Well girls, with spring coming in 17 days, it's almost time to let my leg hair re-grow. :( This is one of the wishes I uphold for my wife. She has no problem at all with keeping them shaved all winter, but likes them hairy in the summer, for shorts and swim trunks. The first day of spring is when I stop, which gives me a 6 weeks of regrowth. I usually start wearing shorts occasionally after May 1st. We also open our pool soon after. It's always a bit sad, but it's the least I can do for my wonderful wife! Being outdoors and enjoying summer always takes my mind off it until I start shaving again in November.

+? Does anyone else stop shaving for warmer weather?

I keep mine shaved year round and no one has ever said anyhting. We went to the beach with wife's brother and his family last year and his nosy bigmouthed wife did not have anything to say and she will say something, when no one else will, about anything.

Not me! I wondered about it the first summer, but nobody said a thing. It turns out that nobody cares if you shave your legs. And it's nobody's business anyway.

I understand that your wife cares, so do what you must. But if you tried, you would find it a non-issue. Most at work now know, and the only response has been "oh".

Lovies,
Steph

I, too, stopped shaving my legs this week. Monday night was the last time I shaved them. Actually, this is the first time I have gone from October to the end of February. Last year, the first I ever shaved them completely, I only lasted two weeks around Halloween.

I'm undecided, at work theres the usual work bully, that thinks it his business to know all and see all, and he does, when were in shorts he likes to point out how hairy every one is, I know this sounds petty but it's just a very small exsample of the BS he puts out, this is the same reason,I havent peirced my ears, old hawkeye would anounce it to the world!!, and it's not just me, it's the whole crew, so after all of this I don't no maybe,Geeeeeeeees

Even when I wasn't dressing or on this forum, from November to January, I still kept my legs shaved.I don't even think about it any more. Now that I have eliminated the razor spots and ingrown hairs, I don't want to start over. If you take notice, you will see that many runners and cyclists have very hairless legs. It is important to keep your promises though, so get hairy.

I'ts a sad day :( I to have stoped shaving my legs, a bit early this year, For spring break my brothers and sisters and I will be taking our parents to Las Vegas for their 50th wedding anniversary. Some time at the pool in shorts will most likely happen.

Most of my leg hair doesn't grow back anymore. Just a tuft on the knees. It looks kinda strange so I keep them completely shaved. No one says anything. They either don't notice or don't care. Athletic swimmers always keep their legs shaved, and I've heard that racing bicyclists and runners do as well.

So Keep them shaved. You know that they look and feel sooo much better.

I can shave or not as I like, so the season doesn't matter for me.

Suzie, would you try a little experiment for me? I know you don't shave in the nice weather because your wife asks you to and you love her. And not shaving makes you a bit sad. Rather than approach it from a negative (or minus or whatever), try coming at it from a positive. "I choose to not shave my legs as a sign of my love for my wife." I've found that saying "I choose" (positive) rather than "I don't" (negative) puts me in a better frame of mind, and both reminds me both that I have choices and that I've made this choice for a particular reason. I also find that it makes that reason just a little more special for me.

Halloween has been peak season. I've recently shaved more around my ankles. I've also tried to thin the entire growth by plucking a bit here and there, now and then. I think it's working. I'm thinking about shaving more this summer.

Do epilators work?

I've found out that having a positive outlook like Casey suggested has worked out well for me. That being the case, whatever I do, I do because I choose to. The reason doesn't matter. The point is that you take ownership of yourself and manage yourself and no one is certainly going to fault you for that. Without getting too metaphysical, I will say this. We are in control of our own destinies and self management and ownership are the keys to shaping those destinies. Being totally responsible for who we are and what we do is also important.;)

I have been keeping my legs shaved since last spring. The only one who said anything was my 21 year old daughter. And all she said was she wished her fiance would shave. I personally don't care what poeple think. It's how comfortable you are with yourself.

You do what you must to get the help and support of your wife. Over, time, things might be different. When I was in CT(before retiring in FL), I used to use a hair trimmer and compromise between full shaved and not shaved - nobody noticed. Then the last year i was there, I shaved and nobody said much of anything. chris

Honoring your word is important especially with your SO. I shave all year around. I never wear shorts and haven't for 30years UV gets more dangerous every year. I find it interesting how different people react to what other people say I don't give it much attention any more. I guess it is one of the advantages of being older. Love Kahlan

To avoid the potential "questions" I very rarely wear shorts. I think I own one pair someplace in my bottom dresser drawer. My swim trunks are a different matter. I have a pool in my back yard and surprisingly rarely use it. After spending all day vacumming and cleaning it, I just want to get away from it.

