I really should merge this with one of the other 829 threads on the same topic, but I'm in a lazy mood today.

My advice -- get over it. Besides, who says you can't wear what you want?

Oh for Gods sake, get over it.... your moaning because you can't wear what you want - although I don't see any law stopping you - but you chastise women because they wear whatever they want, well guess what... WHO CARES...... if you daren't wear what you want to wear, then that's your problem. I'm sick of hearing this crap... blah, blah, blah... oh poor me... ffs....!!!!!

Let this one go, women have been wearing men's clothes and going drag for a long time as a fashion statement. Who says you can't make your own kind of statement.:hugs:

Way to go Tamara!

Instead of moaning about it do something about it dress and wear what you want. There is plenty of CDers out there dressing in what they want to.

I really don't see anything wrong with slacks or pants. Actually they can look quite good... Esp. the rear view. I have a few pair of tight jeans my self. (not guy's jeans either.)

Here's my question. Since the pants are made for women but fit like men's pants, if a man were to wear them, would he be wearing men's clothing for female clothing? If I wore the boyfriend pants would I be crossdressing or not? :Punch:

There is a double standard. Most women crossdress openly and never like to admit it. They use terms like "we wear pants for practical purposes" but they are rarely doing anything practical while they are saying that, so its just liking mens clothes and a convenient excuse (can't blame them really, if male crossdressers had a convenient accepted excuse they would use it). Ironicly one of my female employee's runs a glass forge and anealing kiln in a denim dress/skirt everyday with more production and fewer accidents than anbody I've ever met.

Although I don't wear skirts or dresses out of the house yet, I do wear women's slacks & jeans outside where ever I go. I guess it's my way of breaking into the outside world a little at a time.

There pr web site is littered with PR that they are focused on the community involvment, environment, and social responsibility. I susguest a stongly worded letter regarding their blantant like of social responsibility. You can read more of their garbage here.

I just ask the ad be held to the same standard that they would hold for women. I can hardly imagine them considering an ad where a man rips clothes off a women and puts them on.

Very well said! There IS A DOUBLE STANDARD. Women divorce men , a lot of times, for husbands cding, but, when have we ever heard of husbands leaving, because of wives' crossdressing?! I guess it is because girls, are sugar and spice, and everything nice, but, boys are frogs, and snails, and puppydog tails. Some gg's in a classy pants outfit, definitely fem, look ok, but, I am sick unto death, of NOTHING BUT JEANS! The feminist female gg, I rent from, hate being a gg, is 48, only wears baggy jeans, has not worn a dress, or skirt, or ANYTHING LADYLIKE, since she was in grade school. I could not limit myself, would be bored, with ONLY wearing t-shirts, and jeans, and NOTHING ELSE!

I'm sure some people can't be bothered, Casey - it might make them think. :notlistening:

:sb: How about this, people . . . I'm sure it's true that some women divorce their husbands because they don't like them crossdressing, but by the same token . . . some of us (FtMs, that is) are unable to attract a mate at all for the same reason. We're too masculine-looking for some people (male or female). We're considered "ugly" women or too butch and we couldn't get any attention if we set ourselves on fire. There is no double-standard . . . it's a case of the grass being greener, trust me. This life isn't easy for anyone. :Pfft:

I suppose because theres no sexual element with women, after all whens the last time you heard a woman say they got horny wearing y-fronts

Plus for women there is no taboo, because unless they dress like a very butch lesbian no one is going to notice they're wearing blokes clothes in the first place

Wearas a bloke in a dress is always going to stick out like a sore thumb, it's not fair but that's life

And it's NOT a double standard...... here we go again with the tripe.... jeezz...... do ya'll have nothing else to whinge about?? 'get a life' comes to mind......

I'm pretty sure you've offended the FTM's on this forum, how the hell do you think their life is??? bunch of roses?? their SO having a ball living with a TG?? and I'm betting this 'has' split up a few couples.... ffs....

Yea, what she said, okay.
I'm soooooooooooooo tired of this topic. And it's true and not true; I can not wear whatever I want. Do you really think it'd go over well if I bought a man's three piece suit and wore it to work? I doubt it. I think I'd get strange looks and stares.
Oh bother, why do I even try to respond to these threads?!

KewThe thing is Kew, we don't go out buying 'mens' suits, we buy 'womens' suits - unless of course you are a FTM - which I'm pretty sure they do get a lot of grief for the way they dress, especially from their families who don't understand them.

And your right..... why do we bother lol.... people won't change their minds, some are hell bent on constantly pushing the 'double standards' bs.... yet, these people expect us to accept them, support them etc.... isn't that a double standard??

I probably shouldn't go there, but please cut NewtoThis some slack (:D pun intended). I challenge anyone (except Tamara - you can't play) to find the 1st ever double standard thread. It's just another issue to deal with along the CDing way.

The world is full of double standards - I can think of several that work to the advantage of GM's. Serenity prayer usually helps.

Fact: Men and women are different. There has always been a double standard when it comes to women. Like the women cops directing traffic, down at the end of the street, while the male cops go in after the barricaded gunman. You ever see any women on the SWAT teams? It ain't right. But it ain't gonna change anytime soon.

I never value any thing of what those commercials tell ya , I saw that GAP commercial too on TV , I just laughfed , but i have to agree also there is a double standard in society , and women GG's can often push the envelope alot more then a male can , but as for me I'm litteraly in femme mode on any given day , casual wear stuff , I;ve never had any problems , and i think that alot of ppl even view me as a GG , cuz I think i do a good job at projecting it well day to day , its become 2nd nature to me , soo basically i do wear what I want ,,,,,,,great thread

The "double standard" complaint is the first roll call of all crossdressers, it is something we have all thought about. But as Tree said life is full of double standards, some favor men, some favor women. This one, which is so dear to our hearts, favors women. Is it fair? Nope but do not let double standards and other people's prejudices affect who you are and what you want to be. You just need to find the courage to overcome life's unfair dealings.

yes.
Claiming a double standard isn't there because it happens to be favorable to you is counter productive. Knowing how society really works and how to interact with it gives you the true advantage. Its natural to declare that it doesn't exist if its favorable, if its existence were validated one of the few benefits in life might slowly go away.

Also this stuff has been going on for a long time. I can remember Levi ads in the mid 1980s which had women putting on their boyfriend's jeans which apparently made them instantly desirable to their boyfriends. So the message that women should wear men's clothing to increase their sex appeal is an old marketing ploy which worked! After the ads showed I can remember many young women wearing men's jeans.

That was a breakthrough period when lots of male clothing like waistcoats and jackets were also being worn. Often girls were raiding their fathers/brothers/boyfriend's wardrobes to get what they wanted. It is strange to consider the power of advertising which could make crossdressing cool and desirable.

Who knows one day a cool brand could do the same for male crossdressing.

But it isn't double standards Amanda. How many times do we have to say this. We probably do wear pants because they are most definitely more practical. However, what we do not do is wear a false penis, Y fronts, a stringey vest and a beard for hecks sake. And if we did we too would be on the fringes of social acceptance. Ask any female CD. They have a bad time too when it comes to acceptance.

Women crossdress every single day. But hey, if your a female, society has made special provisions for you, that you can count on every single day. GG's love to point out they don't buy clothes in the mens section. True. But why the hell would they need to when they can buy it in the womens section? Perhaps the GG's aren't being honest with themselves about who they are?
