Hi all. Im one of the quiet members of the group, reading almost all the postings, but not entering much myself.
This may get a bit long, so bear with me, please.
Recently I had the opportunity to take Physiology & Anatomy at the local college, and the instructor would point out differences between male and female of the common organs of our body. When covering the brain, he noted that the seperation between the two hemispheres was noticably narrower in the female brain vs. the male brain.
Now, fast forward a bit. My wife, who is non-supportive of Terrilynn, is an MRI Tech by trade. The hospital where she works recently installed a newer modern MRI and I usually end up being her test dummy for new types of scans and hard/software that she uses, so she can get some practice with it.
She did a total brain scan on me with the new machine, and was showing me the images after we finished. I asked if she could show me other brain scans as a comparison to see if i was all there (lol) compared to other people. She showed me a few, both male and female, and i noticed the hemisphere division was very noticable between men and women, mine showed like the female scans, and if i didnt know which were mine i could not have told the difference.
Could this be an indication of why i tend to feel the way i do about Terrilynn, and why i score a higher female leaning score in all the tests and inventories i have taken over the years (both online, and from my counselors)?
I would really like to hear from everyone with their opinions.

Terrilynn

p.s. Those who work in the health care field, there was NO HIPPA violation in reviewing the scans as the comp uses aptient numbers and no names were revelaed by looking at the other scans, so no ones privacy could be violated.

I've always known that there was something different about me, but have never been to that extent. Interesting, though... Maybe that distinction is what drives all of us.

Maybe there is something to all this. I have always felt that I was different.

You could be on to something Terrilynn. In my case the barrier is very wide between the hemispheres so nothing rattle's.A lot of space to fill and not a lot to work with. Justabit

what you say is true, there have been TV shows on this matter you just proved it yourself...
so what are you going to do about it, does this justify your actions ? and what is yet to come, full transition ?. very interesting your s.o , saw the images with her own eyes will this change anything to wards you ?she is a smart woman now she has something to think about

That really takes the cake of the saying "male on the outside and female in the inside".

I don't know if you are a rare case, or if maybe it is a study that should be done, it would explain alot!

Terilynn, that is fascinating!!! I have long thought there was something physiological -- or something to do with biology. The uterine "horormone"(sic. -- in a lol manner) bath theory has always intrigued me, and I have long thought it valid -- at least to some degree. What you are saying goes hand-in-hand with several possible theories that have been advanced -- and what I think is most significant about what you are reporting is that it is visible proof, not just theory. A few days ago, after hearing something on the radio (which was about females and certain behavioral traits some exhibit), my wife had the idea that I should get my horormone levels checked "just to see" if there might be a legitimate partial answer to why I am Barbara in mind, spirit and soul. Now I want to add a MRI and brain comparison. Thank you for sharing this!!!!!!! So many of us have felt the need to dress since "earliest of memories," that cd'ing cannot just be simple outside influences. The inner fem feelings were present way in advance of exterior influences. Thanks for sharing!!! (And, as an aside, maybe your discovery will help you with your wife and her level of acceptance and understanding!!! I certinly hope it does!!! Keep us updated!!!)

I also remember a study done a few years ago which showed that gay male brains are somewhere between male and female brains - that is, the space between the two hemispheres is not as pronounced as hetero men's brains, but not as narrow as women's brains. So definitely a physiological difference there too.

None the less, I would be VERY careful of the thin ice you apear to be on by viewing others' brain scans. Some overzealous enforcer could get your wife into SERIOUS trouble for sharing private information with you, someone not involved in patient care.

This is not my imagination here. Please be careful. The fine for a HIPPA violation is $250,000. Information used for teaching purposes is protected by informed consent, something which was missing in your viewing of these scans. Even though you have no idea WHOSE information you viewed, it was SOMEONES, and that person has a right to their privacy.

Thank You all for the replies so far.
MJ and Barabara4242-- i hope this does open more dialogue between my wife and i about Terrilynn. i hope very much that it is a new inroad for us
Staphanie--yes, my wife is very concerned about the HIPPA rules, and takes them very seriously. The patient numbers are only assigned by the admitting people, and even a followup visit is given a new id number. so there is no way that even she can access any other records than what is on her MRI comp, and those are cleared every week from her end, sent to the main data base of the hospital. I would never want to endanger her carreer by those violations.
