I had one of those Mondays you are glad its over. I was working on issues with some of my co-workers when one of them said "hey did you see that dude working today, looked like he had make up on, Must be gay or a Cross dresser". Well, I happen to know this person, and he is one of the nicest, hard working person I know. He is not Gay, maybe he dresses I don't know. Made me think if only these guys knew what I had on under my suit...hehehe.....
It just shows "you can't tell a book by its cover!"

...No Sandy, you can't. It's a shame that some of your co-workers are so misinformed. Perhaps you could set them straight?

Just wondering if you tried to educate your co-workers a little of just let it go? I bet that there is a lot more of us out there that we think. I do know that silk and satin feels good I don't care what your gender is.

Did you run to the mirror to check if you had any remains of eye liner? Makeup is as hard to remove as it is to apply.

I said "come on Guys, does it really matter what he does". 2 of the 3 said, "no, we just need to get this thing fixed". The other just kinda got quiet.
On the way back to my office I did stop by a mirror to be sure I did not miss some eyeliner (been there done that). My face was dull old boy mode.

If the guy used the term "crossdresser" he may know more about it than he lets on. Most people would still use the term "transvestite". Even me, although I have be crossdressing for thirty years, did not know the term "crossdresser" until about a year ago. I thought a CD was the disk I played in the music playing thing (I was going to say "stereo", but some of my younger relatives look at me funny when I say that). Usually the people that are most critical of others are the ones that are most into it. It's their way of covering for their feelings.

To me, it doesn't matter. I like to dress because it is my way of expressing myself. I am fortunate in the fact that I work in a small mom and pop shop, and I drive to work dressed every day, then have about 2 hours before anyone else shows up. BTW... Yes ,I do keep my silk undies and/or hose under my work clothes! Narrow minded people.....BAAH!

The purpose of makeup is to enhance your face.
Straight women wear it to look nice.
Crossdressers may wear it to look more femme.
Gay men may wear it to be more attractive to other guys.
Straight men can wear it too to look nice.
So, how can one tell what category a person is in without asking them?

It is sad that there is so much intolerance in this world of ours, however, prejudice is mostly born out of ignorance and insecurity.
If we do our part to show tolerance, understanding, love and support, if step up to the plate (in a nice skirt and killer high hells of course) to educate others, then bit by bit we chip away at the problem and take baby steps towards the day when such comments will be a thing of the past. It may take many many years, decades, centuries, but it all starts with us, here, now.

The one who was quiet was probably one of us, too.

Sandy,
You said,
"one of them said "hey did you see that dude working today, looked like he had make up on, Must be gay or a Cross dresser".
I find it very interesting that this individual made a definite distinction between the two. Did anybody else notice this?
