View Full Version : Tragedy made worse by M. Savage

I usually enjoy writing my own material. But we've had a murder here locally and it has really hit home. It has received national attention. Forgive me, but I'm going to do a bit of cut and paste here for I don't quite know how to treat this right now.

The Savage Nation reaches more than 8 million listeners each week. It the third-most-listened-to talk radio show in the nation.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the March 20 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:

SAVAGE: "San Francisco police are trying to determine whether the slaying of a transgender victim found naked near the Interstate 280 freeway is somehow linked to reports of a nude woman seen walking on the same freeway two hours later, authorities said. ... [San Francisco police inspector Karen] Lynch said it appeared the victim had been in the process of becoming a woman." Yeah, process of becoming a woman -- psychopath, should have been in a back ward in a straitjacket for years, howling on major medication.

[...]

SAVAGE: And then they go into "she said transgender victims" going on and on "extremely violent" going on and on "are frequently left partially clothed or completely nude, it's making a statement and humiliating the victim," blah-blah-blah. I am so beyond fed up with freaks. I live in freak city. You know, I don't mind freaks. I used to go to Ringling Brothers when I was a little kid, and the freak show was my favorite part of the circus. I didn't go there to mock them. I liked to see the one-breasted man. I liked to see the mustached woman.

But when I wake up as an adult and I find out that they're actually all Democrats today, passing themselves off as normal, I'm sorry, someone's gotta say this is a freak show, time out. And what's this sympathy, constant sympathy for sexually confused people? Why should we have constant sympathy for people who are freaks in every society? I didn't say hurt the freaks. I didn't say do anything to the freaks.

But you know what? You're never gonna make me respect the freak. I don't want to respect the freak. The freak ought to be glad that they're allowed to walk around without begging for something. You know, I'm sick and tired of the whole country begging, bending over backwards for the junkie, the freak, the pervert, the illegal immigrant. All of them are better than everybody else. Sick. Everything is upside down.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The audio sounds even worse than the transcript reads. Yup millions of Americans listen to this guy. And what of the MURDERER? I want to yell, to scream, to throw my arms up in frustration!

I am disgusted.

What? You think he came by his last name by coincidence?

Why people even listen to misinformed, egotistical bigots like him is just beyond my comprehension.

Savage and "shock jocks" like him appeal to the raw emotions and fears of a society on the edge. Fear has been used by the media and government to manipulate all of us. It is working and got us into Iraq. Consider our highways and the new phenomenon of road rage and drive-by shootings. These conditions were rare and newsworthy only a few years ago but commonplace now. I live in Northern CA and used to drive Hwy. 280 often as it is one of the most beautiful highways in the nation. Now, I avoid most car trips because of the incredible nastiness and downright danger out there. That transgenderism has become the new focus for collective hatred by these types is deplorable but expected as we are making progress for our rights. Rights to live in peace as human beings. Savage and his kind are the deviants here. They foster violence and which is the ultimate anti-social behavior. SO who is the "freak" here?

I agree with Sharon.
This man sounds like a shock jock and a cold hearted SOB as well.

Unfortunately, shock jocks sell radio time because they're so shocking. Howard Stearn didn't get famous for being a "nice guy", nor did the talk show hosts of those rediculous tv shock shows. The more sensational, the better for those people. The really sad thing is that so many people actually consider it entertainment. I think it says something about the nature of most human beings, that they can so easily be led into ignorance and intolorance. Hitler knew this about people, that's why he was so successful for so long.

This is the same doofus who lost his MSNBC talk show for telling a gay male caller to get AIDS and die.

He's actually quite well-educated and something of an expert on health foods, with several books to his credit.

It's hard to fathom how a person of intelligence could spew such venom and categorize entire groups of fellow humans as "freaks".

All I have to say is... WTF.

Well, that and to say that this guy is so willfully ignorant that there's no excuse for it. What a *******.

I'm not religious but I do believe that there is a higher being and I do believe that he to will be judged, his time will come. I've always said and lived by treat people like you would like to be treated.
Still hearing this nonsense does p#@% me off.

It appears that anyone not fitting into Mr. Savage's definition of "normal" is a freak and not worthy of breathing the air. Who is the intolerant one?

There is a special circle of hell for hatemongers like Savage.

What's most upsetting to me is that there are millions of people who are buying what he's selling. That as a society we are still so backwards that anyone with a platform can spew such vile hatred and so many people are there to agree with him, cheer him on, and are even willing to act on it. It's sad that so many people out there literally need some group of people to hate in order to feel safe and secure and important and better about themselves, and danger lurks around every corner for us because of the insecurity and ignorance peddled by the likes of Savage:Angry3: :(

Wow, it's garbage spewing out of mouths like this that will lead us towards another Gwen Araujo. May our voices actioned in kindness and patience be heard louder than 19th century bigots like this.

