View Full Version : Checking into a hotel enfemme

Well, I tried.. But just couldn't do it!! And it's on my list to do this year. Drove to Charleston, WV tuesday night enfemme, and had planned to check into a hotel enfemme. Didn't make reservations and at the time that seemed like a good idea but looking back, probably not. And I had 2 to choose from, drove by the lobby of the first and it was crowded so I went on to the second. Not crowded at all but there were two young girls working the front desk. And I still have that fear of using my real name and credit card info while enfemme.... Like they might call the office or home and tell everyone I know or something... hehe

So I threw on a jacket, pair of slacks and wiped some of the makeup off, ball cap and went in to check in. Have you stayed with us before or did you make a reservation? NO.... Lets see some photo ID and a major credit card!!! Now that would have been fun enfemme!!! lol

One of the clerkettes kept looking at me and when I got to the room I didn't do a very good job of wiping off the makeup... Later that evening I went in and out the front door enfemme and neither of them said a thing.... just smiles... So I'm sure they knew... "Well, another crossdresser.... that's 10 this week.... Business is picking up" hehehe

So how many of you do check in enfemme and how do you do it? Spare no details please..... the year is getting shorter...

Hon--Ive checked into a hotel en femme and there was nothing to it--It was a hotel that I stay and dress at all the time while on business and they know about my dressing---I was wearing a gold satin camosill (sp) top under a short black silk blazer with tight stretchy femme jeans, moderatly heeled sandals, painted toe nails, full face make up and a long red wig---I had to stand behind another customer while I was waiting to be checked, checked in gave the clerk my credit card and he gave me the room card/key--no problem-- neither he nor the other customer said a thing--I'm sure he know but the other customer didn't-also I have gone to countless hotels and never been asked for a photo ID when I checked in, just the credit card and if approved, no problem--

I pay cash when shopping enfemme so theirs no paper trail... And hotels don't take cash.... Plus when I travel for business I need the reciept to turn in for my expense account...

I can see my boss asking me "Who's Karren Hutton and why do you have her hotel reciept?". Hehe

I have thought of a couple ideas that I might try... 1) Make the reservations in my wifes name and use her credit card.... Same account numbers just with her name... So they will be expecting a female..... Or 2) get a VISA gift card or a hotel gift card... The last one needs some more work.. Lol

Your way way way more open about it than I am..... And a big problem I have is that a lot of the places I go, I have gone for decades and know a lot of "Coal mining people" there.... And that's a big problem for me... Tuesday night I stayed at a hotel about 30 minutes away from the hotel where my meeting was the next day... Just so I wouldn't bump into anyone...

On the trip home Wednesday I was going to dress and drive home but didn't... And stopped at a rest area and when coming out a guy ran up to me and grabbed me from behind... Scared the crap out of me but it was an old friend!! Glad I wasn't enfemme... Lol

In Indiana, the BMV will issue an ID card (similar to driver's license but with ID ONLY stamped real big). If PA does the same, can you go to BMV en femme and have a photo ID taken using your birth name? If you prefer to use Karren, maybe you can get an ID using that name and a new credit card with Karren on it - I'm sure the card company would issue an additional card for your account using Karren (they don't know it's not your daughter).

I believe I saw another thread where someone suggested using your initials instead of a full femme or male name.

Karen,
Like you, I have a company car and a company credit card. I worry about being stopped by the police in the company car while en femme and the officer deciding to call the company for some lame reason and outing me, or worse yet, I know if I had a wreck and had to go to the hospital I know they'd call the office. But, that's a little off topic. My hotel drill is this: First of all, I stay in a place where I can park at my door and not have to walk through a lobby (Is this a motel rather than a hotel?). I don't use my company credit card. I put it on my expense account later. I check in in more-or-less androgenous mode, which would typically be girl's jeans, top, and shoes, little to no makeup, and my hair kind of fem or in a ponytail (my hair is collar bone length). Im comfortable with this for a number of reasons. I'm still recognizable by my photo I.D. and my male name credit card is not questioned. I'm pretty comfortable in androgenous mode, and I don't ruffle any feathers. This is about the best I can pull off after work. If they see me later, I've left enough clues that no one will be surprised.

I have no problem checking out en femme, and, in fact, look forward to it. It's kind of the first test of the morning. I've always been treated extremely well, and usually get a "mam" to brightem my day! I'll spend a day doing my thing, then go through the inevitable change on the drive home (makeup removing wipes work amazingly well while driving).

