Hi,
I had a full Professor who was my instructor for a post graduate mathematics course that was a REAL TRANSEXUAL, ie...post-op. She was very open about it (quite attractive) and married to a man. This was at the Univ. of Michigan (immensely liberal school) about 30+ years ago. She was also the Asst Chair of the Dept and a brilliant instructor.
Take Care,
Andi ...

I could see teaching a corporate law class on sexual discrimination or harassment while dressed in a black business suit, white blouse, pearls, and heels. With the right topic and the right timing, it would work in a college setting.

Miqqi Alicia's an interesting character. Her homepage (http://www.yorku.ca/gilbert/tg/index.htm) is well worth a look.
Lynn Conway (http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/people/conway/conway.html) is a TS pioneer who is Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Emerita at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Sure wish we had more "role models" like that! It's going to take a lot more person's like Miqqi, pushing back the boundaries.
Maybe someday we will find acceptance, not just on a liberal campus, Maybe at The Truckstop too!
Peace and Love, Joanie

Some great role models. I have found acceptance from the truckers all the time when out in the day time, from the cab of the truck all you see are legs, and in my short skirts they must love mine for they have given me the horns often.

"I thought it was incumbent on me to come forward. And, I felt by doing so I would help people who weren't as fortunate as I am and not as protected as I am. It's all part of the `desensitization.' Once someone becomes familiar with something, it's just not that big a deal anymore."
Top of the class

Jennifer Finney Boylan is/was a full fledged TS (now a woman) professor at Colby, a liberal arts college in Maine. Incidentally, her book, "She's Not There" is a great read.

She (he) and wife Joanne are really a good people and is a member or our mid-Michigan Tri-ess support group. Also great cooks--they brought a wonderful ham to the most recent meeting. His (her) contract expires in May. And will not be renewed--although the case is in court and may go to mediation.

Is this guy not a centerfold for Cross-dressers everywhere? What an amazing individual.Make sure you go to Miqqi's website (http://www.yorku.ca/gilbert/tg/index.htm) as Robin has already mentioned.

Well I have to brag some, Miqqi is a friend of ours, not like best friend, but more than far off acquanitance. Very sweet lady with a very supportive spouse and kids. She is an inspirtation for those who are fearful of being *outed*.
I actually had heard about the politician from Texas before though. I had a friend who met the politician and his wife when they used to go to Fantasia Fair and I am really disapointed to hear he kinda got outed. My guess is he came out to someone who could not be trusted.
Would have had my vote when I lived there that is for sure!
What a shame that that happened.
