I just finished reading both of her books. Let me just say, She has a point. Labeling ourselfs is pretty much useless. Sex and gender have nothing to do with each other. I have a deeper respect for women now, Just for short I was pretty dumb before. No Seriously, I really appreciate the respect the GG's on this site give us. Just wanted to say thanks !!! One thing Helen points out is, it's not the point of us tring to pass, blend, look like, act like, be mistaking for, etc; but she points out we as the trans community need to figure out not to be a women or not, but more importantly what kind of women. Where does your womenness fall? What is it your looking to get out of being a women? She points out there more downs to being a lady in the world, as society keeps them right at the glass cieling, which I now understand. With me: the changes and HRT, SRS, etc... I simply would like the respect of hearing Ma'am instead of Sir. That would round out my life just fine. I want not special treatments, or anything like that, knowing I woun't get them anyways. These Q's are hard for me to answer too. What kind of lady do you expect to be?

In all honesty Katie, being a CDer has brought character to me. Having been cast in the role of a woman (more or less) has given me more respect for them than ever before. I won't pretend to know what it really feels like but at least I have a little better idea, especially having been on the "receiving end" of some men's attitudes. The most important thing is that I consider the person before the gender, whether I'm dealing with men or women.

I like what you shared. A lot of food for thought.
I hope some day just to be a pretty man.