Hi, I'm pretty sure having a credit card in a false name would be illegal, but unless you failed to meet the payments who's going to know? I was thinking the other day about knocking out a id card for myself on my computer: as id cards are not compulsory over here (as yet) I can't see that it could be classed as fraudulent unless you were acting with some criminal intent that is.

As for going into hotels en femme I went to a fantastic TV weekend in Blackpool last week and had a great time. Before I arrived at the hotel I couldn’t bring myself to just walk in, I had to use my mobile phone from outside and ask: This is the right hotel isn’t it, and the right weekend? Can you imagine if it hadn’t of been and just strolling in all glamed up to the wrong gathering, could have been a Hells Angel convention or something… sure they would of understood!

Karren,

It is easy.
I am not that discreet, I can't stand the worrying about such things.
And I don't care as much as you seem to whether anyone finds out.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, after all...I'm just *sigh* another *unique* person.

I do behave in a friendly and outgoing way, and simply smile genuinely, and goodheartedly as I hand over my credit card or driver's licence with my MaleFace on them. Friendly Eye-Contact shows I have nothing to hide, or fear...this is just how I am.....And I see this doesn't seem to work for you?

I am guessing you have much more at stake in being *outed* where you live.

I'd be talking Apples while you are living Oranges.

So come to SF and check into a Hotel over here! How's that for advice ?

I *had* to do it once. I went to Chicago to get a makeover from Tranformations by Rori and then attend a Mardi Gras party she was having. Not being from the area, I got a room in drab the night before. Had my makeover the next morning. Well it turns out the party was a ways from where I was staying, and didn't realize it until it was too late. So all dolled up I checked out of my original hotel, drove the 45 minutes to the party place and got another room very close to the party. Since I had to do it, I just mustered up my courage and walked in. Everyone obviously knew I was a CD, but were all very polite. Checked out and drove home en femme too. It was a great experience, gave me lots of confidence, but I am pretty sure that if I weren't forced to do it, I probably would have chickened out. I came a long way with being comfortable as Jennifer that weekend. Sure people notice, but that's part of the fun I suppose. I just acted like I was the hit of the lobby - and I was!

Karen: I make a reservation in advance. Walk up to the desk and present my credit card and drivers licence. I have never been questioned. For one TriEss dinner meeting I had a social hour in my suite and went to the desk to ask for some paper plates and cups. All enfemme. The same rule applys when checking into a hotel or motel as applies when shopping--Money rules. Besides that it is just fun.

Karren,
I too had those same fears. Here is an excerpt from my anthology. You can read the rest of the page here:

When all is said and done, just do it!

I head toward the never ending blur of noise, that is the casino floor. And people think we crossdressers are outrageous? These places are insane. What a hodge podge of color and gawdiness. Top it off with mirrors everywhere, though, I like that, I get to check my hair, outfit and walk, as I go past. I look at the people sitting at the slots, most pay me no attention as I pass them by. Following the sign to the front desk, I get there without incident. I arrive at the cattle chutes with an old man and a young man in front of me. The young man has a friend with him, he is nearby to the side. Are these the guys from the parking lot I wonder? I try to remain as innocent looking as possible. I stand their with my best female posture, though me feet were killing me. I shuffle my stance from time to time. There is two women working th efront desk, thank goodness. After about 10 minutes, the closest desk girl asks for me. I hand her my itinerary, she tells me what kind of room I'm getting. I think it's what I wanted, I'm not really listening. Just get me to my room, please, now! She needs my i.d. and a major credit card. Oh boy, here we go! I reach into my pocket book and pull them out and place my big bald mug face on the counter. She says nothing, she is very courteous. Thank you.

I get my room keys and she points the way. She didn't even inquire about me needing a bell boy. That's ok, didn't want one. I head through the halls and to the elevator. The female security smiles and I smile back. Another elevator ride. Thankfully, no other passengers. I get to my room. Walk in and to my delight is a huge bathroom. It's what I wanted most in a hotel room. Two sinks, huge shower, a toilet, and a large makeup counter with magnifying mirror and a plush chair to enjoy while I take an eternity to apply my face. Yes, I'm in girl heaven. A room to myself. I can spread out my stuff, yeah!
I drop my things and check my look. Not bad for 8 hours after my shave. I sit at the desk and call room service. They'll be up in 30-40 minutes. Perfect, gives me the opportunity to go back to the car and do it all again, ugh!

Hi Karren,

I had an experience some months ago that sort of forced my hand. I was having a Susan Day and had checked into my favorite motel en drab. Following my normal routine I had dressed and had gone to a nearby mall to look for some shoes. After shopping, I returned to the motel for a change of femme clothing and discovered that I had neglected to put the room key card in my purse. Everything else was there but no key card. What to do? Everything except what I did have I my purse was in the room. Looked for a cleaning lady but no luck.

