View Full Version : Acceptance

Though we might all start feeling that acceptance is the by-word these days, let me tell you this story. A charatable organization offered a calender by mail for a small donation. The calendar featured men dressed as women for the Relay for Life Cancer organization. When an internet friend wrote an e-mail and inquired about purchasing said calendar she mentioned she was transgendered. Well, the woman selling the calendars "went-off" telling her she could not receive such e-mails at work and to cease communication immediately. Once again I should point out the sister said nothing wrong in her e-mail. She was polite and courteous, but the mere mention of the word "transgender" triggered an ugly reaction.

Sounds to me as if shes worried where the donations are coming from...A donation is a donation...I'd kill her with kindness and send a donation any way and suggest where to put that copy of the calendar...:2c:

I'd go up the chain to her supervisor. She was probably wearing pants when she wrote that. What a (*&^*(& moron. Only total moron would crossdress and then speak out against it. What a loser.

It is depressing how petty some people can be - imagine being upset by talking to "one of those perverts" over the internet. She probably rubbed her computer with alcohol afterwards....:Angry3:

You may have misunderstood. The woman that "went off" on the e-mail which mentioned "transgender" was a GG. The calender was done to raise money for Relay for Life (which raises money for Cancer research) and featured men (who were not crossdressers or TGs) dressed as women. It would be what the non-TG/CD world refers to "a hoot."
I doubt I could have appealed to her superior because she (the GG) was running the whole thing. That's why I contacted her to begin with. However, I thought I would help her get a little extra business by helping her sell some of the calenders. So everything probably would have been fine if she hadn't received an e-mail from a "sister" saying she would like to purchase a calender and that she was "trangendered."
Then she (the GG) e-mailed me and said she could not receive e-mail such as this at work . (She was acting like it was pornograhic!) I should hasten to add the woman (GG) lives in a rural community. So maybe she's never laid eyes on an actual TG before!

Oh Yea, People are Threatened again by Transgender People. It can only make you wonder if they are stable in their own world. If they were then there should not be any threat there.

That's a normal reaction.
I belong to several Gay Social Groups and several times a year, we do fund raising events. All the money raised is donated to charities. Each year we make up a list of local charities in need, then contact them about making donations.
In the last few years, the average has been three out of four.
Three out of four "charities" refuse our donations, as soon as they find out we're a Gay organization.
One of our Gay Groups, raised $50,000 last year, so there are a lot of charities that missed out.

Similar story here in B.C. this past week when the breast cancer society refused to accept a large donation from a bunch of exotic dancers who volunteered their time and raised a substantial amount as they did last year when the donation WAS accepted.
Another cancer group came forward to accept it.Amazing
