back and tells me to let her know if I need anything. (I just want to say just how fantastic and at the same time how natural and comfortable the experience felt for me at this point.)

So I start trying on things, some too big, some to small, some just right. I had to fight with a couple of tops that kept trying to pull my wig off when I was changing into and out of them. I was a little disappointed that all of the jeans I brought in were too big, but the sales girl asked if I need anything in a different size and I handed her the jeans and asked for a size smaller. "Sure thing" she said and came back with the perfect fit. I was in the dressing room with the jeans on and nice red top, when she asked if she could get me anything else. When I opened the door and asked her if they had a plaid skirt in a different size, she said "Wow, those jeans look great. I wish I had your thighs". Well that absolutely made my whole day. Turns out they didn't have the skirt in my size, but after 30 mins of trying on clothes I did end up buying the jeans and two new tops. The girl was great the whole time and made me feel like I had every right to be shopping in the store and in the dressing room.

I have her sales associate number and I will definitely be sending a positive email to Pennington's corporate office.

Since that experience went so well, I decided to stop into a lingerie store on my way back to the hotel. They didn't have very much plus size stuff and it was busier than I had expected (forgot it was the day before Valentine's day). So I just looked around a little bit and left. Everybody was friendly, staff and customers alike.

So two positive experiences in one day (one REALLY positive). I had only planned to dress in my hotel room but I am so glad that I went ahead and decided to go out enfemme. It was a big hurdle but I am so proud of myself right now. I just called my wife back home to tell her what happened. At first she was surprised that I went and did that. I think she thought I had been planning to do this all along and didn't tell her, but I explained it was kinda of spur of the moment since I got off early today and had everything with me. She eventually understood why it was a big deal for me and now everything is good. She's eager to see what I bought.

I'll be sure to post the pics I took before I left the hotel room and I'll even post pics of my new outfits too. But it will have to wait until this weekend when I get back home.

Thanks to all of you who have inspired me to take this step. It was unbelievable and all of you are so special to me for getting me to this point.

Hugs
Jenni

Congratulations! I find that once you've shopped for clothes en femme, it's hard to do it any other way. I love trying on things until I find just the right color and fit!

Is this your first outing or just your first shopping trip?

I admire your courage. It took me forever before I went out without any kind of friend or escort. Now I'm getting much more comfortable with myself.

Good luck, and happy shopping!

That's such a great experience. I love it when they say how great something looks on you, like the jeans. When I tried on jeans at Torrid's in Massachusetts, the SA wanted to see them on me! That was real special.

Congratulations!!!

Hi Sally, this was my first outing alone and with my wig. My wife and I went out for a drive in November and stopped by a drug store and a pizza place but I had grown my hair out and just styled it a bit. I have to say that I felt way more feminine today than I did back in Nov.
I can see why shopping enfemme and trying on clothes in the store is the better way to shop. You get a way better idea of what fits and looks right on you that way.
I'm just glad my wife is ok with it. Hopefully, we can move on to shopping together this way sometime soon.

The only place I could give Karen a run is on the ice at a hockey rink. She is the queen of being enfemme in public. Thanks for the inspiration Karen.

And thanks again to all the girls who have shared their stories and to all the girls who are thinking about going out enfemme, I can only say it was a positive experience for me and I can't wait to do it again.