I HAD NO ALTERNATIVE! I went to the office, told them I had locked my key in the room and asked for another. They asked for my driver’s license. They checked the name against the motel registration, returned my license, gave me a quizzical look and another room key.

I’ll not check into this motel en drab again. All I can say is GO FOR IT! Just as in shopping, all they really care about is your money. As far as anybody recognizing you, your femme appearance is totally different than your male look. And darn, that is good.

And while were talking of details, how about a detailed description of your “Change on the Fly” technique. Please include the preplanning activity as well as changing room techniques. I’m sure a lot of us would appreciate it. I done similar things, but I always feel very awkward. I need to smooth my routine.

You’re a dear,

Susan

Reminds Me of the time I went out clubbing with one of My friends dressed in the same outfit you see in My avatar---about 11 pm W/we were returning to My hotel room--the damn card wouldn't open the door---I had to walk My leather covered, high heeled ass down to the front desk to get a new key--that's right big blonde hair, heavy killer makeup, shoulder length black leather gloves, super short, super tight black leather mini dress and thigh high black leather boots with 4 inch heels---oh and did I mention I was carrying a flogger--I suspect I would have drawn attention even if I was a 5' 5" GG dressed like that let alone a 5'11" T-Girl---the two ladies on the front desk just smiled and made Me a new card. After that I got over being embarrassed by being out in public

Its not against the law to have a second card issued with any name on it. Its not lying. It could be your children, girlfriend, cat or your houseplants name. One of our business cards has 2 additionals on it, "driver redservicetruck" and "driver boomtruck" YOU as the primary cardholder are responsible for paying any and all charges made on that additional card so where does the lie come in?. Its kind of pointless as a way to buy stuff without ID as many card companies have changed the merchant agreement to require ID anyways.

It can be frustrating and embarasing but when the time comes (and it will if your out dressed alot) when you need to show ID, just show it, and move on. Most of the time ID is just glanced at, have a recent lisence photo taken with long hair and no one will even bother looking at name and gender. they glance at the photo and parrot off "yup, thats you" as a trained PR responce when dealing with customers, same as "have a nice day and "welcome to ~~~~, how may I help you".

I've not yet checked in a hotel "en femme". So far I have only been going in and out of the hotel while dressed "en femme" after checking in in drab.

I may have to check "en femme" in the near future as I will have a "business" meeting with an European Transgender support organisation and I may not have the possibility to change back in drab before I will check in the hotel. But what I will do, in that case is warning the hotel management ahead of time in order to avoid any surprises...

On the coming in and out of the hotel, I had no problem at all with the staff nor with the custommers who probably didn't notice that I was a CD from the distance...

I have not really given it a thought, until you mentioned it, Karren.

I can tell you this, when I use my CC to reserve tickets or a hotel/motel room, I give them my given name and CC number, then tell them that Brianna will be picking up the ticket or "I'll be checking in as Brianna Lovely".

I have not had any problems, yet.

Karen,
I guess I figured that you had done it all but go figure! Get yourself a state issued ID in your fem name, shouldn't be a problem. Add a credit card in Karen Huttons name and have fun with it. I always use my credit cards and ID when I am out and about en-fem and have never had any problems. I agree it could have been a problem if you were en-fem and your friend spotted you but I'll bet you he wouldn't have known you in your fem mode so he wouldn't have grabbed you, unless of course he is on the prowl for a "hot babe". You can pass easily and should not be all that concerned, I on the otherhand hope to be like you when I grow up.

i have a few times but let the guy do the talking if it happens, and avoid eye contact. not sure why, f*ck them if they care. they're ignorant fools if they judge another person negatively just because that person likes being the female role, but they're the majority so we have to put up with it and be realistic sadly...:o

Just last Friday my Boyfriend and I checked into a Hotel. He handled the check in while I stood a few feet back from the reservation desk. I was in full female mode, but in my babuska, old clothes, lipstick and Oversized Prescription Sun Glasses, I don't think that I received any looks. After checking in and bathing I changed into more sexy attire and enjoyed a Night of Dining, Dancing, Gambling, and More. & :hugs: Trina - I Love Being a Girl

It was last year that I first checked into the hotel dressed. Often since.

Points : If there is a choice, take the desk with the crowd in front of it. The staff are busy and want to see the end of the queue.
Credit card : get one with your name showing as K Hutton or X.yyzz the latter being your name without the Mr prefix.
(Photo id I have no idea, but set up the photo with a male looking female){Are you allowed to use your own phot when you obtain the photo ID in the states ?}
Perhaps you could try the small hotel rather than the expense account one, admittedly there will be a larger contact with reception. (Owner ?) but who cares ? Perhaps US small hotels do not bother with the ID business. Surely they are not all running scared....

