I think I owe a reply to all of you who responded to my poll last week. I can’t tell all of you how much support and friendship I have found on this forum. It has literally changed my life. I have gone places and done things that were only dreams six months ago. Thank you members of the forum. You are wonderful! If I could share a couple of thoughts with members who are yet to take their first steps outside the home they would be:

(1) Study and work on your appearance
(2) Remember the whole world is not looking at you. All women are not raving beauties.
(3) Dress to blend in. The more you apply this rule the more rule #2 applies.

As was obvious in the poll, the skirt won over the jeans by a significant margin. And yes, I wore the skirt. And gee, did I feel good. As I observed the room (perhaps 200 women) there was probably a 90/10 ratio favoring pants of some kind. I still felt I fit in. I really like skirts. During most of the meeting I felt very comfortable.

There were a couple of incidents that gave reason to pause. It first occurred to me that attending a gathering of this type was quite different from going shopping, etc. Shortly after being seated, I started to think that I am going to be with these people for several hours. It’s not like passing someone in a mall or ever making a purchase in a store. Those around me, that are interested, will have several hours to study me and pass judgment on my feminine presentation. Is this, perhaps, a greater jeopardy than shopping etc? These concerns faded into very different thoughts generated by a subsequent incident.

Shortly after I sat down, a very handsome guy sat in an empty chair to the right and in the row ahead of me. He appeared slightly younger that the average attendee and was very stylishly groomed. His hair was pure white and he gave the appearance of a very self-confident man. After he was seated he checked out his surroundings and we exchanged glances---and a smile. I must admit that I noticed he was not wearing a wedding ring. I felt like I was flirting. During the meeting he repositioned himself in his chair with his arm on the back of the empty chair to his left so he could more easily check me out. He spent considerable time studying my boobs. I really experienced some very different feelings. Once when he was looking, our eyes caught and I got another very big smile. Everything ended when a male friend of his approached him and he moved to a different location in the room. . It was validating to a degree, but I think I might have experienced feelings similar to what a woman goes through when being stared at by a guy.

During the meeting I had two occasions to use the women’s rest room and had no trouble. The meeting was not as long as I expected but it was a wonderful experience. As I left the meeting site, the wind had picked up and gently teased my skirt. It was another reminder of the joys of living as a female.

I had several other experiences that are worthy of description. On the way to the meeting I stopped at a Wal Mart and bought a femme watch. This required a fair amount of talk between the clerk and I(me). The clerk was very polite. I think she read me but didn’t say a thing. After lunch at a Burger King I went to a Starving Artists show. I didn’t buy anything, but It provided a wonderful opportunity to interact with people. It was crowded. After leaving the art show, I called my wig salon to get the wig I purchased last week trimmed. She doesn’t do this kind of work but contacted a beauty salon two storefronts away, and the operator agreed to come to the wig shop to do the cut. She was a lovely woman and did a beautiful job of trimming and shaping the wig. I love it! While at the wig salon I had a nice conversation with the owner, who is a RN. Although her primary business is serving ladies with hair loss due to chemotherapy, she is very interested in serving the “Gender Community” and expects to have breast forms in stock in a few weeks. Might be fun to buy my boobs right down the road.

It was a wonderful day. Much of it was due to the support offered, directly and indirectly, by members of the forum,

Huggs,

Susan

Susan, way to go girl. Sounds like you had a very big day. And you say it's all because of us. I think this forum is good for everyone here in one way of another.
