Youve probably heard this before but check out Ebay they often have very nice ones,Corsets can be very uncomfortable, but youll get used to it.
also when looking for one may I suggest that you get one that has boneing in it,as there are many being sold now a days that are shaped like a corset but their not really made to be functional,as a shaper.
I have a couple of them my self ones a victoria's secret, the other I beleive I purchased from Fredericks of Hollywood, both are terrific quality,My Fav is the fredericks as it shapes the back very well.

Try First-Class-Dessous this seller is on ebay. Its a German site but the corsets are great. Good at shaping and good value and exellent quality. Another is Luxtenabrae a UK site also highly recommended. Both have sites of their own.
Good luck

Ok, obviously I'm biased:D but really a custom corset is well worth the extra money. For one, a real corset isn't supposed to be uncomfortable at all - it's supposed to be tight on your chest and hips, but the waist is the only thing that actually gets compressed.

If you spend $200 or so on a real custom corset it will shape you in the areas you want (higher waist, fuller hips, etc...) , you'll be able to wear it for much longer, and it will last for years. I've never been able to wear a ready-made corset for longer than a couple hours, but the ones I make myself I can wear indefinitely.

If you decide to spend $60 or so on a Frederick's corset or something similar keep this in mind: It will have plastic boning instead of steel so after a couple wearings it will be permanantly deformed. If you want to wear it a lot, plan on buying one every 6 months as they cannot take any stress (the Frederick's Ultimate corset was the first one I ever owned).

Also, they are made for women so they have a tendancy not to stay flush on the skin - not good if you want to wear lightweight fabrics. women have wider hips, narrower waists and smaller chests that taper evenly to their waist (rather than a box-like ribcage like a man's). What happens is the back bows out and looks like a couple of parenthaces or a squiggly V. ( ) or | |
\ /
At the apex of the bow or point it pushes away from the skin and leaves a bulge. It's also really uncomfortable. Sometimes the back will bow the other way. ) ( In this case the top and bottom can stick out (leaving a bulge) or dig into your back and hips. What you want is a straight 1 - 2" gap. || It puts less stress on the corset, looks and feels much better!

Just my 2 cents, but I think you'd be better off waiting and saving up the money for a real corset. It only fits better and gets more comfortable with time - plus you get to choose the fabrics and colors!

Alayna is right, a custom corset is the only way to go for most of us guys. You take a big chance buying a corset a corset without trying it on as well. I like Dark Garden the best of Alayna's list, and I actrually visited their shop in San Francisco. I had the measurement/fitting done, but never followed up and regret I didn't. They can do mail order with measurements, but make sure a seamstress takes your measurements. They will then send you a rough version which they want you to wear, and photograph, and send back for them to make the final changes.

I also visited Stormy Leather (www.stormyleather.com) too. Stormy Leather makes corsets for the male body and doesn't make cousom corsets. However, most their stuff is leather. Leather however is more forgiving in being able to use a female corset on a male body. I have two Stormy Leather corsets. My favorite that I own is shown; the Octavia @$349.95:

 me likey! I'm working on a patent vinyl corset right now that has that kind of shape - hopefully it'll work out. I've never worked with vinyl before so it'll be interesting and fun! Before I started making them I almost bought the Courstesan from Meschantes. I had the measurements done and order form filled out - but I just couldn't bring myself to send it in because of cost.;) It's not easy to bite off that much $ for something but it's definitely worth waiting and saving for

Jenny, of course a custom corset would be the best way to go. However if budget is a major consideration you may want to try shopping here: http://www.glamourboutique.com/ Their prices are competitive with what I've seen. I have purchased from them before (in fact, I bought a corset from them) and have been very satisfied with both the products and the service.