Karren, first I have to say I am shocked! The great Karren Hutton afraid to do anything???:tongueout Ok well here's my :2c: . If you stay at a hotel, even though you present your credit card at check in, all you have to do is tell them you prefer to pay with cash upon checkout. ALL hotels allow this. Then you will have a cash reciept for your expense account. My mom had 2 names, one for business use. She went down to the DMV and got and ID issued in her business name. Getting a CC in your femme name would be easy once you have ID. The social security # stays the same. One word of advice where my mom was concerned though, her business name was still a female name which did involve her real middle name with a made up last name, so that could cause a problem for you. You can always get on the phone and make a call to find out. Come on now Karren, don't let the gurls down, get out there and show them how it's done! :D

I have been to your great city a couple of times, never en femme. Honestly, in some parts of town, I think I would have fit in better en femme. Karen, the fact that, in spite of your library of photos, vids of you waking etc, you are still hesitant to check in, gives me a bit of hope. Maybe I am not that far behind. It's just that you look so damned good and I don't. Great story, as usual. w.

Karren, the desk staff at most hotels and motels have seen plenty of crossdressers in their time. The staff at the one you took the time to get out of femme mode for check-in probably were sharp enough to put two and two together and know exactly who Karren really was when you went out later. So, what's the problem? They probably know who you are anyway. They don't have any reason to give you any problems and plenty of reason to keep you happy for return business. You should go ahead and check in while fully dressed and made-up. Just hand them your regular ID and credit card (personal - not a company one), smile, and enjoy the adventure.

I keep trying to expand my dressing and this is on the list. The closest I have come is a few hours after I checked in in drab at hotel in chicago and had donned my tiffany clothes and makeup, I had to go to the front desk for an adapter for their internet service. I wasn't going to change, so I just went down, spoke to the very friendly girl who never said a word.

The credit card company would likely ask for your SSN. The name would have to match that. They probably have had people try to commit fraud and have become careful....maybe...

Dear Karren,
I know your dilemma concerns obtaining reimbursement for a hotel room not registered in your business name. I'm not sure how to solve that one unless you make the reservation in your business name, but indicate the room will be occupied by Karren. Or, when you make the reservation, ask the hotel to simply charge your business card on Karren's behalf (she is a client maybe??).

As to a credit card for Karren, I have two such cards for Mary. I simply called the credit card company and had Mary added to the list of people authorized to sign for purchases. That has not been a problem at all.

I am interested in your list of goals. I also have a mental list. One was to go regularly to the movies en femme (which I do) and another was to shop at Home Depot. Have done that, too. I am not at your level of courage yet, and am quite sympathetic with what you are facing as you try to muster the courage to face the desk clerk. We each have our own level of worry about that sort of thing. Oh, to have the level of Butterfly B!

Have fun and good luck!

Its all fun.
Worried about an easy exit from a railway carriage or whatever ?
Now you like the restaurant scene, consider the following:
What is the easy exit when you want to "escape" before you have got through the second course, never mind not having attracted the waiter's attention to obtain and pay the bill ?

I and a couple of othr CDer's were in the hallway talking when one of the Hotel managers came back and asked if we ladies were having a good day. We all said yes and she went on her way. I feel hotel staff are like doctors, they have seen it all.

Nope but it's on my list of things to do too.
One thing that I have done that seems to concern you is use my company credit card dressed. They don't care in the least little bit that your enfemme - you sign your real name and show the real ID if they ask.

The first time I had a chance to go out fully dressed as Stephanie was when I had to take a trip to another city a few years ago. I was driving so I decided to do it in my prettiest. I had no problems at all during the entire trip. I even used the womens room at the rest stop without anyone running out for the highway patrolman who was there. When I got to the hotel it was about 1:00 in the morning. I simply walked up to the desk, told the clerk I had a reservation (which was in my male name) and gave him my card (also in my male name), the clerk definatly read me, I don't pass now and really didn't then, but he made polite small talk, checked me in without a comment, and that was it. I think he even upgraded my room a bit, I know that the next time I was there in drab my room wasn't as nice. I have not had the chance to check in to another hotel en femme as I don't travel much, but I will definatly do it again. As others have said, hotel folks have seen it all. In fact when I was a teen my father wouldn't let me get a job in a hotel as he didn't feel I was worldly enough, LOL.

As to the name issue on an ID, My wife went through 3 different drivers liscenses in 2 months due to her divorce and marriage to me. The California DMV said you could have any name on your ID you wanted as long as it wasn't for fraudulant purposes, and the same applies for your credit card. As long as the person who owns the card is real, they can authorize anyone else they wish to use it, even if it is themselves in a different persona.

Anyway, keep up the good work Karen, you are something of a hero (heroine) to many of us here. Thanks.....Stephanie

So I'm starting the week working in North Carolina and then I have to drive up to Richmond Virginia where I will be working the rest of the week. I'm thinking how cool it would be to make the drive dressed and spend the day that way. So I got at least part of the guts up for it and sent an email (from my female email) asking the hotel if they would have a problem with it. That was this afternoon and I haven't yet received an answer. Don't know if they'll ignore my question, or if they're too busy laughing to respond - I'll let y'all know what they say.
So I got the guts up to ask - getting the guts up to DO it is a different matter entirely! We shall see!
As long as we're on the subject, anyone know of anything fun to do enfemme in Richmond?

100% agree with you on that concern. No way I'd do that with out an exit available. Unless of course I was with a dozen other Tgirls! lol Safety in numbers and all that!

The Hotel Receptionists are workers, like Shop Assistants are workers. They take an order, process it and pass it over to the cashier or handle the cash/credit themselves. It does not matter what the order is for - to them a customer has asked for something.....
You just go into that hotel reception, dressed and ask for a room, you know you can - if you really want to.
That is not the difficult part.
The harder bit is walking down into the Dining Room in the morning, sitting down at a table and enjoying that breakfast.

Off with you girl and enjoy..

In June or July 2005 I was waiting for a Bus while enfemme. I boarded it feeling great and very self confident, but two blocks from where I boarded the Bus Driver stops the Bus, and asked me, I was sitting up front, near the driver, If I had left my purse, with money, ID, keys, at the stop. A wonderful couple, in a car, following the bus had noticed that I had left it behind, on the bench at the stop the . All my
" stuff ' was still in the purse, I thanked, them, gave them a twenty dollar reward and walked back home, vowing to NEVER ride the bus enfemme again. One week latter I was back riding the bus as a lady. & :hugs: Trina - Now Clutching My Purse Firmly When Out

I have checked into the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Atlanta as a girl but that required no bravery on my part since it was during SCC and the place was flooded with Tgirls and CDs for that huge Tranny Convention! I also checked out there enfemme, and drove home.

On Saturday night a bunch of us in Atlanta got a limo to haul us around. I decided to get a room so I could drink, ride in the limo then crash at the hotel with no worries of driving home after partying. Anyway checked in as a guy and the clerk seemed kinda interested in me (very cute guy, gay I guessed), a couple hours later I ran down to the lobby enfemme to see if any of the other girls where there...the clerk gave me a huge smile...he busted me no doubt but seemed to like what he saw!

By the way the lobby and bar were packed with str8 regular folk in town for the SEC basketball tourny. Seemed like just about everyone got a kick out of us tgirls when we were meeting in the lobby to gather to jump into the limo.

Late in the night as we had some last drinks in one of the girls rooms a bunch of young GGs came down the hall and joined us. They stayed till their BFs came to get them. The girls loved us...but the guys were very stand-offish. Oh well!

Well, I think I can work out the logistics next time.... Anthea, I pay cash when I shop enfemme.... no paper trail so that my wife doesn't know now darn much i spend on fem clothing..... So if I can borrow my wife's credit card, with her permission, and make the reservations in her name, at a hotel where I'm not know and there are no coworkers staying there... then i should have it licked!!! It's not the checking in that's a problem since I interact enfemme with the public all the time, it's the thought of linking my real name and credit card info to my crossdressing that has me concerned... I don't know... Maybe I'm blowing this out of porportion.... lol

Hotels in UK (but not guest houses) prefer to have a Credit Card up front.

Have you thought about getting an extra card in your SO's name on your account and using that?

Karen, If you are a personal Credit card account holder (account in your name) you can always request a Supplemental card on your account in someone else's name (your fem name). And, now some banks can put your picture right on the card! No need for ID card. You just have to go to the bank to have your picture taken (en-fem) to be put on the card. Hope this helps! Enjoy!!:wave2:

Took the train to NYC my first night out, it helped it was Halloween. It was an easy ride there but at 1am riding with returning concert goers was a trip.

Kristen has her own mastercard don't leave home without it. As for hotels I go to Atlantic City alot and checked in once enfem, was a trip for they had comped my male self. One day I will hit a big jackpot and have my picture plastered all over the screens that show the big winners. :heehee:
