For those of you who check out the FTM forums from time to time, you'll know I stole this idea from that section, but I figured we could ask the question here as well. For me, and maybe it's just the kid in me, but it's actually Shrek. More specifically, it's the seen where Shrek and Fiona part ways and there's that sad song playing. Something about their loneliness brings me closer to my emotions and my fem self. Another movie that gets me in touch with Jess is Silent Hill...this movie is all about motherhood as Rose searches for her lost daughter Sharon while they are both trapped in a ghost town.

Well, I don't remember the title, but there was a movie I saw on TV about a marine that fell in love for a TG, they had an affair and in the end he got killed by a fellow marine during his sleep with a baseball bat, for no other reason than discrimination. It was based on a true story.

I'm a classic movie fan (favorite period: 1935-1955) and I guess I've always enjoyed what are commonly referred to as the "women's pictures". I like science fiction (esp. older films) but have little interest in action or horror.
I love classic noir, too. Check it out:
Casablanca, The Philalelphia Story, Boom Town, San Francisco, Adams Rib, Citizen Kane, Antie Mame, etc
Always cry during: Now Voyager, Dark Victory, The Ghost & Mrs Muir,Wuthering Heights, etc
Modern favorites: Fight Club, The Ninth Gate, crumb, The Science of Sleep, The Pianist, etc
BTW, Jessica: Love the Pete Townsend/Who quote!

Too bad I can only keep this quote until October...then I'll be twenty and I'll no longer be living in "teenage wasteland." I guess then it'll just be "nobody knows what its like." Or maybe I just "won't get fooled again."
Okay...way off topic...sorry guys.

"To Catch a Thief" Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. Every time Grace is on the screen, I wish myself into that outfit. The sexy black swimming costume, the stunningly sexy white strapless gown in the fireworks scene, the charming day dress in the picnic scene, the impossibly gorgeous gold lame ball gown in the Costume Party scene.
What "trying to me womanly" girl like myself wouldn't think that this movie is speaking to her and saying "go for it"!

I just bought the 25 anniversary edition of "The Last Unicorn" which I saw as a child. My wife had never heard of it so I explained it was about a bull that drives all the unicorns into the sea. To hide, tha last unicorn turns into a young girl and goes out to find the other unicorns. After I finished explaining the plot, my wife looked at me and said "You are such a girl sometimes".
Don't even get me started about the things she said when she found out I love Mary Poppins.

I love Les Miserable, when it's done right it's hauntingly beautiful. I can listen to the soundtrack for hours. I also love RENT, I'm planning to dress up and go the next time it goes to San Fransico. I figured nobody would say much in a play with a TS in it,

I remember an old Tony Curtis movie called Goodby Charlie. Here's the plot line from http://www.imdb.com It was cute and funny as I recall as his friend made advances on him.
"Shot by a jealous husband, Charley falls out a porthole and is lost at sea only to find himself returned as an attractive blond woman. His best friend is staying at his house as he puts Charlie's affairs in order and after being convinced, finds himself an unwilling helper in Charlie's new plan to marry into money. 1) "Sleepless in Seattle"
2) Hitchcock's "Rear Window" w Grace Kelley. Amazingly beautiful woman and clothes.
3) "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" with Dianna Rigg. Talk about romantic, that scene in the hayloft. Dianna is my favorite actress. Her daughter Rachel Stirling is also a favorite. She appears in
4) "Tipping the Velvet", a very good film about love between Victorian women.
5) "Coming Home", a movie based on Rosamund Pilcher's best selling book.
6) "Kissing Jessica Stein" about as cute a movie about women as it gets.
There are so many more but this is enough for now...

Guess I don't understand the concept here... Movies invoke emotions... Good Bad Happy sad upset... Not making you feel like someone or something... In my opinion...
But that said I like comedys... And movies with lots of explosions.. And some comedy.. Aramdedon is a good example... I want a movie to entertain me and make me feel good..
Or in other words, make me feel like a funny person with a thermo-nuclear device.. Hehe

I have always enjoyed watching the so-called "chick flicks" more so since I discovered my inner femininity. When watching one I usually identify myself with the leading female characters. I always cry when some positive emotional climax is reached or a happy ending. Memorable movies include:
-Sleepless in Seattle
-The Bridges over Madison County
-You've got Mail
-Sense and Sensibility
I probably would not go to see one of these on my own but will not offer any resistance to accompanying my wife to the cinema to see them.

What movies make me feel like a woman? I never gave it much thought, but any movie made from the male perspective helps me realize that I just don't think the way men do.

What I find interesting, especially now looking back, is that with many of those movies I think I identified more with the female lead, than the male. I didn't want to be "taken" by Tom Hanks, but I kinda did want to be Meg Ryan.
I've always gotten "misty" at movies, or TV, when most if not all of my buds surely did not. I just figured I was overly sensitive, but maybe it's just the girl in me. While it embarrased me to let anyone see it, I kinda liked feeling the emotions .. it's like I was feeling things with my whole body and heart, not just superficially like it seems "other" guys do. But then again, being overly sensitive, I'm probably reading too much into everything :heehee:

Well, this may seem like an unlikely choice at first but I absolutely love "An Officer and a Gentleman" The last scene, where Richard Gere goes to the paper mill and picks up Debra Winger and carries her away is soooo romantic.

One of my favorites was "Calamity Jane" with Doris Day. Of course Calam was kind of a tomboy. Gee, wonder why I liked that one?:heehee: Sal
