My sheltie likes to be out on the back porch. It's sort of in an ell in a corner of the house so it is sheltered from the north wind. And it is up high - there is a long flight of steps to the back yard with a landing half way down. I have a gate at the landing so the dog won't wander off. Last night at about 11PM I went to get her after a dressup evening. At first I didn't see her, but then I saw her down on the landing. Problem: she is afraid to come back up the steps (open risers) and at 38 pounds I did not feel like carrying her. I had to go down to the landing in skirt, wig, and heels and open the gate to let her go all the way down to the back yard. Then around to the front door to get her back in the house. Good thing it wasn't raining and wasn't cold! Actually it was fun, too!! Pic attached is not from last night.
