We watched the most amazing documentary about Lucy on the tv last night. She is 18 now but started her hormones when she was sixteen. She told her story and it was very moving all her family was involved. When she was 18 she had her first breast implants privately and now she is waiting to have her GRS I think privately too. I think they said all together it was going to cost £16000 wow! Did anyone else see it? xx Felix :hugs:

As my neighbours are a tad nosey, I had to watch with the sound turned right down, and caught the occasional word. Lucy is very lucky to have a supportive mum, and friends. I admire her courage for inviting the cameras to film her, as I would not relish the attention of high profile media coverage. However, I feel that the programme would also have the effect that Big Brother had on the transgendered contestant winning, in that she was shown and communicated as a real person with feelings, and value as opposed to allowing her to be percieved as an object and dehumanised. Maybe it would be beneficial to have an extended visit/view inot Lucys life on a longditudinal sense to give society the ability/opportunity to fully grasp the full significance and toll experiencing being transgendered has on the individual.
I am very very proud of Lucy, and I really hope she achieves everything she wishes for.
And if she is a member on here, Hiya Lucy : )

at about 17 as well in 1972. She no doubt would have stared earlier if possible.

She is Klinefelter Syndrome, XXY so has it was a bit easer to pass.