I'll wear long legged pants even on the hottest day, just don't really care for shorts.

The best thing I've found to help "there" is to be sure to use a good exfoliating scrub cream and a "Loofa" sponge or if you're brave a stiff brush everytime you take a shower. Of course you don't want to use too much pressure in the "sensitive area"
I have found that it seems to help me. :2c:

I stopped weeks ago since I was wearing pants instead of skirts. But since it is starting to get warmer, I'll go ahead and start shaving again.

I was in the same boat as you, and honored my (ex) wife's wishes that I not shave except during the winter months. Nw, since the end of our marriage, I have remained shaved for the last 2 years.. and IF anyone has noticed, no one has said a thing. It's a simple matter of personal grooming as far as I'm concerned.

I feel sorry for you hairy leged gals. I am just the opposit, I look forward to the summer as I shave my legs every day and who knows how much lotion I use, I also try to get as much tan as possible, the outcome is very smooth pair of legs. And the strange thing is hardly anyone notices, only a couple times in the past 10 years or so has anyone said something.
I do remember a lady who was standing behind me in line at Wall Marts asked, "What do you use on you'r legs", and went on to say she wished her legs looked as good as mine, I just replyed plenty of lotion, then smiled and thanked her for the compliment.

I am so glad that is not me anymore. I keep mine shaved year round. I love the look of my tanned legs in shorts or capris. I feel for you girls who can't have this during the summer.

I wear shorts every summer... I guess I'm hot blooded or something, I usually start to sweat at anything over 70 degrees F. Shorts are a must for me and no one has said anything about my legs except one person that said they liked them.

P.S. I'm always in guy mode when I'm outside, 'cept my underclothes.

In summer I guess I am a metrosexual. These days it does not even matter.

Thankfully

Enjoy your time.

Obviously, there isn't much you can do if the wife wants it that way. But many non-CD guys shave anyway, as others have said, for cycling, swimming, weight lifting (so you can see their muscles better at competition), etc.

I think it's our slight guilty conscious that makes it seem that we're doing something we shouldn't be doing.

I mean, how many people see a competitive swimmer in the supermarket without hairy arms and legs, and automatically think he must be a crossdresser? That's right, no one.

Compromise......I agreed to enjoy my wifes hair cut short (gota admit its cute) and she deals with my legs shaved all year round. Never had anyone say a word.....Its a metro world these days.

Suzie, I'm on the same schedule, off in October, back on in March. It is one of the things I do for my wife. Frankly, I would keep them shaved all the time but she won't go for it. I suspect she sees this as a test of my willingness to keep our agreement and to maintain some level of control of my CD. Love the Spring and Summer, but look forward to the Fall.

I am still shaving my legs an in two weeks will have them waxed for the first time. After the waxing I will let the hair grow until mid September. Then I will start the whole process all over again. Although, my sister-in-laws have seen my shaved legs while getting pedicures and manicures no one has said anything to me or my wife about them. I guess I'm just afraid of what the neighbors or co-workers will say during the summer when in shorts.

Why exactly do swimmers and other athletes keep their legs shaved?

ElleCD
03-03-2007, 08:35 PM
i keep mine shaved all the time. if it's your wife's wish that you do not in summer and she is otherwise supportive I think you have a pretty good compromise going there.

paulaN
03-03-2007, 09:23 PM
I think it is great that you are keeping your word. I also think it is great that she is supportive. But I would try to renegotiate the matter every chance I got. there is nothing like shaved legs in the summer.

This will be the first time that I will have my legs shaved all year long. When summer comes, I will wear shorts, I do not think anyone will notice, or care.
Lots of men do not have hair on their legs.

I will admit this is the longest I have kept my legs shaved in my whole life. I think I shaved them back in early November and so enjoyed keeping them smooth. But I love to wear shorts in the summer and we have a pool. I am gonns hate to stop shaving but I have to. Funny thing , my wife doesn't say much when I walk around the house in my undies which is most every day I hate wearing long pants around the house. I would really like to keep them smooth all year long, I can see it now smooth tan legs with nicely polished toes laying out in the sun sounds so sexy:heehee: I could dream can't I:happy:

Not having hair on your legs can be a normal thing. I've seen lots of men, especially my age that have "bald" legs.

