Hi all, just wondering if anyone here as ever taken a stage and sang/danced/acted while all dolled up? So far I have
1.)Been cast in my college play "The Crucible" as a female, "Tituba," the carribean slave woman
2.)I took a bellydancing seminar, at the end of which, we performed as a group..
3.)I'm a part-time standup comic, and once I performed as a woman... went pretty well too!
Anyone else?

Yes, I have performed as a woman in a number of amateur shows, including both acting and singing (in my own femme voice). In fact, I developed my female persona with the express intention of performing as Maggie on stage. I only wish I had more opportunities to do so.

I played a slightly ****ty version of Vanna White in a Greek Week college skit in the 70's. I didn't even volunteer, they picked me! First time in public in drag and I was wearing a minidress in front of 300+ people!

I've never performed en femme, but I'd like to. There is certainly plenty of precedence for it in the theater world, since ancient times.

Oh I want to do that standup bit just once. But I'm afraid they wouldn't be laughing at my jokes. If you get my drift.:(

"This one time; in sixth grade..."
I was chosen to read the part of Phoebie in a short play we read aloud one day in class.
guess this story is simply not as exciting as those 'Bandcamp' stories :D

Last year I was in Tudor drag playing the harp at the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival, and intend to do so again this year. (My avatar picture was taken there.)
I performed other music up in front of the Unity Church in Lawrence, KS, on harp, guitar, ashiko drum, and singing, dressed as I usually was for church, i.e. a dress, and I now sing in the choir at the Episcopal church in Muskogee (but I am in choir robes which are unisex, but you can still look at my feet and see that they are in hose and pumps). And not to mention numerous Rainbow Gatherings.

I have no talent at performing, but I would love to attend a Renaissance Festival en femme.
Hi Violetgray
I would love to do that, perform as a folkmusician en femme. I don't have the courage yet, but I think that maybe some day I will do it. It makes sense right? If you are a performer then why not?

Performing as my female self is a dream that I've had for many years, and I still think about it a lot. I played in rock bands for 20+ years, I play bass, and I always wished I could do it as the woman that I've always wanted to be. I used to have a fantasy about being one of the back up singers for the band "Pink Floyd" after seeing the video of "The Delicate Sound of Thunder". That video can still send chills up my spine. Lately I've been singing along with my Sheryl Crow greatest hits disk, I can manage her vocal range. Also, it's good for developing the female voice, I just don't quite have command of the voice yet, I can do it, but not without thinking about it yet. If I ever actually get serious about learning to play my guitar, I might be able to accompany myself, can't do that with a bass.

I did a fun thing at a performance, mainly set up by the rest of cast to try to throw the lead off his balance. It was a combo of "Name that Tune" and "Take it or Leave it". We had done 14 performances over the course of 3 months, with me as "The Banker:, straight guy in white shirt, grey slacks, tie, black blazer. One of the female performers, a real character, had talked me into dressing for the final performance.
I came to the performance en drab, did the usual pre-show stuff, but with my short, short bicycle skirt, nuBra, bra etc underneath. 10 minutes prior to curtain, I went to the workshop, put on my long blond wig, eye liner, mascara, stick-on nails, lipstick etc, (without the benefit of a mirror!). I wore a pair of 3" open-toe sandals which were easy to slip on.
I came out as my cousin Polly, because I had been called away at the last minute. The place erupted. The rest of the cast were so pleased with their plan! By the time the crowd settled down, the lead had recovered, and we had more fun than I could have imagined.
I was a bit concerned about the audience reaction, especially some of the older ladies, but when several came by after to congratulate me, and one, a very lively 70+ lady said, "If I had legs like that, I would wear a skirt like that!"
We have had several requests for a return performance, but unfortunately in one of the pics that found its way to the internet, you could see my cute little white sewn-in panties. I got a reprimand for that.
I would love to do more. A femme friend, who talked me into going to Bras with Bling, (and whom I think has connected the dots) wanted me to come en femme on a "girls Night" pub crawl to raise money for spousal abuse. She saw me dressed for an appearance as a cheerleader, and put a few final touches on the outfit. It had Polly written all over it, but I had another serious commitment that night.:(
I have no illusions about being a quality femme impersonator, but I have found that if I am having fun with it, so is the audience. I avoid becoming a caricature, and get only a bit risque, but I have enjoyed it thus far.
Trust me, if I have another opportunity, you will hear about it!:D :D
