I'm not too sure how to put this but I was wondering if anyone has ever come across a site that has a questionaire about our cross dressing habits. Specifically, I was thinking about one that has a number of questions that depending on the answer you give at the end it will say if you have a tendency towards being TG / TS, or CD or TV. I've been struggling with my thoughts and feelings for so long and would really like to be able to get some scientific type help. Many times I've just "known" that there is a girl inside me just dying to get out, but then she stops clamoring and I go back to being the clueless male, but one who wears panties 24/7 and plays games and stuff under the name Jenna. I'm so unsure and afraid. It would really help to have some sort of signs that yes I'm a transgender or no I'm a crossdresser or whatever. I know that taking a test online isn't the definitive answer that I need but anything that can further my own self knowledge would be very much appreciated.

Yes, there is, or used to be, one. I don't have a link. Sorry.

Jenna, have you tried taking the COGIATTI Inventory? I'm not sure exactly scientific it is, but it is very detailed and gives a good review of your answers. It is free and downloadable to your printer once you have finished. It is a little long, but that helps in the details i think. Just google it at COGIATTI, and it should take you right to it.

Hi Jenna!

Please, do not be afraid. :bighug:

I've been struggling with my thoughts and feelings for so long and would really like to be able to get some scientific type help.

I know that taking a test online isn't the definitive answer that I need but anything that can further my own self knowledge would be very much appreciated. It takes us CDers a while to find our own sense of personal identity, and it can be a struggle at times. Only you, Jenna, can discover your true identity. An online test can be fun, and the questions can make us think constructively about ourselves, but please don't take it too seriously. Science doesn't yet have a satisfactory theory of gender to base any such test upon.

There are a variety of facets to crossdresing; it's not just a simple spectrum. Two CDers might be similar in certain aspects, but quite different in others, and also, we change in our attitudes as we learn & grow.

If you want to know where you fit in the TG universe, just spend time reading these forums. You'll find some things you agree with, others you disagree with. You'll find people that seem in a similar situation to yours, and you'll find people that are so different that they may be hard to relate to at all. We're a very mixed bunch, and that just makes us even more interesting. :)

Are you worried because you sometimes think you might be TS, and maybe even have had thoughts of transition? I suppose it's possible, but most TS people have had strong feelings about their gender identity for most of their lives, it's not something that comes & goes. If you read the TS forum here, you'll see what I mean. Of course, if someone is TS doesn't mean they have to transition. We all should do what is right for us. We each have to live according to our own gender identity, not what somebody else believes we should do.

:hugs:

Well I say this maybe too often but I do believe in it strongly...... What is some test or questionare or psych going to tell you about yourself that you either don't already know or suspect? Maybe I just don't understand.... Not the first time... Lol

Unless your have a gender ID problem and are planning to transition to the other side.......

Look at the facts.... You like to crossdress ... Your a crossdresser!!! And you have a certain sexual preference .... Pick one of three... F, M, both... So what are you looking for? If the questionare says that your a TS you going to dump the wife and run out and get a boyfriend? Hehe

What matters is what you like to do... And all this hub-bub about finding out why doesn't change a thing and isn't worth the time and effort and expense to find out why if it will not make a bit of difference in your life!! Your still going to love doing what you love doing! Right??

Well I disagree somewhat with Karren

While she is right the tests dont tell you much It many give you a better idea of how you feel by answering and thinking about the questions

You have realise these test are not that accurate

Remember gender and sexuality are seperate issues

I'm so unsure and afraid.

Have you ever talked to someone about how you feel? I don't necessarily mean a therapist, just someone you can talk to face to face in real time. A friend, a family member, someone in a support group? Sometimes just saying things out loud really helps. Then too, maybe finding a therapist who is knowledgable about gender issues would be helpful.

Robin makes some good points about TS, but just yesterday I was reading a post from someone who had identified as androgyne (which falls in the TG area) but realized she was confused about her feelings and was actually TS. That was the second person in a short time (in joke: "lost another androgyne to Ditech") and someone else thought she was TS and isn't sure right now what she is. So you have to be mindful of the fact that we can downplay our true feelings for various reasons. No test can point you to the truth if you're hiding the truth from yourself.

As Robin also said, these forums are a good way to help you figure out who you are. It's like that book "Are You My Mother?" I found myself asking if I felt the same way (within reason) that other people did who identified as ______. But then that's pretty much the way we figure out any of our identities, political, religious, whatever.

I also found that the Wikipedia page on Transgender (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgendered) was a good place to start learning more about the different identities in the transgender community.

You may find that your identity changes as you learn more about yourself. You may also find that it changes with each new discovery. The thing is to let that happen if it happens.

Hang in there Jenna. And know that we're here for you. :hugs:

I really don't think about it a whole lot...I learned a long time ago, there isn't a whole lot you can do to change how your life evolves...

Would I transition, YES twenty five years ago...do I second guess myself, no not one bit...Wouldn't trade my life as is for any ones...

Guess my lable would be realist...Learned a long time ago to just roll with the punches life throws at you and get back up and go on...

I scored a -20, which put me in the androgynous category, which is probably pretty accurate.

JENNA,

You are unique, one of a kind and your situation of course the same. Take the test if you need to, talk to someone; a therapist if necessary, but always know that the answers to your questions are already known by you and waiting to be discovered. If you are not hurting yourself or anyone else and it feels good, do it. Live your truth, enjoy this moment and breathe this breath. Revel in your journey dear. I am new on here and this is a place you might want do be, I find it very helpful. Remember you are fabulous, as are we all. Huggs, Ronni

Skip the cogatti test. It is as unscientific as a personality test can possibly be. Look at the questions. They are all based on stereotypes of men and women. Now if you want to know if you are more the fictitious June (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_Cleaver) or Ward Cleaver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ward_Cleaver), then have fun. But you're 50 years too late to play either role on television.

Warm regards,
Christina Nicole

The COGIATI test is very interesting. I found the questions to be as revealing and interesting as the results.

I want to thank you all for your answers. I've been struggling with my gender issues all my life and have binged and purged on many occasions. I've actually been to see the doctors at the Gender Dysphoria clinic a few times, but I stopped going because I was afraid of what my family and friends and most important what "society" would think about me. Another thing that has caused me confusion and stopped any sort of transformation, is that I'd transition to womanhood and end up a lesbian. I have very little interest in men even when in total drag. I have lived my whole life in fear of what others would say or feel about me and therefore have never really lived for myself. I've been seeing a counselor for over a year now and from the very beginning I made a vow to myself to be as honest and open as I possibly could with her. I told her of my crossdressing and my thoughts of possible transexualism and she took it all in stride. She's helped me to become much more comfortable with who I am both inside and out. I'm becoming more willing and able to accept who I am and love that person. Thanks for all your ideas and information. I"m going to go take that test and see how it comes out. Love to all. Jenna

The test will only tell you what you already suspect, at least thats what I suspect. ha, ha Whats wrong with transitioning and becoming a lesbian? You made it seem like that would be a problem. If thats what you are leaning towards you probably should discuss this further with a gender specialist and pursue the matter. Good luck and hope it all works out well for U.

Boy was I dissappointed.:D :heehee:
