I just want to share my dealings with the California DMV and my driver's license. Just want to let other girls in California how to avoid the hassles I have been having to deal with. Back in November I want to the DMV office with my DL328 form and they issued me my new license with the correct gender marker, female of course and my photo with my now happy smile. Things were great than 8 weeks later the DMV Records and Idenitification Unit sent me a letter stating that a couple of items were missing on the form so I sent the corrected form back to them. Apparently my doctor signed on the signiture line that I was supposed to sign. Well I thought fine all is well until I got another letter this past Saturday, March 2, 2007 informing me that my driver's license will be revoked effective February 19 due to the fact that I never responded to their earlier letter, which I did do. So I called on Monday the 5th and spoke with the woman that handled my file and she told me they never recieved the revised form. So it is obvious that they never recieved the letter, lost in the mail somewhere only God knows where. So I asked what I had to do to get my license reissued and she told me to go see the Driver License manager at the DMV office and everything would be cleared after I had a new photo taken. Well at the DMV office I was handled by another clerk not the manager and she faxed my revised form and returned my license to me and told me that everything was in order so great. Or so I thought, today Karen the woman back in Sacramento called me and told me my license is invalid, don't want you to be driving around thinking that your license is good when it isn't. So tomorrow I have to go back to the DMV and get my photo taken which should have been done two days ago when I went there to begin with on Tuesday. Anyway I learned that this happens quite often, maybe the DMV should revise the form so it is clearer on what to fill in on it. The DMV says that a lot of doctors sign the wrong line, or the other day the clerk thought that I had come in earlier where the doctor put his stamp on the form but forgot to sign it. And who is responsible for this mess, the SEIU member who was working the information desk thats who, if he had sent me to see the Driver License manager who I asked for in the first place I wouldn't have to be going back to the DMV again. If the SEIU asks for assistance from other unions this Machinist Union member will not be one giving it. (Government employees only work for the government because they are not smart enough to get a real job in the private sector) Do I sound like I am in a bit of a rant, you are right about that, my coworker has a new nickname for me "Twisted Sister" see says she has never seen any woman in such a rant as me. That cause my hormone levels are four times as that of a natal woman, so I rant four times as much. So make sure if you send anything back in correspondance to the DMV I suggest maybe you send it by registared mail, return reciept requested.

Sheez, Joan, just when things were on the up and up with the DAY so quickly approaching! Sorry to hear about all this frustrating stuff!

I'm nowhere NEAR seeking to change my D/L, and I hear it's a royal pain here in AZ anyway. I'm NOT looking forward to it, but I'll keep you experience in mind!

Take care, sounds like your coming along, girl! Can't wait to be where your at!

Hugs,
Lori Anne

Joan,
My experience with the DMV is that they routinely lose things and often things that they send out never arrive. Like titles and registrations. This has happened three times, lately, to me. They force people to go the the office and sit there needlessly. Mistakes on forms are common. This is a recent (last few years) development. After Enron basically bankrupted the state, all government services seem to have suffered. Go figure...

Well finally got things squared away at the DMV so I am legallly able to drive again. What a pain it has been, this week has been hard on me due to work and to top it off dealing with the DMV. My reward to myself for getting this done, I went and got a foot massage, pedicure, and my nails done after my little odyssey at you know where. Just kicking back a little TV and a couple of glasses of wine to unwind.

I'm just SO looking forward to all that here in Michigan. (heavy on the sarcasm)
It costs $150 to file the paperwork for a name change in Michigan, and if I want to fix my birth certificate, that's in Tacoma WA, I don't know what that's gonna involve.
