View Full Version : Breast for tape

A few months back I got a pair of gold seal breastforms from the BFstore. In some ways I love them, way better then waterballoons but in other ways I still like the waterballoons better. About a month after I got them I decided to use the tape to attach them. Its a great feeling having them attached, makes the bra feel like its really needed and doing something. Now my question. After taking them off I had tape marks on my chest for about a month. Im not talking about an outline of the tape like you get from a bandaid but more like where the tape was on the skin was red. After I removed the forms I took a shower and got off the outline of the tape but the red marks stayed. These red marks were there for about 6 weeks and even then if you looked close you could still kind of make them out. My question, how to you prevent getting these marks or how do you make them go away? I did a search on the forum and didn't see anything about marks. Hope there is a way to prevent them or a quick fix to remove them. They aren't sticky or anything, just red. Anyway thanks for the help.

Good question. I haven't taped mine yet to my chest. I would like to for the same reasons you stated. It sounds like a skin reaction to the glue. Hopefully someone can give a good reason and how to deal with it.

It may be some kind of allergic reaction. I tried tape and tape strips for mine some time ago. I really don't care for it. Seems they work out better for me just being in there loose. I was trying for a "no bra" look but I can live without it. The problem I had was not my skin so much as marks they left on the forms and the problems I had getting the tape off the forms.

Some red marks are to be expected with adhesive or tape and heavier forms: the forms are staying up by essentially pulling away at the skin, and that pulling breaks blood vessels, just like in a "hickey".
But if the marks are lasting that long, something is definitely wrong, unless you are naturally a very slow healer. (I heal noticably faster than my wife does.)
Did you use tape over the entire back surface of the forms, or only in a couple of places? The larger the surface you cover, the less pulling pressure there is at each point.
But with the marks lasting that long... I too would suspect a sensitivity to the glue, unless you used far too little tape for the job.

I get those red marks staying for a long time too. When I ordered new tapes from the BF store I mentioned it to Nancy, she said it was unusual and suggested a different tape called Hi Tac. They don't last as long as the original ones, a few days compared to a week or more. They still leave marks but nowhere near as bad or for as long as the ones that came with my forms.

I used tape for the first time yesterday. Had em on for about 10 hours. When I removed the forms there was a bit of a red mark. I washed with some moisturizing soap and put on some moisturizing lotion and this morning all is fine and dandy. How long did you have your forms taped on

Never had that problem. It seems like it could have been some sort of allergic reaction.

I had the forms on for about 10 hours give or take an hour. They are size 7 or 8 form I believe and I had 3 tapes on each. One on the top and one on each corner. The mark that was the worst was the one on the outside, near the underarm. I heal overly fast and the only thing that Im allergic to is of all things, dust. Thanks for the replys.

I have never tried tape, always went for the spray on glue...I have worn them for as long as 48 hours...spent two day with forms on...and no real after effects...sounds like you and the glue on the tape are allergic to each other...
you may want to try another brand or use the hollister spray glue...

I have the Transform Super Perk Triangle, size 8. Was in a "mood" Sunday, wanted to go about braless so I taped them on. This is the first time I've used tape in well over a year. I've been using the Hollister adhesive, so, in a day or so, :), when I take them off, I'll let you know about marks from the tape.
I had them on, using Hollister, for 3 days, the weekend of Mar 25th when we had Kinkfest in Portland. Would have kept them on longer, but had to travel to a family event in Calif. I had some red spots that slowly disappeared over a week or so. I use a body lotion after each shower. I guess I consider the minor itch and marks, as 'the cost of doing business', so to speak. I don't think it's an allergic reaction. Leave anything on the skin, over time there may be some abrasion.

I had taped mine on for the first time last month. I too had red marks. I was concerned but it was gone in a day. I was thinking of getting the spray from the BFS. Marcie you say the spray last as long as 48 hours. that's great. I may get some of that. I can't see me wearing them any longer than that. I hate having the old tape stuck to my forms. I'm afraid of damage to my forms so I have not removed the old stuff yet. I read the directions twice and still have not found what to use to remove the old tape. Other than be careful. any ideas would be a big help in that matter.

A few years ago, Carla (in San Jose) gave me a few suggestions. Tape can be 'renewed' using Skin Tac Wipes, and new tape can be put on top of old tape. She suggested no more than 3 sets of tape, then remove the tape and clean the forms. heh.. I turn on the TV, load a favorite DVD, grab a bottle of rubbing alcohol and slowly remove the tape and glue. It takes a long time, and going slow is a good thing so I don't damage the forms.
When removing the Hollister glue, I use De-Solv-it, then wash the forms is luke warm soapy water.

I had used medical tape to create cleavage and all was fine till I went to remove it, had a major reaction blisters and bright red marks where the tape was attached. It has healed but did leave some permanent scares.

The local medical supply place sold me some kind of "universal solvent" to use with the Hollisters. It's an oily substance, both in the smell and in the handling. I tend to avoid using it. I've found that I can peel my forms off pretty much, and the adhesive itself comes off natuarlly within a day or so -- it gets clogged with natural dirt (e.g. skin cells) that washes off readily. So I only use the remover to clean the forms, and it smells enough that I tend to just let the adhesive dry on the forms; it more or less wears off by itself, I find.
Tape... non-acetone nail polish remover usually works. Using an acetone remover is riskier, as acetone melts some kinds of plastic.
I made the mistake of using some napthalene (camp stove fuel) on some (small cheap) forms: it ruined the plastic outcoat and that quickly led to a breakdown of the whole form.
Say... this talk of damaging forms reminds me: I damaged my size 6 forms a bit, which is why I had started routinely wearing my size 7 forms. And since the ones I have here are the undamaged ones, that means that the ones I can't find must be my size 6's, not my size 7's. Yup, now I can see the 7 marking on these ones. No wonder the bra store lady didn't think I was wearing a C cup...
