I know that a lot of you are stronger than me and don't drink but I was wondering what your drink of choice is if you do drink? I had quit for the longest time and then bad situations started in my recent life and I have started drinking again. I know the obvious answer at least by Capt is going to be rum. lol I have just now discovered Southern Comfort. It's so sweet and yummy. I mix it with my Diet Coke. It rocks!! So what is your drink of choice? Name your poisen. lol

BEER!

It tastes good, it’s cheaper than Pepsi (when bought in pubs), and it’s you’re typical ‘manly’ drink.

Yup, rum it is - actually, Bacardi & Coke with a twist of lime (yum!). But I also drink beer a lot of the time - specifically, Amstel (don't like most domestic beers).

Vodka!
Shots of any potato vodka. Skyy melon in coke. Ketal One in a mudslide. Three olives in anything or alone. Screwdrivers. Yes I like my vodka.
My other personal favorite is grog, which you guys really outta try. Katie, a housemate and fellow pirate-lover, invented it. 1/2 cup cola, 1/2 grape gatorade, and a shot of rum. It turns GREEN! And it's surprisingly awesome.

Well, I've never heard of grog made that way (don't think Capt. Jack had grape gatorade), but it sounds like something I have to try. :D

Oh, dude . . . that's just tragic. First no Oreos, and now no Gatorade. Gonna have to smuggle some contraband over there.

My drink of choice is a Rum and Coke. But when I'm in the party mood try this, I call it a H-Bomb.
H-Bomb;
1 shot of 151 rum
1 shot of Barcardi Rum
1 shot of Meyers Rum
1 shot of Apricot Brandy
1 Shot of Triple Sec
Mixed with Orange Juice & Pineapple Juice
Crushed Ice if available
and topped with Grenadine

It goes down smooth like a punch, but 2-3 will kick your ASS.

You don't have Oreos in England!?

Oh. I was going to submit an abstract for a conference in York, but now I guess I won't.

Unless, that is, they'll let me bring Oreos on the plane!

we do have Oreo's but not regularly.....only in promotional pack every now and again much like hersey too! only certain stores sell both every now and then.....it could be 6 months before we see any and even then it will only be limited stock and flavours

Oh, that's a shame about the Oreos.

Hershey's, well... There's a whole lot of much better chocolate available.

So, I don't even know where York is in relation to y'all. All I know is that the town I live in now was named after it. So if I do get accepted for the conference, would anyone from the board be able to come see me? And would y'all have any requests, besides Oreos? (I don't think they'd let me bring Dew, since it's a liquid.)

Well, piffle! The conference isn't until July. Maybe we can figure something out. If, that is, I get accepted. My school will pay either 75% of the cost or else $400, whichever is lower if I'm presenting at a conference.

Here's the email that was forwarded to me:

Subject: cfps: Gender 2007: East meets West Conference
To: WMST-L@listserv.umd.edu

Are you interested in giving a paper in our forthcoming trans- and
interdisciplinary conference in York in July this year?

Gender 2007: East meets West: UK Postgraduate and Academic Conference in
Women's/Gender Studies. 3-5 July 2007, University of York, UK

Following on from the very successful 'Thinking Gender' conference at the
University of Leeds in 2006, the Centre for Women's Studies (CWS) at the
University of York now invites proposals for a three-day trans- and
interdisciplinary conference 3-5 July 2007.

The conference is aimed at anyone whose work relates to Women's/Gender
Studies and intends to explore cutting-edge methodologies, theoretical
approaches, and practical applications as well as issues of feminist and
queer theory. We are especially interested in work that explores the
multi-dimensionality of women's/gender studies, and that engages with the
relationship between east and west in its multiple forms.

Keynote speakers will include Haleh Afshar (University of York), Mary
Maynard (University of York), David Bell (University of Leeds), Stevi
Jackson (University of York) and Pei-Chia Lan (National Taiwan University).

There will also be two panel discussions:

1) Working Across Cultures: Confirmed speakers include Maria Jaschok (Oxford
University), Delia Davin (University of Leeds) and Jieyu Liu (University of
Glasgow).

2) Intimacy and Modernity: Confirmed speakers include Lynn Jamieson
(University of Edinburgh) and Sik-ying Ho (University of Hong Kong).

We invite papers or panels on any area relating to women's/gender studies
using a range of approaches and methodologies. Themes/areas might include
sexuality, queer theory, bodies, intimacy, family, activism and social
movements, gendered identities, race, ethnicity, religion, diaspora and
migration, development issues, globalization, issues in fieldwork and
research methodologies, cross-cultural and sub-cultural research, space,
culture, media, technology, violence, conflict, representation/s,
literature, cinema, music, history, education, work, medicine, care, ethics.

Please send abstracts of 100-150 words to the Centre for Women's Studies by
16 April 2007 ( gender2007@york.ac.uk), putting in the subject-line of your
email: 'Conference submission'. The paper presentations should not exceed 20
minutes. Deadline for registration to the conference is 18 May 2007. For
further details of the conference and booking forms, please see the
conference website http://www.york.ac.uk/conferences/gender2007.

Heck, Felix, your work might send you. Do you have requirements for professional development and all that at your school? You could make a case for how important the affects of the current interdisciplinary dialogue regarding gender on paedagogy is to your providing the best possible education to your students.

Wow. That's one of the most pompous sentences I've ever typed, I think! But the code will confuse them and make them pay for you to go. And then we could share a hotel room, but be warned -- I snore!

My drink of choice is anything that doesn't taste too much like alcohol, and will get me drunk quickly. I've got a really sensitive stomach so I like to drink as little as possible, but get as drunk as possible meanwhile.

White Russians are fabulous-- when I make them at home I use soymilk, which is quite yummy. and since I'm lactose intolerant, it's only one shot at my stomach instead of two.

Last night I had orange juice and everclear, then vodka and mountain dew... And was still sober. I'd intended on getting completely wasted, since I'd had a really bad day, but after that I ended up in a bedroom, with a boy, with my friends banging on the door intermittently (they even broke in once, which was just LOVELY, I can tell you. )... And now I have bite marks on my shoulder. *giggles*
Enough of that.

Drinks. Yes. Beer is good but, again, messes with the tummy if I have more than four or five. I usually mix my drinks with either vodka or whiskey. I tend to stay away from jagermeister these days. And I never do straight shots.
And, don't tell anyone (haha), but I like cosmos. My excuse is that it keeps me from getting scurvy on the pirate ship!

Guinness... hands down. I love it so much. :p :D

Kimberley

1) Single malt scotch
2) Wine... red or white depending on the meal
3) Guinness

After that, who cares?

Kahlua and creme. When I'm at home I usually make it with lactose free 1% milk. Lower in calories and easier on my stomach.

My #1 favorite is sake. I really love that stuff. It goes so well with sushi too.
