As Tristan's already pointed out, summers a' comin' and it's getting hot enough to where shorts. That's one issue I can deel with, BUT......

Beach! Swiming? HOW?

I don't want to where my binder swiming or in the see, quite aside from the discomfort, how the hell am I supost to chainge? (or tan for that matter?). So... what do I where when swiming? I thought maybe I could get a verry tight sports bacini top and were a Tshirt over it... but I don't think that'll be verry effective.

Idears, anyone?

(and if anyone has anyquestion I havn't thought of...)

Idears, anyone?

Frog bra, at least one size too small. Tshirt. Swim trunks.

Personally, I'm waiting for the style on the left to make a comeback:

John,

Although I am mtf, I do have a suggestion for you. I have dealt with gynecomastia (breasts on a male) since I was a teenager. Lockerrooms, beaches, gym, etc. are a nightmare for a gm with breasts. The same issues you are trying to deal with.

I lived in Hawaii for a few years so I spent alot of time on the beach. It was not unusual that guys wore spandex surfing shirts. There were nothing more than a tank top made out of spandex. These were comfortable, dried quickly, and protected you from the sun. Also for me, they hid my breasts. The darker colors were better. Nipples were still somewhat of an issue especially when cold. I put small round bandaids on my nipples before I put on the shirt. The two together, surfer shirt and bandaids, did a good job of keep the attention away from my chest. Hope this helps.

By doing a search for Modest Swimwear, I'm finding some Muslim and Mormon specific sites. There is such a thing as a swim shirt, and I guess they're made from material that won't hold water the way a cotton t-shirt will. A lot of the links are also for UV protection sites, so that may be a place to look too.

Edit: They're not cheap.

Edit again: Here's one on sale for only $8. I think it's ugly, but may just get one anyway. :D

Awww allys post is well helpful!

Yeah... I use a sports bra as a "binder" all the time. I dont want to use a proper one for fear of damage. It works pretty well.

(btw I dont mean a sports BRAAAA!!.. not something with cups... it's like a tight tube made out of lycra stuff sort of a really tight sports crop top.
That could be worth a try dude.

It's such a pain isn't it. meh.

The spandex surfing shirt sounds like a good idea, but I'm wondering if they'll make me sweat up a storm like the binders do. If it doesn't breathe, I'm in trouble.

The surfing shirts were very breathable and comfortable.

I've read on a website a while ago that some guys wear their binder shirts under a rash guard shirt.

I found a website that makes rash guards.

Yeah, the rash guard sounds like the best idea. I'm planning on getting one of those myself.

Yip... I just buy mine from Walmart. They make sleeveless, short-sleeved, and long-sleeved. You can also buy them from any sporting goods shop. Here they run about $20... I wear a tight sport bra underneath. It doesn't completely flatten you out, but it helps, and it doesn't absorb water, make you sweat, and it's fairly comfortable. I also buy the shorts of the same type, then tuck the shirt in to keep it stretched well down, because they can ride up, and regular surf shorts don't keep it tucked in very well.
Ends up looking something like this:

Doesn't look like you can get much of a tan with those, though. And I'm thinking the surfing shirt probably works best on guys with smaller bre . . . um, pecs, so it may not make much difference on me. I think I'll just have to hide out during the summer.

... ... getting a tan is bad for you anyway!

If you want to look brown, I say... use fake tan.. no damagey skin!

I wear UV protection a lot, even in the winter, and even indoors!

I heard that its best for you to protect your skin like that.
Ooh and eat tomato paste a lot too lol... builds up your skin's natural defences to the sun (and, so.. aging)... but tomatoes alone will not protect you .... wear UV protection my friends! hehe!

Oh, I know, hun. I always wear high UV protection - even in winter. But I like to get a little color in the summer - and even with the hat, umbrella and sunscreen, I do. My arms have to be even, dude . . . what kind of gay guy walks around with a farmer tan. :heehee:

I dated a guy like that a few years ago. He was an internet vampire or something...

And I know taning isn't good for you, but it's the only way I've got the confidence to where shorts or swinwere

I've always tanned pretty easy, even with SPF 50. Though I find that as I get older I become more susceptible to burns. Eh, skin cancer is not one of my major cause-of-death concerns. I wear sunblock, but don't go out of my way to incorporate utter sun shielding into my life.

bi_weird
04-09-2007, 08:16 PM
Yeah I tend to either be clear, white, or peeling.
Totally terrified of skin cancer because my skin is so pale and I burn easy, so I try to wear sun screen whenever I'm out in the summer.

I went swiming today in just a swiming-cozy and bord shorts, and it wan't to bad (though admitidliy I was doing lengths: to look at my chest got me a lung full of watter), though I still want something diferent for the beech.

Oh dear, I'd better go get the spell checker... hm, not in there. Posably a cloquilism. Short for costume. Pronounced c-o-zzy. Curiosly enough, I have never been swiming in a tee cozy.

Seriously, dude . . . did you have to go there? I visualize everything anyone tells me. It's gonna be hard to get that one out of my head. :p

After looking at those surf shirts on the LL Bean site, I don't think that would work for me. I need industrial-strength 18-hour type of support - that doesn't look like it can handle it. :(
