Hello guys,

I have a little problem I think. I want to go to a schoolparty. I am in my final year, so I don't want to miss this one. But the problem is. There a dressing rules. And they insist that all girls wear a dress, and all guys wear a suit. I DON'T WANT TO WEAR A DRESS!!! Last time I heared of a girl who hadden't weared a dress and she couldn't get in. So what do I need to do. I realy would like to go.

Maybe it's also useful for ya to know that most teachers don't know me. So i might try to buy a suit who make me look like a real young man. Ather problem: I might need to show my school-ID, becose if I dress like a guy I look junger.

Most of you have been in high-school jah?
What did you do?

Morgan,

Well, my school wasn't that strict. o_O

I say go with the suit. If most of the teachers don't know you, you'll have a pretty good chance of getting in. Not to mention it'd make for better photographs to show off later.

Can you speak to a teacher who does know you about the possibility of wearing a suit? It might help to stress that you do take the party's dress code seriously and want to respect the fact that they seem to be interested in everyone looking nice.

Make sure to budget money for a proper shirt, belt, shoes, and tie. Otherwise, you may be surprised.

It's a tough one alright Hun but the guys here have come up with some good ideas. I love Das Idea, Adams and the Marks. I know I would love to wear tucks to a dance just one time If I could get a member of staff to hear my reasons out (that's if I was in your position hun). To make ya laugh The staff in my school try everytime there is somethin on to get me in a dress lol absolutely no way like you said ya don't wanna wear a dress, me neither. They did manage however to get me to do somethin quite mad in the spirit of things and I put a flamenco dress on for Sanish Day and went round the school in it. It gave everyone a great laugh but they decided I don't do dresses. I felt so clumsy but that's how I've always felt in stuff like that. So Hun you find a way to wear that suit and I'm sure you will look tremendous xx Felix :hugs:

Morgan,

You didn't state whether or not you are out. I think the best way is to talk with a trusted teacher about your desire not to wear a dress, that it is against how you are in that you never dress that way and that you would like to dress in suit. A good teacher has seen it all and may be willing to help you out. The dress code is just to get everyone to dress up formal like and keep out sports clothes, jeans, etc. for the special occasion. If you are out, I don't think they can force you to wear a dress, which may be a violition of your rights. I am not recommending that you make a scene or demand your rights, because that is up to you. Maybe even a call from your mother may help too. Other wise go for the suit and be ready with other plans if you cannot get in.

Good luck

Wouldn't it be funny if all the girls showed up in a suit? They wouldn't throw all of them out, would they? I'd try for the suit too, Morgan, and the idea of talking to a trusted teacher is a good one. Good luck and please let us know what happens - with pictures, if you can.

Oh what a fun one. I'm posting more for support than for new ideas - I basically agree with what everyone else has said. I can't believe your school is so strict! Good luck with the suit and do tell us how it goes.

So i might try to buy a suit who make me look like a real young man.

I think that would be the best choice. If you can "pass", I say go for it! It might take a little guts, but as I always say: "chickens" don't ever have any fun!

God het is op elke Nederlandse school hetzelfde he? Stomme regels!

But let me continue for all in English... :p

I talked with the schoolcouncelor about my 'genderissues' and that I wouldn't wear a dress no matter what. I rather would go naked. So she arranged it for me, I could wear trousers. :D