Funny... When you get older, hair dissapears from where you always had it and re-appears where you never had it before. (like your ears.)

been shaving them since i was a teenager,so
now its no big deal.suzie, you are doing the right

 Thanx for all the support girls! It's really no big deal to let the hair grow back. I'm quite used to this schedule, and I know I will be shaving again come fall. It's my choice to not renegotiate these terms with my wife. I am comfortable with getting to shave them for half a year. I take the good with the bad. There is so much else good that comes with the arrival of spring. Warmer weather, brighter days, longer days, opening my pool, etc. I soon completely forget about my legs!

But there are a lot of issues that I have with it.

Part of it is "hiding" from the public, and part of it is because I don't think the GF will agree; maybe her and I need to talk about it, I don't know. I know I shouldn't "hide" from anyone, I should be proud of who I am, right? Wrong. I don't think I could handle anyone making a remark about it at any place and time. And I know it really shouldn't matter where you live, but I'd like to be in a place a little more open-minded.

I do feel a little better knowing that some of you stop for the summer. Again, I thought I was the only one who did it. I'm not sure if keeping my legs shaved all year should matter to me, but it does. It says so much more than what it is. It says I'm not ashamed of who I am. I'm not saying everyone needs to do what I do, it's more of a personal thing. If it's out of respect for your SO, that's fine; you're respecting their wishes. But if I think that I can possibly go past whatever is bothering me, it will personally mean a lot. I apologize if I've hurt anyone's feelings. I hope that someone could give me some kind of insight to this.

I know some will say, "Ahh, screw them! Be yourself!," but it's not that easy for me, as I tried to explain earlier.

g2g to work. See you all later.

Hi,

I'm kind of opposite. I usually keep mine hairy in the winter, and wax a few times in the warmer months. I cycle, so I get that excuse. It's all about compromise, and my girlfriend has been fine with a few months of hairlessness each year.

Sally24

I used to enjoy the Winter as the time to shave and full enjoy wearing hose and all that. Last year our "femme" vacation happened in July so I eppilated my arms and legs for that. I have pretty much kept them that way ever since. My older son was the only one who commented and that was only once. Now instead of dreading the onset of warm weather, I look forward to it. I can wear shorter summer dresses, bathing suits, and shorts. I do have to get some tan on my legs though as the white skin doesn't look that great without hose.

Sally

Alyshia121,
We are all a "work in progress" so don't be down on yourself. There are very few that are full out to everyone in the world. We all have our own issues, but you just keep working on them. It took me 50 years to come to some kind of healthy understanding of myself. Take your time and you will find a space that you are comfortable and happy with.

I have kept mine shaved for almost two years now. I pay golf at least twice a week in shorts, go on dive trips and go about everything daily. No one has ever made a comment about it. The biggest worry was myself and I soon learned that no one cares andd I can enjoy the shaved look and feel.

I used to stop shaving my legs around spring time. It used to have a very negative effect on my dressing up because nothing killed the mood more than putting on a pair of pantyhose and seeing nice long flowing leg hairs underneath. For the past couple of years I've been shaving year round, I don't really care anymore about people asking if I shave my legs. Being able to dress and feel good about is far more important to me than stares at my legs when I'm in male mode. Jocelyn

Maybe I am in the minority, but I told my husband that I hate when Spring and Summer will be here because I love how he looks without hair. I tried to give him excuses to remain hairless and just tell people he is working out and wants to show off his defined muscles...but alas...all the hair has returned. :(

I keep mine shaved year round and no one has ever said anyhting. We went to the beach with wife's brother and his family last year and his nosy bigmouthed wife did not have anything to say and she will say something, when no one else will, about anything.

This sounds like something my sister in law would do! I was at a party with them a few years back. I was wearing a pair of "man" clogs. My sister in law noticed and just about screamed "why are you wearing fag shoes!!" In front of 20 or so people. No one cared, I didn't care, but she and my brother tried to make a scene of it.

This will be my first summer shaved, I am curious to see what my sister in law will say about it.