Looks like he got what he was looking for.....a reaction . Why even give him the satisfaction of showing outrage at his stupid comments.....Why ley him into our "safe place"?
If we even give what he says a second thought he has accomplished two things..
1. getting his hate message out there.
2. Instilling fear.

Bad things like this do happen. People do terrible things to others. ( all kinds of terrible things to ALL kinds of people) This murder hits a bit closer to home, because the victim was like some of us.
"dang.. that could happen to me if I go out dressed" ... DID THE THOUGHT CROSS YOUR MIND?
Don't let this kind of insanity scare you, because if you do...he wins!

I heard about this! I live in the San Francisco area and know 280 very well. (In fact, I drive it to get back and forth to school each day, though not necessarily that same part of it.)

It saddens me to hear smut like that especially around here. I guess I cope by reminding myself of all of the Bay-to-Breakers races (SF's mini-marathons) in which many people wear costumes (or participate in the nude), the occasional car decorated with just about anything glued all over it (god bless 'em!), the well-known (around here) "Defenestration Building" which is an old derelict building that an artist decorated by cramming furniture in all the windows in such a way that it looks like it's being thrown out -- or crawling out on its own. lol I love all of the wonderful color around here and I take some consolation knowing that at least that kind of toilet-mouth-and-****-for-brains is the exception to the rule around here.

If I may, "we shall overcome some day".

Hugs,
Lisa

There are hordes of "them" out there. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Anne Coulter, Savage, Dr. Laura, Michelle Malkin etc. All of them spew hatred and bile. And all are rabid Republicans. Does that say something about how polarized politics has become? If you are at all different than their view of what is "normal" then you are fair game to be hated and reviled. It's rather sad and pathetic how scared they are of anyone who is at all different.

You'd be surprised at how many so-called liberals are biased also.

Crap like that just sickens me. It's unbelievable that such hatred is allowed to be published, but then it sells papers doesn't it? There ought to be an island somewhere where all the "holier than thou" can live together in perfect harmony.

...that these people need to constantly speak of hate. I agree with many aspects of what republicans think but the social aspects are just too negative. To think that someones's life is being talked about like this is terrible. The political parties tie themselves into such small doctrines that no one can relate except for the politicians themselves and a few media personalities.

I don't think that millions of people are buying what he is saying. Alot might agree with him in principle, but I am pretty sure that that is as far as they take it. Maybe a few might act. I don't think that danger lurks around every corner. You make it sound as though there are gangs of torch wielding maniacs running the streets looking for us. This kind of hysteria is exactly what people like him hope to achieve. They want to scare us into stopping what we are doing, or keep us in the closet. If they succeed... they win. He scares one person, and that person scares more people, and more people scare even more people. He not only succeeds, he has us spreading the fear that he is trying to instill.
We in here seem to have this "us against the world attitude" Look at yourself. Are you so much different than the average person,in the way you think and more important...act? Can you be provoked into violence because some jerk is spouting off? I believe that for the most part, most people are good, law abiding, and caring folks...just like us. Are we going to let a few a few A**holes ruin it for us?
I believe that society is changing. There's a new generation stepping up to the plate. it might not be perfect, but it is changing. An example: there are a lot of us here that do venture out,and as reported, thier experinces range from uneventful to fun to real excitement... Not many reports of hate or violence. Ok,maybe an incident here and there. I would think that if many of us did fall victim to some kind of hate crime or violence we'd be the first to hear about it right here in our little forum.

I'll just bet he loved "The Freak Shows" as a kid. He now is The Ringleader of his very own Freak Show, which is what an awful lot of Talk Radio has become.

I worked in Radio for a lot of years, and I'm often amazed by what The Public believes about these "hosts". It's a Show folks, Plain and simple. I have no idea what this guy actually believes but I doubt it is anything like The Right-Wing Line he espouses. The idea is to "pull your chain" and get you to respond or be a voyeur and listen for The Host to mentally "beat up" anyone dumb enough to get on the air and play His Game by His Rules!

It saddens me, that we now live in a world of "ditto heads." Apparently, mindless folks who are incapable of formulating opinion or philosophy on their own.

You want intelligent talk with information....tune to NPR. You want to hear bigoted stupidity "ranted" at you everyday, stick with Rush, or Savage, or Liddy, or any number of the other Demagogues. They make a very good living out of your listenership!

Peace and Love, Joanie

PS. I got into the business because I so admired Ed Murrow. How low we have sunk!
